When did the earth "become" void? Seems like you are suggesting chaos. If you had done a word study of "hayah" before your outburst you would have realized that the earth "BECAME a chaos" So, your understanding of a young earth has a problem. Literally Genesis 1:1-2 says: In the beginning God created ("bara") the heavens and the earth. The sentence in the Hebrew has the sense of a completed act with nothing to add. The next sentence, verse 2, literally says; But (And) the earth became a Tohu-Bohu .... ... indicating that it was influenced to a state that it was not in before. I don't care what you believe, but even a highschool student knows that if God made the earth "NOT IN VAIN (tohu) - Isaiah 45:18, and Genesis 1:2 says "IT BECAME a chaos, (tohu) then there was a period of time before Adam when good order descended into chaos. If you add a flood and darkness, two signs of God's judgment, you have a very strong argument that something happened. It could be wrong, but a serious scholar will appreciate that there is a good argument.

Okay - Yes. One of the problems with the evening to evening day for the Passover was the nailing to the cross only at 9 a.m. But this problem goes away when we consider the price paid by our Lord Jesus. Matthew 10:28 says that the price for sins is 1. death at the hand of God, and 2. the death of the soul. This Second Death was to be much more feared than mere physical death. And so, already in the Garden of Gethsemane our Lord sweated blood and cried out "My SOUL is sorrowful UNTO DEATH ... " That which is to be feared came first - in the evening, and lasted till our Lord gave up His spirit at 3 p.m. As to the daily oblation, that was a sacrifice morning and evening. But it needed an altar, and thus the Temple.

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." You seem as though you believe God is only able to create one thing at a time, which would mean you don't view God as omnipotent. What logic! God is not omnipotent because He needed six days - by your own logic. But, pray, what made you decide that God is the author of Chaos? In Isaiah 45:18 He says He is not a God of chaos, but in Genesis 1:2 the earth BECAME (lit. Heb.) "tohu" - the same word as in Isaiah above.

Three things might help: 1. Friday comes from Roman Catholic tradition. Their calculations have to fit occult criteria. Easter is calculated by the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox (Northern Hem.) 2. The lamb had to be inspected for four days for blemishes then slaughtered. Add 3 full Hebrew days and fit it backwards from sunset Saturday evening. Wednesday! 3. Remember to calculate Biblical / Hebrew days. They start and end at sunset. Wednesday!

Technically, your question leaves no room for any other answer. But God did not speak "all things into existence" in six days. The light was already there. The trees and seeds were already there. The CREATION was in verse 1. The transformation from darkness and covering with water to inhabitable for men took six days. But there s a better example. In John 1:1 was also a beginning. But the uncreated was already there. Which beginning was that? Then comes the "beginning of the Son" - "this DAY I have begotten Thee". Was not the Son always there? Going back to Genesis 1:1, Job 38 says that the stars of heaven who are the sons of God rejoiced when He laid the earth's foundation. That means tat God made the heavens (His Throne), the the tabernacle in heaven to uphold His holiness. Then the angels. then, sometime later, the earth. And again, sometime later a pre-Adamic creature who inhabited the earth, and who were Lucifer's prisoners. WE cannot say for sure for the waters of judgment left no trace. But we have to account for the demons too. The full argument is done very well by G. H. Pember and his work "Earth's Earliest Ages".

We differ on some points. I will only address crucial points. John 3:3 says we will SEE the Kingdom if we are born again. Moses, from Mount Nebo, SAW the kingdom of Canaan John 3:5 says to ENTER the Kingdom we have to be BOTH born out of the Spirit AND born out of water. If Israel slew the Lamb and painted the blood on doors they would have been spared the angel of death. But if they did not cross the sea they would have died outside the Kingdom of Canaan - like Moses. Man is always called a SOUL (Gen.12:5) It is his Main Part (Gen.2:7). When Jesus died His SOUL went to Hades. HE was in the heart of the earth 3 days and three nights. The Father did not leave HIM in Hades. HE was with the malefactor in Paradise. HE was not in the tomb. His body was. His spirit is not HIM. It was separate and went to the Father. When a man wants to enter te kingdom HE must deny his "SOUL-Life" (psuche - Gk.). David was still in Hades 50 days after Christ's resurrection and 10 days after His ascension (Act.2:25-34). The SOULS of the dead martyrs are under the altar. They prayed. Prayer comes from the SOUL. There is a spiritual realm - agreed. Demons live in bodies or water. There is a demon-realm. Agreed. There is a physical realm - agreed. here is also a heavenly realm, a earthly realm, a "worldly realm" and the realm of the dead. Go well bro. God bless.

Your definition of a Kingdom is spot on. A SPHERE where a certain ruler lives and rules over subjects. A king that is true king but does not live on site is a king in exile. The explanation of the Kingdom of God and the the kingdom of heaven. "THY (God's) kingdom COME (to earth), THY (God's) will be done ON EARTH) as it is in heaven. God is the King of the universe. In a certain corner there is a rebellion where His will is not carried out by certain subjects. God sent Adam to subdue the Serpent. He failed. God sends the Second Adam. He s rejected by His own but conquers the Serpent morally. When the designated King comes again, He will defeat the Serpent MILITARILY. The Kingdom of God (OUT OF) heaven must wait for the presence of the designated King. The designated King is present in believers spirit. Thus, the Kingdom can be IN you (Lk.17:21) he designated King first opposed the Principalities. Thus the Kingdom can be "among you" (Matt.12:28) The Kingdom is the Serpent's to give (Lk.4). He will be dispossessed in Revelation 11:15 The co-kings must EARN their inheritance and kingship by proving self discipline and obedience to the King of kings To inherit the Kingdom of God, a man must partake of the nature of God. Thus, the Re-birth To ENTER the Kingdom of God one must have the nature of God AND enter Abraham's covenant Circumcision is man's part to inherit the Kingdom of Israel Baptism replaces circumcision for the Kingdom (OUT) OF Heaven (Col.2:10-12) Christ's Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom. The first 1,000 years are a REWARD for obedience and intimacy towards the King In the previous age, the Kingdom OUT of heaven is hidden. In this age the kingdom of heaven is IN MYSTERY (Matt.13). In the next age the Kingdom out of heaven will be MANIFESTED To Abraham and his seed is Canaan given. For denying the "world" the Promise is extended to the whole world (Rom.4:13) "My Kingdom is not of this WORLD". The Greek for "world" is "kosmos". It means 1. "the ADORNMENT" and/or 2. "the ORDERLY ARRANGEMENT OF THINGS". Jesus made and owns the world but is not partaker of the way things are run by ungodly men. He died for, and loves the world "The Adornment", but refuses fallen man's "arrangement of things" politically and economically

There was one beginning called "creation"**. The word "bara" (created out of nothing) is not used again until the souls of animated creatures were created. The literal translation of verse 2 is " But the earth became a tohu-bohu ...". This shows a process of good order disintegrating into chaos. God cast the chaotic earth under water and switched off the lights. 1st Corinthians 14:33; "God is not the Author of confusion ... ". So also Isaiah 45:18; *** 18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. Is 45:18. The word "vain" is the same word as Genesis 1:2 - "tohu". The two coverings of water are somewhat hidden in 2nd Peter 3:5-6; 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. "And" is a conjunction which is copulative, cumulative and sequential. The earth of old (v.6) was one standing OUT of water (Gen.1.1 - v.5b) and then IN water (Gen.1:2 - v.5c). That world was overflowed with water (at Noah's time - v.6). ** This s shown in type. Israel cross the Red Sea and then Jordan. In the first, Egypt and idol worship is buried: In the second the old nature is left buried (12 stones). *** Not the three different words used in this verse. God "created" (bara - Heb) "formed" (yatsar - Heb.) the earth (from elements), "made" ("asah"). So also Genesis 2:7.

The astute student of scripture can see from the sentence construction and grammar that something happened between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 record past events that have never happened since Moses started writing the Bible - a rebellion that ended in darkness and a covering of water. Whether or not one accepts this, the fact is that what God did in 6 days in the rest of Genesis Chapter 1 is NOT the creation - but a restoration using available materials. The Hebrew word used in everything except the creation of the living creatures, is “asah”, which means "to MAKE an object out of existing materials." Man was made last, probably late on the sixth day. God saw tat things were “very good”, but that does not mean that things were perfect. God gave the man He had made two active roles, both of them presupposing trouble. Man was to “subdue” the earth and its environs of sea and sky, and man was to “dress and keep the garden of fellowship”. And the end of this matter was a Dragon and his man versus God and His Man in an epic Two-Pronged fight for the earth that involved inevitable death for mankind. At the end of six days of work God had His man in place to subdue and work on God’s Garden of Fellowship. But this man failed and God was robbed of His Sabbath Rest. But strangely God did not define this Rest by "the evening and the morning". Rather, He said; "IN the DAY you eat of a certain Tree you will surely die." In Hebrews 3 and 4 we learn of a second attempt by God with a chosen people, Israel, to have a Sabbath Rest. But the generation freed from Egypt with God’s mighty arm, having seen the actions of the Almighty, failed in disbelief and were banned to die outside the “Land of Milk and Honey”. The generation that did go in 40 years later did occupy, but their children were ejected after about 860 years, having been beaten by a Two-Pronged attack - moral decay and military. God was again robbed of His Sabbath Rest. But Hebrews 4:8-11 promises a new and future Sabbath Rest for God and His People. The first Sabbath was cut short by Adam’s death after 930 years and the Second Sabbath was cut short by wholesale defeat militarily by Gentiles before 900 years had past. Some 400 years later, God’s Second Man - Jesus - came and exacted a telling moral defeat over the Serpent. But His People, Israel, refused to join Him in this moral battle. Jesus then retired to a place of extreme authority - the Father’s Throne - with the duty of building an army which could first display the morality and glory of God, and second, fight a battle that would remove the ability of the Dragon to rule the earth. In doing so, he would succeed where other men had failed - to give His Father, God, His Sabbath Rest. 1st Corinthians records this successful period of the Sabbath Rest of God. 20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 1st Cor.15:20–26. In keeping with His mastery of languages, the Holy Spirit wrote very efficiently. This sometimes makes extra study necessary. But in the end the sequence is clear: 1. Christ rises from the dead thus defeating death 2. Christ, being “Firstfruits”, implies a a future harvest of men, thus defeating death 3. This harvest, specially designed to build His army, is “when He comes” 4. Then He must reign which implies force and retribution 5. This force and retribution produces more dead - seemingly counter-productive 6. But not so for the “life-giving Spirit” (v.45). The “reigning” must undergo a test 7. After a decisive battle with the Dragon and his men at Harmon-Gog, ALL men of “the rest of the dead are raised” This all takes place after 6,000 years since the First Man, and encompasses the 7th 1,000-year. For men it is a long time, but for God 1,000 years is “as” a day - the SEVENTH DAY - or a Millennium. This is the time Christ will take command of the earth, rule it from Jerusalem, subdue criminals, subdue rebellion, subdue religion and subdue death - the last and great enemy of God. For a “day” of 1,000 years, God has His Man in place. But unlike Adam and Israel, who failed before the 1,000 years of Sabbath Rest was over, Christ’s Kingdom survive, with honors, 1,000 years on the earth as we know it with summer an winter, and then, after another renewal, forever.

A "realm" is defined as 1. a kingdom, 2. a field of interest and/or 3. a distinct area of activity. To "live" is to partake of vitality. According to Genesis 2:7 man is made of three parts. 1st Thessalonians 5:23 says that a man is "whole" if the three parts are joined together. At death the three parts a disjointed and go to a dedicated place. Ecclesiastes 3:21 and 12:7 say that the spirit of man returns to God Who gave it. Matthew 12:40 has the soul of Jesus in Hades in the center of the earth and this is confirmed by the final resurrection in Revelation 20 where Hades "gives up its dead". But what is interesting is that though the soul lives on, it is called "the DEAD". The body of a dead man returns to the elements of the earth. Resurrection is promised to all men (1st Cor.15:22) - ALL who died in Adam - which is every man or woman who ever lived except Jesus. The realms then are 1. heaven, 2. earth (both for the living), 3. Hades (for the dead). A dead man is unclean and naked. He/she CANNOT appear in heaven unclean and/or naked. He can appear in heaven before death (Enoch and Elijah) or after resurrection (Jesus). Hell is a pagan concept. It does not appear in the Bible. Three words are used in the Greek. 1. Hades - a place for disembodied SOULS, 2. Gehenna - a CONDITION of inward and outward torment, and 3. Tartaroo - a PLACE for fallen angels (which are spirit beings - 2nd Pet.2:4, Ps.104:4). Thus, we have the realm of God, the realm of angels, the realm of demons, the realm of earth, the real of the living and the realm of the dead. On the night after His resurrection Jesus showed Himself to his disciples. He told them to touch and handle Him to show that He was "flesh and bone" - physical, and NO spirit. The term "spiritual" means either 1. the object is spirit substance like God is (Jn.4:24), or 2. it had its origin in the Holy Spirit.

All of this is feasible. We sure live in interesting times. I wonder if we 'll remember our opinions when the real thing happens. The reason I go for the simple format is that the mark is visible and carries the number and name of the Beast. It is not the world's population that must register, but an obvious sign of being connected to the Beast. What peaks my interest is the lack of scripture showing Christians caving in and taking the Mark. Could it be that the Beast only wants to kill them because he knows that a Christian has already called on his adversary - the Lord Jesus. Just thinking.
-
As an acquaintance of @George, and having discussed at length his vision for this Forum, I dare to say that @Dennis1209 has the freedom to address any "silly" idea he would like to. It is your right to object to his argument but not his right to post. If the ten toes are his interest of the day, let's allow him to voice his opinion. Proving him wrong with sustained logical argument is much more appropriate for a brother who is "Yoked". By the way, I think your view of the iron has much merit.

I can make no claim to special understanding, but to my way of thinking no technology will be needed. Every body has a VISIBLE Mark on the forehead or hand. As doctor, policeman, grocery store cashier and/or ships captain, you deal with people with this mark and report people who do not have it. Not even a telephone is needed. Your only loophole is that somebody with the mark secretly helps. This seems t be the case because in the wilderness of Revelation 12 "the earth helps" - not God. And in Matthew 25 the sheep and goat judgment (they are "ALL Nations") is based upon how "ALL Nations" treated "the least of the Lord's brethren". This, of course, does not mean that technology will not be available. It is just that when you're dealing with countries like Mozambique and Myanmar, technology is sparse and unreliable. The Beast has to police 8 billion (reducing) initially, and the center of the Congo or the Amazon can be problematic for communications towers. His best resource, like Nazi Germany, is the neighbors.

I attempted to correct "6th year" of Solomon to 4th year, but was unable.
-
I salute you. Even if some disagree, you have done a scholarly work. I have no objection, but would like to point out the difficulty of these calculations. In 1 Kings 6 Solomon begins the foundations of the Temple. You rightly say "in the 480th year since the Exodus and the 6th year of Solomon's reign. But in Acts Chapter 13, Paul makes the same calculation and comes to 573 years - a difference of 93 years. the solution is easy but it still leaves two different calculations by God in His inspired Word. You used the 480 years - prophetic years with 93 years less. I could easily use the 573 years as scriptural and inspired. The end result is different anyway. The second difficulty is with Paul's prayer in 1st Thessalonians 5:23. He prayed for the Thessalonian saints to be alive (whole men) for the coming of the Lord. Technically, the rapture could have occurred right after Paul's death. Sir Robert Anderson did a masterful work. But he still had to rely on secular dating. He is probably correct but not by the Bible.

The Lord, in making man, joined Himself to a creature to rule the creature (Gen.1:26-28). But in these verses is another word - "subdue". That is, a rebellion in progress is implied and it is the job of man to sort this out. Satan, according to Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28, was the former governor of the earth and it would seem from his temptation of Jesus that Adam was divested of his inheritance. Satan offers our Lord Jesus the Kingdoms of this earth as "his to give". This must be a true statement otherwise it was no temptation. About 4,000 years after Adam was created, a Second Adam was placed on earth. Since God's councils cannot be overturned, and Jehovah had given the earth to man to subdue and rule, this Second Adam brought with Him a Kingdom which would end in the "seed of the woman" crushing the serpent AND HIS SEED (Gen.3:15). The battle end with TWO MEN facing off. BOTH live at the time of John. Both are kings. Both die. One has been resurrected and one will be resurrected. The SEED of the serpent is a Roman who comes out of the Nations (the sea) and comes out of the Abyss (Hades) in resurrection. One has all authority in heaven and on earth and the other is given "ALL POWER over kindreds, nations and tongues" (Rev.13:7) Four signs are given the Church to indicate who this Beast of Satan's is 1. he does lying wonders 2. he has a big part in establishing the daily oblation in Jerusalem 3. since the Temple is needed for the daily oblation he has a part in rebuilding the Temple 4. he is known to suffer a deadly head wound and survive Therefore, 2nd Thessalonians 2 can say to the Church, "they will see the man of sin REVEALED" (2:3). But suddenly the children of the kingdom, followers of the Second Adam, hit a very noticeable problem. From the end of Revelation 3 the Church is NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN. But we still find members of the Church. That is ominous. The word "Ekklesia", used for the Church, means "a gathering of the called-out ones". But what we find is "the DIVIDING of the called-out ones". Four scriptures indicate member of the "Ekklesia" are away from the earth and the reign of the Beast, and four scriptures have members of the "Ekklesia" ON EARTH during the Beast's reign. And even more ominous is that this DIVISION of the "Ekklesia" is only healed 1,000 years later. Here they are; 1. In Matthew 24 a House witha Householder, who should be vigilant for "THEIR LORD" suffers the "House" to be divided 2. In Luke 21:35-36 the aim set by our Lord was, before the Tribulation starts, to "stand before Jesus". At this time our Lord Jesus has not reached the earth and is in the clouds 3. In Philippians 3:9-14 Paul shows us a "special resurrection" (ex-anastasis) that one must be WORTHY OF, and a PRIZE of an Upward-call (lit. Gk.) - the same two subjects of the rapture in 1st Thessalonians 4:12-17 4. In Revelation 3:10 our Lord promises ONLY OVERCOMERS that they will be kept FROM the hour of trial for the WHOLE earth Conversely, we find the Lord's people on earth, very defeated, in; 1. Revelation 7:9-16 with tears, heat and thirst 2. Revelation 12:17 fleeing to a wilderness and persecuted 3. Revelation 13:7 DEFEATED by the Beast 4. Revelation 18:4 residing in Mystery Babylon I propose that the pre-tribulation rapture for the whole Church is a MYTH. I propose that ONLY Overcomers and mature Christians will be found "WORTHY" to miss the Great Tribulation. I propose from the various records of the judgment of the Church that only SOME will be found worthy to be co-kings with Jesus (e.g. Lk.19:17-19). I propose that the slothful and unworthy Christians will face the Beast.

We have so many trials and shortcomings in this life - why?
AdHoc replied to Vine Abider's topic in General Discussion
I think you've both got it right. All the evil ever committed by men was purposefully put on an innocent man. Nobody helped God to plan and execute Golgotha. And then Isaiah tells us that God afflicted Jesus - which would be right if you believe Matthew 10:28. But there is legal ramification to this. Jesus was a volunteer. In Gethsemane our future stood on a knife edge. Jesus, faced with the "hour of darkness" in the which His constant fellowship with His Father would be broken, expressed His inner resistance; "Father, if be possible ....."! And it was possible!!! The Father, by nature, is 100% righteous. He would NEVER force the innocent to bear the guilt of the criminal. One word from a Man sweating blood and the cup would pass. But He did not make that fateful decision and BOTH the Father and the Son ALLOWED it. It was the late Chuck Missler who said that Golgotha was no tragedy. It was a most well planned military action with eternal results. No man has since faced what our Lord Jesus faced - all alone, for His friends had no feeling for the hour that was at hand. They slept. With our bellies full of good food and money in the bank, we neither perceive what is needed for our transformation, nor would we, like Peter, allow it. After being called "Satan" by our Lord, Peter still slashes with the sword in the garden. But the Law bearing the right to slash was until John Baptist. Another economy is now valid. Peter missed the whole point three times because they did not make sense to a man whose background was Law. The word "meek" is not the same as "humble". Humble is knowing your position when you are of low estate. "Meek" is when you ALLOW what happens to you without resistance. In Romans 8:28-29 two opposites clash. We have been chosen to be God's. What higher position can a man be elevated to? In verse 29 we are "predestined" to be conformed to the image and likeness of Christ. What a future!! But also included in this scripture is the half-hidden command: SHUT UP AND STOP COMPLAINING AND ALLOW GOD TO DO HIS WORK! Brutal? By all means. But needed? Yes! Remember what the Moabites stood for and why God would spit them out; 11 Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed. (Jer.48:10–11). -
Again, I share your sentiments re the U.S.A. of the past. Just your missionary efforts eclipse the economies of many countries. But your example is the declaration of the Jubilee - which God set forth to bless Israel - and no other nation. If you read the whole of Leviticus Chapter 25, you will see that in the 50th years all Israelites are given back their land and relations if they were slaves. Not so the foreigner. He could be a slave for life. God definitely favored His own people. This more than evident in the Covenant with Abraham. And, yes, Mr. Trump can use some choice language. But he is a Gentile and a ruthless man. You don't make it to the Presidency without an inner toughness. His world is one of intrigue, lies, dong illegal favors and toughing through crises. He is the number 1 soldier of the mighty USA military. He makes decisions about war and peace, death and destruction, or peace. He thus speaks like a soldier and their language is not cultivated. We all need the Lord to return. You will be judged worthy or not to be king of a city (Lk.19:17-19). The day will come when a subject residing in your city rapes somebody. You will have been invested with your title and power to RULE with a rod of iron. You will decide on life and death. Are the nations going to dictate to you, or does Christ require that you apply law and order to them? Am I a fan of Mr. Trump? By no means. But according to Romans 13 he is God's choice. He bears the sword. Let us be glad he chooses a line of action which might profit Americans - even if he is a bit in-elegant. 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. (Rom.13:1–4).
-
In all walks of life you get sad stories. I'm with you in your sentiments for the illegal immigrants. Yet these men and women have broken American Law and your authorities are sworn to law and order. I cannot judge the motive of the Colombian President in sending his aircraft, but the Colombian government fought the drug industry from 1964 to 2017 - an industry that employed thousands of simple "poor" people who had to feed their families. But we have to have law and order, or else we have anarchy. God is big on law and order.

Please clarify with scripture. Were the people "taken by the flood (v.39 - "airo") NOT KILLED but carried away to a place of judgment? And now you say that those "taken" by the thief, okay, angels ("paralambano") are not killed but face a later judgment. Where do you get such an idea? But you say, in the first quote above, that they are "led of as a prisoner to be judged AS those in the day of Noah were. But they were not led anywhere. They were killed by drowning! What is this new version of Genesis 7. In a previous posting you warned our brother @Dennis1209 that he would choke on my exegesis. But is this version of yours not way off? 21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: 22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. 23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: (Gen.7:20–23) Is this your definition of "paralambano"?
-
"Taken as a prisoner ... " I thought the flood KILLED every man on earth. Why would he be taken by the thief? Is Christ coming for the evil?
-
No. The words of Jesus are in answer to the three questions in verse 3. From verse 1 to verse 31 our Lord deals with the Apostles' ministry. It starts in Jerusalem and ends with with Israel gathered from the four winds. The abrupt change to parables shows that He now addresses the Church. 1. When shall these things be? (v.3) When Israel's works (the leaves) are Lawful. When the moral standard of the world descends to that of Noah's time. When the Lord is ready to snatch away unexpectedly lie a thief. Who will He snatch away - something precious like a firstfruit or an overcomer. From where will He snatch this precious thing away? From a "Household" who is made of people who have Him as THEIR LORD. What makes the members of the Household precious? A faithful servant, five wise Virgins and again a servant who uses his talent. 2. What shall be the sign of the end of the age? (v.3) Ditto. 3. What shall the sign be of your coming? (v.3) You are the Church. You must live by faith. There will be no sign. Be ready! Be watchful! YOUR LORD comes as a thief. A thief comes only for the precious things. He comes suddenly and hidden from eyes. He comes when the Circadian Low sets in and men are drunk with sleep. The DELAY is the danger. Servants lose interest. Bury their Talents. Don't BUY oil etc. That, my sister, is the context. In verses 39 those "taken" in judgment is "airo" in the Greek. The same word for "sins TAKEN away" in John 1:29. But the thief does not come to steal criminals. He takes what is valuable. The word for taking a known companion is "Paralambano".
-
No my sister. It is you who said "paralambano" is to "aggressively take" and "led of as a prisoner". Here below are your words. I only pointed out what you inferred. Not nice for a mature, dignified Christian. But no hard feelings. God bless.

The gentlemen whose names you supplied have not done you any favors. A cursory study of the methods for killing off men is war, pestilence and earthquake. The survivors of the attack on Jerusalem are not killed off but must go up to Jerusalem annually to worship Emmanuel (Zech.14:16). The judgment of the sheep and the goats is for the LIVING after Jesus sets up His "Throne of Glory". The sheep and the goats BOTH are "ALL NATIONS" - not the Church. They are judged on how they treated the "least of Christ's brethren" during the Great Tribulation. They are ALL UNBELIEVERS. But I have a question. The one "TAKEN" in judgment (killed off) is suddenly taken on a journey. They have no chance. Why "THEREFORE" must they "WATCH" for THEIR LORD (v.42)? If the wicked are taken in an instant and "killed off", who are the enemies that Christ must subdue for 1,000 years (1st Cor.15:24-26)?
