  1. Sounds to me like you are associating the people with the sins they are commiting... Love the sinner, hate the sin? That doesn't change the fact that they are still wicked. Using that logic, then we are all wicked by default, because we have all sinned.
  2. What type of advice are you looking for? It sounds like you don't have the greatest of friends, and I think it ironic that they call you the "bible basher" when it sounds like they are "bashing" you! Stick to your guns is my advice, and do what you feel is right. Out of curiosity, just how much Bible reading do you do?

  4. Yeah, there is no way this would EVER go through, it also sounds to me like it is an attempt to "make a point" as Forrest put it.
  5. Church should never be a fashion show; you are there to praise God, not be the prettiest girl at the dance. However you also shouldn't dress like a homeless person either. My rule of thumb would be to think about how you would normally dress going out anywhere in public, and then dress 1 notch above that.
  6. Nowhere did I say you shouldn't save yourself for marriage. I acknowledged its difficulty, but also acknowledged its beauty. I said at the very least (meaning the worst possible scenario), save yourself for a very special person if you can't make it to marriage. I still think that marriage is the best choice, but in this day and age it is harder and harder to come by someone who remains a virgin until marriage. That makes it that much more beautiful when someone does save themselves. I'm not contradicting Floatinaxe nor you, I'm just taking the situation and looking at it from another angle. Even if it isn't the exact same angle as you, it is pretty close. But I don't really want to fight about this, there is no reason to interrupt this nice thread.
  7. If I was really interested in growing up to work in politics, or wanted to understand more about the legislative process, I think this sounds like it would be a great opportunity! Just because one person did some bad things in the area doesn't mean everyone there would! Besides, Foley retired, and I'm sure they are watching for signs of corruption like that much more carefully now.
  8. You know, I was thinking "well, I know how gross and sweaty I feel with clothing on when I work out... maybe this isn't all bad?" and then I saw your quote! Yeah, this is a bad idea eeew
  9. The act of sexual intercourse is reserved for the marriage bed. How dare you counsel her to at least save herself for a special person! That is compromise and a gutless answer. Boy, nothing I say can win with you right now unless it is exactly what you say, can it?
  10. To be honest, I would be more concerned if you DIDN'T have sexual thoughts! They run rampant during youth, especially during puberty. However, there is a big difference between thinking about something and acting on something. Let's face it: no matter how hard you might try, you can't stop yourself from THINKING about certain things. But acting on those thoughts is completely in your control. Some would say save yourself for marriage, and I feel that is quite a noble goal, especially in this day and age. Personally I would make sure to at LEAST save yourself for a very special person, if not marriage. Make sure it is the right time for you before you throw your virginity away!
  11. nope, perfection isn't for human beings. Besides, in order to be "perfect", everyone would have to agree that you were perfect... and THAT is almost a more difficult task than being perfect in the first place!
  12. we aren't even close to being done with the settling things down in IRAQ, WHY are we going into ANOTHER country?!?!?!? I really hope it doesn't come to more war. Sometimes I don't understand our international policy at ALL >
  13. The larger something is, and the more things get involved, and the more vague things become, the easier it is to have things open to interpretation. The bible is a huge text, spanning a large amount of time, many different writing styles, and lots of different situations. To be honest, I would find it absolutly incredible if the bible WASN'T interpreted differently by different people. People can see what they want to see when they read things, one person might associate a specific wording to mean one thing, while another person would use that exact same wording to imply a completely different conclusion. There are many passages in the bible that are somewhat vague as to their meaning, which opens the door to even more interpretation. Take the American Constitution as a (albeit quite different) example. People interpret the constitution differently all the time! Does that mean one person is right and one is wrong? Maybe, but it might also mean that the constitution was MADE to be someone vague so that it could be incorporated differently based on what the people of the US think. I feel the same could be said of the bible.
  14. Chocolate = Great! Pizza = Great! Chocolate Pizza = Eeeewwwwww
  15. Muslims think the same thing about you, Hazard. Why haven't you accepted Allah yet? Are you some kind of evil human wreck? The only one who knows me better than even I know myself is God. A Christian, I would assume is a follower of Christ. I proclaim to be a Christian. If I am a human wreck, then God alone knows it. I, personally, do not go about killing people who refuse to accept the Christian way of life. Radical Muslism seem to be high on this. But, I also acknowledge this. As free moral agents, what others believe and do is their own business. I personally don't give a flying kahoona. Its not my job to convert anyone to Christianity. I am just expressing my opinion, and unless it is forbidden on this forum, I will continue to do so. Haz. Personally, I feel to base your opinions of Muslims off of the "radical Muslims" is unfair. There is a vast majority of Muslim people who are law-abiding, and generally well-wishing to other humans around them. They follow many of the same ethical guidlines Christians follow, with a few (more superficial) differences. To base an entire religion off of the radical minority would be just like comparing Christianity to the Crusades and corruption of the middle ages. I have no problem with you expressing your opinions, as long as I can express mine right back! Incidentally, from my humble viewpoint, converting others to Christianity, or at least attempting to show people the "way", IS in fact a "job" of many Christians.
  16. I disagree with this statement, although I must admit it is a very controversial topic. Just because something is keeping someone else alive doesn't mean that you aren't killing if you remove that object. If I cut someone's bungee-rope as they were bungee-jumping, I would be accused of murder. True, I didn't physically do anything to THEM, but I disabled an object who's function was to keep someone else alive. Same if I was scuba-diving and I turned off someone's oxygen tank. Sorry for bringing up morbid topics, but the truth is I really don't know if ending a parent's life prematurely would be considered a right or wrong thing to do, even if they were in pain and wanted me to.
  17. The way I see it, is if there is a cure to a common disease, why not use it? The fact the disease is sexually transmitted doesn't change the fact HPV is a fairly common disease that can be treated through vaccination. Yes, it does seem strange that the age for girls is 9 or 11, but better safe than sorry I suppose. If it lasts for so long (until 26 as someone said), all the better. It will be able to cover the major times in life young women will be sexually active, even if it provides coverage a few years early. And as has been said earlier, getting HPV doesn't mean you are being promiscuous, you could be married with someone who has it, etc. So I see no problem with it! Of course, it would make sense to me that people should be allowed to refuse the vaccine if they would like. Requirements seem a bit ridiculous.
