  1. Hi WW69, No you aren't wrong to feel uncomfortable about a woman being around married men. She is being downright disrespectful to you - unfortunately, some men will plead that its all above board and not to worry etc etc but we all know the workings and little games between female/male situations and I don't buy it when people say "don't worry" - they know as you (we) know that its not right - you don't have to be a Christian to know that. Sorry if I'm coming across harsh (I don't mean to), but I despise the little games men and women play.
  2. Very interesting I've never viewed David as a boy of 8-10, more between 12-15yrs. Boys from that era were more physically built than today's boys of the same age - used to physical labour of some sort. Many shepherds and cattlemen from Africa, Middle East play some form of musical instrument - eg:wooden flutes . We know David was indeed brave, as he killed lion and bear while protecting his flock - so all of these things made me aware we weren't talking about a slight year 5 schoolboy type. As for his height - that I do not know - and yes, his sling shot was the type you mentioned, not the Y shaped frame sling. Some folk also believe Goliath was a nephilim.
  3. Hello, My 2 cents worth is, it is not bad to be proud of who you are and where you came from (this includes every human being on this planet) - it is wrong however, when a person thinks they are superior to someone else in any regard - be it race, intellectual, wealth etc. Every person, whether it be individually or collectively has a history worth knowing, so go for it and work on that project and hand it in with pride. That's my 2 cents worth.

  6. Hi Q93, I have heard that the ridges on the Sphinx are indeed from water and that the sphinx pre-dates the pyramids.
  7. * This has been a powerful article for me. Its about a police officer who talked a man out of ending his life. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2323468/Kevin-Berthia-Emotional-reunion-suicidal-man-hero-police-officer-Kevin-Briggs-talked-Golden-Gate-Bridge.html
  8. Hello, My hope is you don't go through it. As someone who lost a brother through suicide, it's hard to take. You may think you are 'free' but you will leave pain behind for others. I know at this point you probably don't care- and I have no idea what you have been through and I'm sorry you are at this point right now. Please don't do it where there is life, there is hope. Once you are gone, all your options cease
  9. Hi Butero, My reply to SJeff wasn't about that particular verse but about the heart . Mankind has a false mindset that if one is appealing to the eye, they must be a good person. Not so - that is where my response to SJeff was coming from. * personally, I have no problem with the verse but people get fixated on the 'long' part - as I have said before, long hair for some women is not a reality - However, I agree with the verse and am also not opposed to women wearing a head covering in Church or private if they so wish.
  10. Yes, God looks at the heart. It is humankind that places value on physical beauty.
  11. That's right - not all women can have that idealised long beautiful hair that men like.
  12. Yes, God can use anything, you are 100% - my rationale was simply that Jesus was next to the sea, so since fish was 'right there' so to speak, it was the first option (in my mind). I could be completely off base for sure.
  13. Prove it as in chapter/verse? No I can't - it's just my opinion I could very well be wrong.
  14. Hi Ogner, They were on the shore, so fish was on hand.
  15. Hi Ogner Lamb was eaten at Passover I'm sure. Jesus observed the Passover feast, so I presume He ate meat. re: fish - fish could be preserved (salted/dried etc), so was used as a travelling food item - hence the fish was easily on hand when feeding the masses.
  16. Hi LK, I will also add that long hair isn't a reality for some ethnic groups eg: Afro hair (tight curls/frizzy)...
  17. Hi JTC, I'll just put this link up - I think it answers your question quite well www.christiancourier.com/articles/943-does-the-marriage-of-an-unbeliever-to-a-believer-sanctify-the-unbeliever
  18. Hi Coheir, I agree with you about being "incompatible" with a person due to cultural reasons, and type of upbringing. However, you cannot be incompatible with a person due to "skin colour", as like I have stated before, we are all human beings, of the same species. We know that Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians, that unbelievers and believers who were married were to remain married if the unbeliever was willing to - otherwise the unbelieving spouse was free to leave. The unbelieving spouse by remaining married to the believing spouse was sanctified through that persons belief and faith in God. 1 Corinthians 7 :12-16 * When the Bible tells of not marrying a particular people group, it's because of their cultural practices which go against God - not skin colour.
  19. * If anything, it's the cultural environments that people come from that can be incompatible to some individuals, not skin colour, as we are all human beings.
  20. Hi Coheir, re: not much in common(black/white people) * both human beings * both created in the image of God * both loved by God ......what's not in common? The great man of the OT, Moses, had a black wife . (I don't know what it's like in the US but there are many interracial couples/families in Australia)
  21. I'm not one of those that believe there is someone out there for each and everyone of us. I also don't believe that romance is the jackpot in a marriage. Western society would have you believe romance is to be sought after at all costs and it will make you happy - that's not reality. As for marrying to end loneliness.....yay or nay? I do believe Isaac's marriage to Rebeckah filled the sadness from the loss of his mother. *and no, it's not strange to see yourself living an unmarried life.
  22. oh my goodness!!! , frienduff thaylorde said: "Cranberry juice time brakelite . drink it . and cut your fats way down . that sounds like prostate enlargement. NO worries it happens to about all men over fifty or sixty." .......................... *I never thought this thread would take a sharp left turn into "mens health"..!! So funny
