The King James only crowd will probably disagree with you entirely as the King James is the only true translation that is "perfect" but anyway certainly you do illustrate how we must go back to original Hebrew and Greek etc when researching or studying something. As for Messianic Jews etc well they are .. Jews! and they dont do Gentile stuff . Those of you who call yourself Christian hate the whole idea of Christmas so much with the evil Satan claus , pagan trees and ceremonies, then why dont you convert and become a messianic Jew? then you dont have to bother with Christmas

The thing is, how many of us would see this and perceive the story as an attack on Christianity, if we read the books without being told before hand that the author is an atheist and apparently has written this to promote atheism ? Indeed in same way how many of us would spot the CHristian theme in Lion Witch and Wardrobe? After all in Lion Witch Wardrobe we see a huge array of Greek and other classical fictional and mythical beasts, what have these got in common with Christianity? they are still the basic staple fare of any fantasy book. I also wonder how the right wing Christians deal with Satan erm i mean Santa Claus putting in an appearance, when he gives presents to the children. I beleive that Christians being vocal and protesting about films is a waste of time and simply has the opposite effect of the objective of stopping people from seeing the film. Another point, how much money would you have to pay to have the words "Golden Compass" displayed for all to see on just about every forum and blog going on the internet? Any publicity is good publicity. A film maker or author must love it and sees extra dollar sings when Christian right starts jumping up and down ranting and raving how the author will be burning in hell and how thier creations must be burned and no one must watch the films or read the books or they will go to hell too. In fact most of the world simply looks on in bemusment and pays no attention, many people think "I wonder what the fuss is about" and then go to see the film and read the books out of curiosity when otherwise it would have passed them by. sure we should simply tell each other in a quiet way that such and such has a certain agenga or meaning, but to be so blatently pro active and vocal in protests is wrong. If Christians were in majority then yes people would listen as it would effect sales and trade , but Christians are only tiny in number and are on the whole ignored as bigots and foolish idiots.

Why do we have to pussy foot around people and act all timid and get paranoid that we are going to offed. As i said in my previous post the solution is simple. All you have to say is "Please do not say those things in front of me please as I dont like it". If the person takes offense then thats their problem. The fact the person is backslidden Christian or non Christian matters not. As for what what constitutes as swearing or cussing that again is a cultural thing. the list Axxman put up does contain a word that I find offensive and is considered mild taboo word. In fact Americans have a number of words that are considered ok to use but in UK it is something one would never dream of uttering, especially in company of children family and church.
-
Write a detailed account of what happened in a notebook , when anything else happens write this down too. If this starts becoming a regular thing then you can approach their boss direct and present the evidence, mention that if they don
-
It is quite simple. If you find it offensive ask her not to say those things around you.

Its only a book and film that is a work of fiction and fantasy, it may be having a pop at religion and maybe Christianity, but so what. There are countless books and films that all do the same. I am more concerned about the filth that is pumped into homes all over through the TV. Yes we should perhaps just go about quietly warning each other as to the authors bias and atheist message in the film, but getting paranoid and telling everyone we come across about how evil it is , is simply having the opposite effect. Hardly anyone in the USA is genuinely saved, in UK its 100 times worse, film industry do not care about loosing a few sales to a few Christians when they know the protesting will double the attendances as people who have a passing interest in films will be drawn in to see what the fuss is all about and something that those crazy Christians are protesting about must be good to watch! Protesting about a film simply increases the sales and gives the film more advertising and public awareness than the makers could achieve by spending millions and millions on advertising. Just look how many places all over Internet people are going on about this film, its all free advertising. Just let the world get on with being the world, we can not stop the decline in morality and breakdown of society as it is all prophesied and will get worse as the days to Christs return lessen. It is inevitable and can not be stopped. AS long as we do as GOd wants us and live our lives as Christ would have then that is fine, iF the world wants to reject Christ and God and just go about frolicking with Satan then let them.

Wow brother, I remember when you corrected me, (and honestly it was needed more than you know) for being "up in arms" about not being able to Bible to work. Your post Check it out, why should we make a fuss over an image that does not really depict Christ. You and I depict Christ more fully than the manger scene. Or some picture on a wall. We have Christ in us, we are being conformed to His likeness. I would rather "see" the Christ that is in my fellow members. Now that is a beautiful picture. Yes thank you for reminding me, I should have mentioned this point as well, however got cuaght up in the political correctness thing that is sweeping through this thread, however I totally agree that its not worth getting worked up about having the issue of a nativity in a buisness etc. however this is a little bit different from usual everyday things like having a bible at work, plenty of people like nativity scene even though they never been in a church thier whole life and never even give God a second thought. If someone owns a private company they are entitled to put up what they like, but they do run the risk of being prosecuted and alienate and offend staff and customers, where as a company or government department already has this no offending thing in place for a good reason, yes it may be politicall correct and evil, but as an employee you have to abide by it etc. Anyway it is ridiculous to argue amongst ourselves over it, we have to accept we are simply livining in a world that is not our final home and Satan uses every chance to attack Christians and God in whatever form. I proberbly just complicated things rather than cleared it up, but I hope you know what im trying to say its 0230 that is my excuse anyway
-
I don't think anyone has spotted the bigger and main picture. You seem to forget that we as Christians are literely at war with the world. The whole political correct thing and people complaining about Christian icons, (last easter our bakers had complaints from people that the hot cross buns had crosses on them and they should be removed as it was offensive to muslims, not being a Christian he obliged simply not to loose profit), this whole thing is simply Satan using those who are not saved to simply attack Christians and God. Have you ever thought how other religions seem to get away with having their statues etc on show? Well guess what, those are of Satan and the world and no one will really complain as they have not been programmed to or told to by Satan, as its not something to attack God over, where as Christian stuff is.. I hope you can now see things in a better perspective, rather then something being politically correct etc.

Why is it that Missionaries are always requesting prayer
AndrewA replied to grace222's topic in General Discussion
How do you know they are ignoring them? how many other people do they know like you? Have you thought they could get 100s of emails a day asking for prayer? you could be one of many people on a list they have that they pray for regulary, if they dont pray for you then do not hold it as a grudge nor let it come in between your friendship, this is how Satan tries to destroy the Body of Christ. All of our jobs are important to the Body of Christ, no you are not less important and many people will even look at your ministry in envy and think how privelliged you are to be serving in such a high profile way. However we all can not have the best jobs, we all can not be preachers or evangelists. I see the Body as a ship sailing upon the ocean. there is only one captian, a hand full of senior bridge officers and ending up with someone who's only function is to clean the deck. all these jobs are just as important in maintaining the running of the ship, if the deckhand did not bother cleaning teh decks accidents would happen which could have disasterous knock on effects or render a person unfit for duty. So it is within the body, so please do not feel you are of lesser importance and please do not think you are being deliberately ignored, wondering if one person is praying for you is not something you should be worried or annoyed over. If you need prayer then of course use worthy! a few seasoned Prayer Warriors can do wonders opposed to a few friends who may just utter a mention of you briefly in a prayer that is dealing with many people. Do not allow satan to come between you and your friend, and do not allow this issue to take hold as a bad seed. -
You get a wide range of people in chat room, many mean well but can give incorrect answers, be it through being spiritually dead, those who are more occupied by theology than on Christ and God, those who have been brought up learning false doctrine and theology, newbie Christians who mean well but try to get in too deep and dont fully understand everything, but think they do and so on If you know that somthing is being said by someone is wrong then speak up and try not to get into a legalistic theological debate that results in pages of verses being used . The Unbeleiver should only be taught the basic gospel, if they do have questions, about thigns, yes it is reasonable to discuss them, however be on your toes that many people who go off on lengths about things have no intention of getting to know Christianity or God , but are simply playing with Christians and wasting thier time. Pearls before swine

Law suit is not an option for Christians
AndrewA replied to arunangelo's topic in General Discussion
Again this is taking things out of context and applying instructions given to a group of people living in 1st century and wrongly applying them to our own lives. As with all scripture instructions to US are clear and few, If God wants to tell you something then certain passages will be made clear to you by Holy Spirit and the scripture will "speak" to you, in that case it is most definitely yours to deal with, but should not be applied to others. A number of these verses are not exactly dealing with law. James 2:13 for example is not talking about law courts and so on but dealing with Gods laws , 10 commandments etc, again read whole chapter to get into context. Certainly it is a good way to behave and I have certainly done all things as described in regards to wrongs that people have done against me, I have not said a word against them, done them any wrong nor taken revenge against them and I have then seen some very amazing chains of events that have seen the people suffer terribly with things that mirror the things they accused me of etc. Vengance is mine says the Lord. However these things did not require a court of law , even if i wished to go down such as route. I believe that as Christians we ARE entitled to take people to court for compensation etc. However we are to apply a few things before we go down that route. Can you settle out of court? Yes forgive the person for doing you wrong and damaging your property or whatever, give them chance to pay you back, but if they do not give you any money then that is time to get the law involved. At end of day each situation comes down to prayer. If God tells you specifically not to take someone to court then obey. -
Theres more to it than meets the eye, it was more to do with grudges or someone who did not like having a non Islamic school etc. I am going to name my lawn mower Mohammad is it mows down thousnands of blades of grass , just like mohammad mowed down thousands of Christians and Jews at his own hands.

The "does not apply" concept for the entire chapter is a very dangerous way to read the bible. If this is the case, when to disregard (if to disregard) becomes a real issue, and I am of the opinion when Jesus says anyone (whosoever), He means anyone. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. 40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. Matt 10:32-42 (KJV) The part i was referring to is where Christ sends the disciples out and gives the disciples their instructions to go out in to the world and become missionary, evangelists or whatever tag you want to call them, those instructions to go out and be preachers, missionary evangelist are only meant for the disciples and for those who read it and are promoted to act on it by God. I said nothing about the above passage and yes it is obvious that whosoever means anyone, whosoever is referring to 3rd parties anyway and are simply part of the instructions to the disciples.

There is certainly a lot of misunderstanding about what we as Christians should be doing when we are to serve Christ and how we go about. People tend to misunderstand how to read the Bible and as a result we have a number of misconceptions about

Need help with a computer problem
AndrewA replied to sheya joie's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
WIthout more info can not help too much, however at this point in time check the following. Is the monitor cable loose , somtimes it only needs to wiggle a little bit loose to loose part of the connection, just make sure cable is pushed in fully . Another possibility is that the monitors settings have been changed. just about every monitor comes with controls similar to any tv, you have physical buttons and knobs, depending on monitor type to change things like brightness and contrast, most also have a sperate colour value change, it is possible that this could be messed with. 3rd you may have had the software settings changed for your graphics card. I have NVidia drivers and control panel which allows me to ajust the colours gamma brightness contrast etc , you may see this if you go into Windows COntrol Panel -> DIsplay -> Settings -> Advanced It would help to know what you are using, your graphics card and Operating System such as XP or VIsta. in mean time simply try the above suggestions if these dont work then report back what you did and more info about your computer. I just see this thread has fallen into repetitive point scoring and pointing fingers, especailly as I have gone over these things about 3 times in this thread and all my points appear to have been ignored. Obviously this thread has run its course. Time to Close I think.
-
That is not suprising. Fashion industry is run by Satan as just about every designer is of the world and therefore belongs to Satan. Satan has no use for modest clothes.
-
I covered all these points in a previous post, obvsiouly there posts are just going around in ciricles. Repeating a point over and over isnt going to sway those who think otherwise. We have already covered just about every issues. I shall summerize First define modest. this is the main problem, however I consider a woman to be modestly dress if she wears a high neck line that will not or looks as though it will gape when she bends over. short skirts above the knee should not be worn. Tight clothing is not modest, not suggesting a baggy sack but certainly anything that draws attention to the females chest and waist below is not good. A women dressed this way should not be blamed for a mans sin or weakness if he decides to lust etc , but if a woman is showing most of her cleavage for example then yes she must share part of the blame if a man goes away with immoral thoughts about her. Church one should dress to at least the above, we should most definitely not put temptation in the way of the members of body of Christ, if man struggles with lust then it is not fair that a woman put her body on display for him to enjoy. Of course we do not know who has these problems so be on guard all time. Same goes for outside church in most public places, go to library, shops or whatever and dress modestly, you don't know if a Christian male struggling with lust is standing behind you or sitting opposite you. However places like the beach you can wear just about anything you like. A man who struggles with lust and immoral thoughts should never go within a mile a beach , if he does and happens to spot you then that is entirely his problem as you are simply one of hundreds of such dressed women on the beach. the US seem to hold nudity and female body as almost a taboo, its not surprising how some people react. In other cultures women spend all thier life going around topless and no one bats an eyelid. Men can quite happily sit amongst a group of naked women and not have an impure thought, where as someone who has a problem can lust over just about any women regardless of what they wear. If a Christian man puts himself in a position where he can ogle women then that is entirly his problem not the womens, however if a woman is attending church or church functions then she should dress modestly so as not to make that man stumble Remember we do not know who has these problems and so must be dressed accordingly at all times.
-
We like to complicate things. It is very straight forward, Satan hates God. Satan wants to take as many people away from believing in God as possible. Satan is not called the master of lies and deceit for nothing. Satan has many tricks, traps and weapons to use against not only Christians but the rest of the world. One such weapon is to fool people into believing things that are specifically against God and contradict the Bible etc. Belief in an afterlife other than the one described is one such lie. People see ghosts and really think that it is the soul of a dead person. If you believe this then you will be drawn into Satans embrace. Many people end up rejecting God because they want to believe a different nice version of the afterlife, they want to believe that their dearly departed is actually visiting them, or somehow able to stand watch over them, or that the soul has a choice not to go into heaven or hell etc. This in turn encourages people to go to mediums, hold s
-
Correct. One man could happily sit amongst several women who are naked and not have a single imoral or impure lustful thought enter his mind, especailly if he has his own wife who he only has eyes for present! Another man on other hand can see a nun or another see a woman dressed in a tent from head to foot but is showing her bare feet. the man has a foot fetish. These two men spend all day and weeks after fantasizing about what they have seen and lusting after those women . If you read my previous post you will see a few other ideas that i wont repeat here, however we do seem to be missing the man who has these problems out the equation. As with any sin or bad thought it is somthing a person can be healed from and they should be activly concious of not putting themslevs in situations where they will have lustful thoughts. A person who has a drink problem will not go anywhere near an establishment that sells alcohol, such as traveling 20 miles to get some bread instead of end of road as they know the shop 20 miles away does not sell alcohol. In the same way a man with lust problems should be stopping himself from looking at things on internet, avoiding places like the beach etc. However a man who has these problems should be allowed to attend any church activity or function without being exposed to these thoughts, this is where women must dress modesty. That Christian man may also be in the library, in the garage, in the shop you go to, anywhere at all, so again you must be dressed appropriately at all times. But beach is different story.
-
I see we are going around in circles. Remember this was about the beach, but certainly it is worth expanding to life in general. We all have our own ideas as to what
