    Why?

JB - No one is challenging God's sovereignty. I do not understand how you are reading this into Dave's words? He is asking, "Why?" inquisitively as a means of understanding the Lord and His ways better. Is it outside of your theology to better understand the Lord and His ways? Psalms 95:10 - For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, 'It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.' Your argument is with the Bible not with me and I do not appreciate your sarcasm. I give you Romans and Job to help, you can take it or leave it. Peace JB

    Why?

Rom 9:20 On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God ? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? 21 Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use ? 22 What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction ? 23 And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, 24 even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles. 25 As He says also in Hosea, "I WILL CALL THOSE WHO WERE NOT MY PEOPLE, 'MY PEOPLE,' AND HER WHO WAS NOT BELOVED, 'BELOVED.' " 26 "AND IT SHALL BE THAT IN THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS SAID TO THEM, 'YOU ARE NOT MY PEOPLE,' THERE THEY SHALL BE CALLED SONS OF THE LIVING GOD." JB
  5. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith ; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God ; Romans 12:6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith ; If faith is a gift from God I doubt it is flawed. There might be a bump in your faith but you will not lose it. John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. JB

  8. Leviticus 19:31 'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.' (NIV) Leviticus 20:27 "Men and women among you who act as mediums or psychics must be put to death by stoning. They are guilty of a capital offense." (NLT) Deuteronomy 18:10-13 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God. (NIV) 1 Chronicles 10:13-14 Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not inquire of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse. (NIV) 2 Chronicles 33:6 He [King Manasseh] sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger. (NIV)

  10. Paul's answer: Ro 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. Ro 5:13 for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law. JB http://inhisword.net

    What is Grace?

The FREE unmerited favor of God. God can do anything at His will Fez, your question ask what is the nature of God. Once His grace has brought you to belief on His promise is it His nature to with draw that promise? Is it God's nature to lie? JB

  20. Shalom Dave So let's look at the question and try not to read into it. The first of which is the topic of this post. If God chose not to save anyone would He be just in His dealings with man. God's choice was made before He made the first covenant with Christ, on this we both agree do we not? You say that If God had chosen not to Save anyone then He would also have chosen not to Create man to begin with. I ask for scripture and you give me this, Pr 8:23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth was. That only tells us Dave when God made this diction that we are now discussing. You claim to know God's alternatives in this diction can you explain why then God created Satan. Let me help you out. Romans 9:17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: "I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." God raised up the Pharaoh so that He could destroy him and I would summit to you that it is likely the is the same reason He created Satan, that is His sovereign right. The first of which is the topic of this post. If God chose not to save anyone would He be just in His dealings with man. The answer to this question is yes as God has demonstrated through out the bible. Every person that God has chosen to destroy He knew He was going to destroy them before their creation. Do you disagree with my analyses? If God did not want to use this sovereignty (the right to destroy His own creations) why did He put the tree of knowledge in the garden? IHS JB
  21. However, it is the revelation of Himself through His Son, that speaks of His very nature and it has everything to do with the question. Regardless, my point was that God wound this thing up and started it thus He has taken responsibility for it even though mans sin nature was not due to His fault. Peace, Dave Brother Dave may you be anointed by the wisdom of a thousand prophets. If God had chosen not to Save anyone then He would also have chosen not to Create man to begin with. Now we are talking about His Omniscience and not the Heresy of Universal Salvation. Regardless, my point was that God wound this thing up and started it thus He has taken responsibility for it even though mans sin nature was not due to His fault. Your logic is far beyond this humble mind of mine. I know not what the Potter would have chosen to do with His clay but it would help if you provided some scripture. If God has taken responsibility, who is that He is responsible to. I believe that God's plan is perfect and He did not make a mistake as you imply. IHS JB JB, No implication of a mistake at all. God knew man was going to fall. Scripture with regards to Gods taking responsibility for mans sin even though He had nothing to do with it; Ge

  23. If God chose not to save anyone would He be just in His dealings with man. If He saved everybody irregardless of whether they believed in Christ would He still be just. The answer to both is yes. To say other wise is to deny God's Sovereignty. JB Grace to you, God is Sovereign to state any less would be a total misunderstanding of His nature. That said, to state that the answer is yes is a misunderstanding of His nature. Justice was Served and meted out on Christ. God could not Save anyone outside of Christ, He simply saw no other way to Save you and there has been no other way since the fall. The Word is quite clear no one apart from Faith in Gods Word will be Saved. If the opposite were true then the Bloody Sacrifices offered by the thousands throughout the ages would not have had to be followed up by the Reality of the Faith they were expressing. It wasn't Faith in the sacrifice or the practice that Saved but Faith in the God whom promoted the sacrifice as a foreshadow of the Reality. It was and is literal Trust in His Word. That has more to do with His nature and Sovereignty than speculation about whether or not He can oppose His own Word. We then would do well to know Him because that is what Faith in His Word has wrought. Peace, Dave Hello Dave Shalom or Salaam Let's go back to the question asked Dave, If God chose not to save anyone would He be just in His dealings with man. If He saved everybody irregardless of whether they believed in Christ would He still be just. The question does not ask about the Fathers covenant with His Son. God would not break His covenant with man let alone with His own Son. Salvation is a free gift no man has a right to it, no man is owed salvation. Christ had no obligation to pay for my sins, it is not Him that owes me but me that owes Him. How could man claim injustice because God refuses to embrace man's sin? The injustice is by men who claim their works have made them righteous. If God chose not to save anyone He would have chosen to do so at the beginning of time and it would He be just in doing so. Peace be with you. JB http://biblediscussion.org/ By the way Larryt, they call it "Universal Salvation" it was discussed here http://biblediscussion.org/index.php?topic=527.0 It denies God's Sovereignty and the saving Blood of Christ.
