I could have quoted several people but I need to chime in here: I gotta be honest, I'm becoming impatient with the content of this thread. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. There isn't anything "pagan" about that, no matter how much some of you try to make it that way. Secondly, MG said that Jesus didn't "want us to celebrate anything." I beg the differ. Jesus wanted us to remember him in communion, so, in a sense it is celebrating. ALTHOUGH JESUS NEVER SPECIFICALLY USED THE TERM. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS And I will not be deterred by cynical opinions on a msg board. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!

Something is tugging at my heart and its time to sound off: As Christians, we know that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ, man's savior from sin, death and hell. Christmas is NOT about GREED, BLACK FRIDAY, STRESS, PRESENTS, THE BOTTOM LINE, OR BATTLING WITH YOUR NEIGHBOR OVER OUTDOOR LIGHTING. Nor is it about Santa Claus, or "Making a list or checking it twice". The world loves money and what they can get. BUT, Gimmie will never bury the truth in its greedy mire. As the saying goes: Jesus is the reason for the season. Like Charlie Brown said so well, "Linus is right, I won't let all this commercialism ruin my Christmas." MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL.

And we are NOT "followers" of Jesus. We are his beloved children by faith in him. "Followers" implies a more eastern approach, like following the teachings of Buddah or Ghandi. The Christian life is forever founded in Christ, our savior and greatest friend.

We don't know the whole story on Cassidy either. We're being told what they want us to hear. So, its hard to decide for sure one way or the other.

The Bible is very clear about what happens to an unbeliever when they die. Manson never wanted God's salvation in Christ. So, its easy to figure where he is. And yes, its a horrible. tragic thought.

Touched by an Angel was strictly New Age, milktoast ear candy. It preached the whole "God is love" thing without mentioning that God is also a righteous judge of sinful man. There was no mention of Jesus, even in Christmas episodes. The show was definitely what itching ears wanted to hear. I read an interview Della Reese did during the show's run. When asked why Jesus was never mentioned, she said "Oh, we don't talk about that."
