  1. I think some people are social climbers who will only like you if your are their ally.
  2. The world is in the power of the devil, the Bible teaches us. It's nice to live in unity, but as you say, we mustn't compromise the truth of the Gospel.
  3. Some people "go along to get along." Others try to do the right things. Sometimes these two groups find themselves at odds with each other.
  4. Don’t Democrats hate lies just as much as Republicans? “The pullout of Afghanistan was a resounding success!” “The 3.5 trillion dollar ‘human infrastructure’ bill won’t cost a penny!” “The crisis at the southern border is Donald Trump’s fault!” "I didn't hear my top generals advise me to leave 2500 troops in Afghanistan."
  5. He's probably no worse than one of Israel's evil kings.
  6. I would compare Joe Biden to one of Israel's evil kings, found in the Old Testament.
  7. This would be a practical way to honor one's parents.
  8. I believe honoring your parents means that you don't speak badly of them, if that is possible.
  9. I believe the statement is true for those who obey the Lord. [1] "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber; [2] but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. [3] To him the gatekeeper opens; the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. John 10:1-3 RSV [13] "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. [14] For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Matthew 7:13-14 RSV
  10. Satan is deceptive - he wants us to believe he is a good guy. He masquerades as an angel of light.
  11. Do your realize that when you repent of your sin, you are forgiven? John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Mark 1:4 RSV
  12. Sounds like you should get out of the relationship.
  13. As we previously discussed, words can have more than one meaning. In some contexts you use meaning #1, in some contexts you use meaning #2, in some contexts you use meaning #3, etc.
  14. It depends on the context. Stubbornly obeying the Lord, in a world that would have you do otherwise, is a good thing.
  15. Yes, most words have several meanings, don't they?
  16. I suppose it depends on what definition of "stubborn" you are using. Here is one from an online Merriam-Webster dictionary: justifiably unyielding : RESOLUTE https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stubborn
  17. I don't think stubbornly obeying the Lord is a negative thing. The world wants you to disobey the Lord. Don't do it.
  18. I don't think the Lord would complain if you stubbornly obeyed him.
  19. Because most people don't stubbornly obey the Lord?
  20. I suppose there is nothing wrong with "stubbornly" obeying the Lord.
  21. Every so often I post my latest "formula" meant to keep my happy and safe. Here is my latest: 1. We are safe - have faith in the Lord. 2. We have glory (if we obey the Lord). 3. Have fun.
  22. I am seeking peace of mind.
  23. I've never watched it.
  24. We do need to be disciplined when we've done wong, as a parent disciplines a child. It's for our own good.
