I reread this question and my initial response and whole my initial response is okay it may not have gone far enough. I have added numbers for clarity #1. There are pastors who do let power go to their heads and over-step their boundaries. If that happens the husband should step in and say something and make sure the pastor knows he has gone too far. Of course this is done tactfully, wisely and carefully. if the pastor responds in a negative way, then it may be time to consider a switch in churches. There is no biblical verse I know that allows for the pastor of any congregation to undermine the role of the husband in the marital relationship. While wives are to submit to their husbands, that does not mean that they get to thumb their nose at what the pastor says to them, they need to talk with their husbands to see if the pastor is correct or not. Women should double check to make sure what they are told is biblical and of God. I point you to the passage in Judges concerning theborth of Samaon Jdg 13:3 The angel of the LORD appeared to her and said, you are sterile and childless, but you are going to conceive and have a son. ... Jdg 13:6 Then the woman went to her husband and told him, a man of God came to me. He looked like an angel of God, very awesome. I didn't ask him where he came from, and he didn't tell me his name. .. Jdg 13:8 Then Manoah prayed to the LORD: Lord, I beg you, let the man of God you sent to us come again to teach us how to bring up the boy who is to be born.? Jdg 13:9 God heard Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman while she was out in the field; but her husband Manoah was not with her. (NIV) Notice the woman went to her husband then the husband went to God and as you see, God does not have a problem with this double checking. Double checking is also a NT teaching as even pastors may not have the correct information and have been influenced by secular ideas. #2. I think my initial response touches on this part. There is some authority but it is governed by the rules God laid down for both the husband and the pastor--we fo not give blind obedience to the pastor, the church leaders etc., but need to remain cognitive, know the biblical rules and make sure that what the pastor is saying is truly from God. We cannot assume that just because he is a pastor everything he says is God-given or biblical. As an example, I point you to a church in Tuscon Az, where the pastoral staff told the congregation that to be a good christian you need to be in church 7 days a week. That is not biblical teaching. While the pastoral staff has authority from God to instruct, discipline etc., that authority does not go past what God has taught in the Bible. Nor does it get to undermine the husband and his authority #3. This is a depends issue and not a general one for pastors can honestly make mistakes in their attempts to help a family and unknowingly go too far. We need to be discerning in this issue and not make a blanket rule to cover all instances. Sometimes it is a yes answer and sometimes it is not. it all depends upon th epastor, his attiude, his leadership principles and so on. #4. one of the problems in this issue and answering your question is the existence of denominations and their structure. There were no real denominations that we know of in the 1st century or maybe in the 2nd. Denominations sometimes go overboard in their instructions to their pastors. Denominations also add a lot of rules that are not found in the Bible or the early church and those rules can and some times do interfere with the family structure. (see example in #2) The church i snot lord over the family nor should it interfere with the time the husband needs with his loved ones. In other words, the church should not be requiring the people to be involved so much with church programs that the family suffers. Now each man must determine for himself how much authority he will allow a pastor to have but it is never wise to give too much authority for then the husband finds that no one listens to him. The husband is charged with leading the family not the pastor. Now all of this does not mean that the pastor cannot give advice to the husband, or wife, point out a practice of sin etc. but it needs to be done tactfully and biblically. The pastor should be dealing with issues from the pulpit not interfering with the husbands domain. Now what does all this mean if the husband is not the greatest person in the world? It means that the pastor should be telling the husband the right way to live and treat his family and well-meaning people and church leaders, pastors included, should not be counseling his wife to divorce her husband or tell her to take the kids and head for the hills. There is NO biblical permission that I am aware of for people to tear apart the family structure. Personal views and emotions are not permitted in these situations. You need to go by the book an din this case that book is the bible not some secular counselor or ideology.

I'm not noisy in church but I AM quite outspoken outside of it. Still waiting for the Truth, Archaeologist. you like to give your opinions, as I do, and I'm sure you have an answer. of course I do but since I am leaving tomorrow I will keep it to myself. so far I haven't lied or misrepresented the Bible or God so you need to be the judge of my words She is, and so are others. We also know a person by their fruits. which post are you responding to? why does she need defending?

U.S. pilots:- Obama blocks airstrikes against ISIS
archaeologist55 replied to OakWood's topic in U.S. News
I find that obama was and is a disappointment as he campaigned in for his first term on the premise of change yet it was business as usual and the change was not for everyone just homosexuals and transgenders only. He has not led like he should have, for example his insurance plan. That plan could have been so much better and done more for the people His handling of the multiple Muslim issue has been equally disappointing. -
I have never heard that there is such a thing as a "pure translation." I am not even sure what that is supposed to mean.. Here's a step towards a Revelation from the Father in heaven..... Titus 1:15 ►Parallel VersesNew International Version To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. New Living Translation Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted. English Standard Version To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. Berean Study Bible To the pure, all things are pure; but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure. Indeed, both their minds and their consciences are defiled. Berean Literal Bible To the pure all things are pure; but to those being defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure. Instead, both their mind and conscience are defiled. New American Standard Bible To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. King James Bible Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. Holman Christian Standard Bible To the pure, everything is pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; in fact, both their mind and conscience are defiled. International Standard Version Everything is clean to those who are clean, but nothing is clean to those who are corrupt and unbelieving. Indeed, their very way of thinking and their consciences have been corrupted. NET Bible All is pure to those who are pure. But to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their minds and consciences are corrupted. Aramaic Bible in Plain English For to the pure everything is pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure, but their mind and conscience is defiled. While this is a beautiful verse, it's context has nothing to do with bible translations which, by their very nature, cannot perfectly capture all that is contained and communicated in the original languages. This is a simply statement of fact that all properly educated translaters know. you would be in error on that

if they are honest, they will answer honestly. i have found throughout the years that people really do not want the truth so yes there is a point to this. how many people will be honest, is the question. Are you saying that if people do not vote that they are dishonest? read what i wrote again. And if they don't answer at all? What does that say? that they didn't answer for the most part no one is twisting your arm to answer or respond so why get your knickers in a twist over this thread

Subject for another thread. Good point, thanks brother. not really, if you want to know the truth about which translations are best then this is the thread for that as well the magazine supports 3--NIV1984, NASB, & the KJV This would need a separate thread since the NIV, the NASB, and the KJV are not equal by any means. the Bible says that God will preserve his word and those three translations have preserved his word in English quite well. The fault lies with those who use the 'science of hermeneutics' to get back to the original words when in reality there are no real manuscripts or autographs that contain 'the original words'* to compare with. I am not a fan of the NET Bible and there are some like the message and another that are products of people's personal bias and have nothing to do with God at all. * by that phrase I mean the words actually penned by the biblical authors, given that we have the original words of God today since he preserved his word. if he didn't then he would not be a fair and just God.

i think we can see some of it in this thread as well. there are comments that make one suspicious and if we look at the Christmas or communion thread, you can see more of it And now, your true colors have shown-you have no actual want, or need for the truth-you just want to use this thread-to flame others who disagree with you. people who make accusations really should have roof before they speak. your comment is nowhere close to what is represented in those posts

I'd like to know the point too. Jesus said, "I am the way the TRUTH and the life, no one comes to the Father but by Me" That is the only truth we need to know. So what is it that you are trying to get across here by having this post? the bold words highlight your error. with so many people putting their interpretive spin on the Biblical content, there is a lot more truth to learn and understand

or they want a watered down version of the truth. interesting to note that there have been 4 posters and only 2 votes oh as an addendum to the my response above, reading this website i see many people opting for interpretation over the truth or they will accept what they feel they want to be the truth and fight against those who bring the real truth to the forums.

Why Christians Shouldn’t Kill Baby Hitler

DO YOU AND OR YOUR CHURCH CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN
archaeologist55 replied to SINNERSAVED's topic in General Discussion
do you celebrate Christmas? Yes,I celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.Santa Claus is not in my celebration.I like Christmas trees.I do not think they are evil I don't believe jesus birth ,was on the 25th of December ? I believe this is a pagan worship day, by the roman catholic church ,this is not a Christian day at all, and there is a scripture, about that Christmas tree, there is a verse in the bible ,that talks about it, jeremiah chapter # 10 v 3 -5 about the tree and what god thinks of it, Now if you take the n out of the santa ,and put it at the end of the word , it spells satan, huh.. ? and he comes through the fire place that's odd? food for thought ? You are wrong. Jeremiah 10: 3-65 has nothing to do with the Christmas tree. It is talking about cutting down a tree, and carving the image of one of their gods out of the tree and then plating it with gold and silver and purple clothing. The Christmas tree finds its origin in 14th century Germany and is actually attributed to Martin Luther. He was walking home one winter night and looked up at stars through the limbs of evergreen trees and it almost appeared as if the stars were sitting on the limbs and it gave him the idea of what we now call the Christmas tree. There are no examples of Christmas trees anywhere in the ancient near east. the legend involving Luther is but one of many unprovable myths http://www.allaboutjesuschrist.org/origin-of-the-christmas-tree-faq.htm http://www.whychristmas.com/customs/trees.shtml -
Creation and an Old Earth - One Possibility
archaeologist55 replied to Riverwalker's topic in Science and Faith
#1. just so you know we dealt with the issue of starlight in our 2nd issue science and the church #2. a word of advice, do not go to secular science for your support. remember secular science is led by unbelievers who are deceived, their ideas of what pertains to evidence are far off the mark. #3. then remember there is nothing recorded anywhere by any real authority that state that dust on the moon, starlight etc., are the right indicators to use to determine the age of the earth or universe. #4. there is no biblical command to seek the age of the earth or universe. the focal point of Genesis 1 is God and what he did by speaking. -
Student beating,student arrested?
archaeologist55 replied to kwikphilly's topic in Weird and Wacky News
Actually part of the problem came when the west removed corporal punishment and teacher authority from the schools. The Philippines is experiencing this problem right now and so was South Korea when they removed corporal punishment but unlike the Philippines and the West, South Korea rectified the problem by re-instating CP. Another part of the problem came when the education offices gave students more rights than the teachers, whereby the ended any effectiveness the teachers had. In Korea the only time the cops were called was when the students committed an actual crime, the homeroom teachers dealt with the problems. By relying on the police to handle these students all the staff and education boards are saying to the students is that they are incapable of handling problems. To answer your initial question, it is because kids know that they can get away with it and that their teachers and parents are handcuffed in disciplining them. We saw the rise of abuse of teachers when CP was removed and too many rights given to the students. A lot also depended upon the instructions given to the students by their parents. We had a boy whose parents told him that he did not have to listen to any teacher, so when he was disciplined for disturbing the class, he would just get up and walk out of the classroom ignoring the teacher. Just so you know, the cop went too far and let his emotions dictate his actions and influence his judgment instead of behaving like a wise adult but then what is expected from cops is often equal to the lowest common denominator not wise judgment. -
Student beating,student arrested?
archaeologist55 replied to kwikphilly's topic in Weird and Wacky News
as disappointing as this was to hear about I am not shocked nor surprised that it took place. In my career as a teacher, the students had to worry about teachers putting them into the hospital not the cops. when it happened guess what-- the parents didn't sue or get angry at the teachers, they supported them. -
How do you react when married people flirt with you?

Gosh, what a refreshingly different view from the culture in which we live. Thank you! thank yiou. sadly too many christian men and women do not accept that point of view
