  5. Yo abc. Just a quick clarification: the media is doing its best to belittle trump, vance, and their campaigns and make them appear in the most horrible light possible. To answer your questions: 1. In the Usa.. is calling people samoan or malaysian used as a form of insult? No 2. In the Usa.. are people from Samoa or Malaysia often assumed to be of "low I.Q" ? No 3. Why is Puerto Rico being refered to as a "floating island of garbage"? The person who said that is a comedian known for making such comments against all races, for which he has been dropped by his agent and lost jobs as a result in the past. His comments this time were met with a lot of criticism by republicans and democrats. 4. In the above phrase.. does the term "garbage" refer to any specific physical situation in the island (if any).. or are all human beings of Puerto Rican descent /ethnicity considered as "garbage" in the Usa? Puerto ricans are not looked down on as far as I know. My father used to work with a bunch of them when my family lived in new york waaaay long ago. He got along great with them. Puerto rico is a territory and wants to stay as such even though they have been offered statehood repeatedly. They also had a lot of hurricane damage in past hurricanes and likely had a lot more in the recent hurricanes. Perhaps that is why it was refered to as a floating island of garbage.... the debris from the hurricane not a comment on the people. However I do not have a clue what that comedian was thinking. I hope this helps
  6. When I was undergoing cancer treatment, and was very weak, I had no energy to partake of the deep discussions. And last year, which was a very rough time with both of my parents passing, I just could not handle the debates in those threads. Sometimes folks are not able to cope with the debates and want the fellowship without the arguing.
  7. Israel's military responded to an Iranian missile attack by conducting "precise strikes on military targets in Iran" on Friday, in a move that appeared to push the Middle East to a new, more dangerous and multi-front phase of conflict a year after Hamas' Oct. 7 attacks on Israel. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2024/10/25/israels-military-strikes-iran/75478391007/
  8. Is she a lecturer at a general university or at a theological university? She may be rogue or she may be part of an overall woke university view. If the university itself supports her views, and it is a theological university, you may need to ask yourself if this is the right place for you. Otherwise, it may be worth talking to an advisor at the university but I highly doubt confronting her will do anything except cause you to fail her class.

  10. I am curious. Which bible scholars do you admire?
  11. @RootedDude I hope you will stay and contribute Sadly there are many online everywhere who are mean. Try to ignore them
  12. @Alive I had something similar to a damascus road moment. I had read the bible when I was younger but never believing. When I was 30, a man from work took me to a bible study. Still didnt get it. But when I got home, I walked in the door, looked at the ceiling and said "is this what you want from me Lord, to believe that He is Your Son?" Thats when the whirlwind went through me. I dropped to my knees sobbing. When I stopped I sat up and thought "oh the bible is true. oh the Trinity is true etc" It was like my inner being was reprogramed in one moment. The next day at work, I felt in an upheaval still processing what happened, but another coworker said he had never seen such a look of peace on anyone before.
  13. We will miss you. Can you use a cell phone to get on worthy? Thats what I do when Im not home.
  14. Where I live, in the summer, its blazing hot. Even up to 50 C (120 F) so people stay indoors for 9 months of the year. That can cause the same type of seasonal affective disorder that affects those in much colder climates. Lack of sun can affect you.
  15. Cricket neglected to tell me their tower was down due to weather. After a summer frustrated that I could not contact doctors etc, I switched to verizon. It is the only one that works consistently where I live.
  16. God is able to affect the sun. He stopped the sun's movement according to Joshua 10 12 Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun! Stand still on Gibeon! And, moon, stand still in the valley of Aijalon! 13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stood still , until the people had avenged themselves on their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? And the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens, and did not hasten to go down about a whole day. 14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD listened to the voice of a man. For the LORD fought for Israel. Are you saying God is unable to do what the bible said He did here?
  17. If it was only miami or key west, gay communities, then that could be the case. But asheville too? I also suspection the push for abortion has God rather upset too.
  18. TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — Students are accusing the University of Arizona of selling their data to the Kamala Harris campaign without their knowledge. News 4 Tucson's NBC affiliate in Phoenix, 12 News reports that Arizona State University students also received Kamala Harris campaign texts. They say the Arizona Board of Regents claims a federal law called "FERPA" allows political candidates to buy college students' contact information. https://www.kvoa.com/news/ua-students-worried-about-how-kamala-harris-campaign-obtained-their-data-for-political-text-messages/article_a15f8684-85f0-11ef-a61e-1327134a3ee1.html There is a photo of the text on a student's phone.
  19. About time politicians condemned this. Long past time politicians cared that americans are held hostage. Since when do we abandon our people the way this administration has.

  21. One misuse that sometimes crops up (although thankfully not as often any more) is the prayer of Jabez. There was even a book about it, claiming all sorts of answered prayers riches etc if one just prayed it. The book and its followers rather missed the point of its place in the bible. 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 9 And Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. And his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bore him with sorrow. 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that You would bless me indeed, and make my border larger, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, so that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he asked.
  22. Fortunately there are still plenty of believers out there. However I seem to see more and more Christian churches embracing ideas that are counter to the Lord.
