Adam and Eve were the first humans created. They did not have the knowledge humans have today of good and evil. Of right and wrong. Not all children resist the devil as we know. There are children that are murderers. Serial killers began their evil trek in their childhood. The Bible admonishes parents to lead the children in the way they should go and when they are older they will not depart from it. Parent(s) instruct children in right and wrong. Children are not possessed of that knowledge themselves because they are innocent. As was the case with the first newborns of God's making, Adam and Eve. The fruit of knowledge of right and wrong, good and evil, was forbidden them by God. Eating of that fruit insured they would die to their innocence and oneness with the Father. That's what the Bible says. And it is not ridiculous.
