What is your maintenance and comfort?

Isaiah 40 28Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. -
its hard being an indigenous Christian
Riverwalker replied to Ghostdog's topic in General Discussion
I would tell them that what evil people did in the name of God, had nothing to do with God. People have always tried to control others with religion. But do not mistake governments or people for religion just because a country or a group tried to do something and they come from a region that is predominately Christian...does not mean THEY were Christian But the short answer to "how can you be a Christian" is....Because it is JESUS! -
Police are leaving people why would they place their lives on the line for people who hate them

For the longest time, I was anchored to my past. I hade a wonderful childhood, but in my teens and twenties my life fell apart. I had to deal with a very emotional health issue, My parents got divorced, and when I finally gto married in my early 20's she was taken away from me (died). I fell on to God and gave it all end..... but I never stopped looking back at that perfect childhood. Then one day I did go back, I went to the school of my perfect childhood and where the trouble first started I sat on one bench and look across at the other bench and saw my 13 year old self....looking very worried. I didn't know how this health problem would affect me and I was very scared. And I was wondering what would I say to him (if I could) and would I want to hear it? And suddenly I remembered I was on the other side of all that trauma, and my life was good again, Married to a wonderful woman and living a full and happy Christian life And I heard myself say out loud "You Craig, (yeah that's me) you are going to be okay." And I smiled at myself and I felt a great weight lift off of me, and suddenly the past was no longer a problem, and I didn't miss the goodness of my childhood, because I realized I was on the other side of trouble and I was going to be okay

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 1:27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; Romans 1:22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, When you know enough to know you don't know it all, wisdom begins -
That would be up to God and God alone, If he sees fit so be it But so far his message is pretty much centered on Jesus Christ John 14:6 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Applying Ocaam's Razor to the Creation/Evolution Discussion
Riverwalker replied to Riverwalker's topic in Science and Faith
But keeping to the theme of the original post...keep it simple. Do not extrapolate beyond the evidence given Hebrews 11: 11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. -

But no proof of an expanding universe that was caused by a big bang that was a super blob of mass and energy that blew up and created all of this What it proves...is things (within in our VERY limited observable range) are moving -
Is this how you want to live your life? Bitter and angry towards people? You must keep in mind that you and I are no better than any of them, and that the ONLY thing standing between us and the gates of hell is the grace of God. Life is like a garden and bitterness and unforgiveness are like weeds that will keep our garden from flourishing. Do not let the people who upset have the power to ruin your life. Forgive them, give them to God and let them go, and let your garden be filled with happy little daisies and the bounty of God's blessings

Not sure where you are going with this. I do agree we cannot pretend these things didn't happen, but should we be identifying ourselves with them, or with the new life we have been given in Christ II Cor 5: 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. I never suffered such a thing myself so I will defer to one who has

All child molesters should be dealt with....there is FAR more going on in our public schools than in our churches (and not just catholic) that being said hate only poisons you, it does not hurt the object of your hate. As A Christian we must rise above our base nature and forgive (but NOT forget) God will deal with them as he sees fit, leave it to Him You are survivor of this ugliness and I know it is hard to overcome. But you have to let the peace and joy of our Lord rule in your heart and let go this hate bitterness and unforgiveness. After all your dad did to that creep, it really didn't change anything did it? Be healed, Be whole, Be a new creation in Christ, let go of the past and live for the future

There is an additional part of our maturation process 1 john 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces [a]patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. Used to hate the scripture but after almost 40 years of being a Christian and walking through a few refiner's fires I see the wisdom

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Galatians 5:4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. The law was completed and we no longer follow it. Now we love God and Love each other, and in this all the law is fulfilled

God's three step prescription of fear and anxiety 1. Give it all to God in prayer....casting your cares on him for he cares for you 2. THANK HIM for taking care of it, Trust that he will take care of it. 3. Once you've put it in his hands, do not take it back. Rather think about good things and let His peace reign in your heart Philippians 4: 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Meditate on These Things 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

I have experienced fiery preachers who blather on but say very little. I have never heard a teacher, no matter who bland the delivery ever say nothing (And then I have heard the firey preachers say quite a bit) So the content is more important than the delivery. I don't want to hear some man's opinion I want to hear the word of God This can be done right through fiery preaching and it can be done wrong (Billy Graham did a good job at being both fiery and word driven) but again I have never seen it done wrong with teaching. So I will default to teaching

What she said. Listen to the words they say, compare them with scripture and if they are harmonious with scripture take them in, if not reject them. Its not about talking to spirits. But rather discerning the spirit in which the words are given Someone claiming to be special, or to have a special revelation, or to use the word to manipulate into giving to them....would be examples of word not of the Holy Spirit.

Is this statement biblical? Please give me your opinion
Riverwalker replied to SIC's topic in General Discussion
Jesus is the door and the way is open to anyone who humbly seeks. But the way is narrow, you have to put down your burdens of sin, pride, and all to get in. -
I'd like y'all's opinion on something especially the ladies
Riverwalker replied to SIC's topic in General Discussion
I do not think either rise to the level of misogyny 1 Sounds extremely selfish 2. And I am not sure how you can blame the leadership on how people choose to participate, especially since the leadership had nothing to do with your bailing on the group in example 1 -
Who were those People?

Right but without knowing when this occurred in the time line they could be cousins 3 times removed and he would not know them
