  1. The facts in evidence are that the sea level has risen and ground water levels have fallen. You are rejecting the facts without providing any rational justification for doing so. The OP attributes 1.26 centimeters of ocean level increase to the pumping of ground water. That's not enough to flood cities. However, the fact is, according to the OP, ocean levels have risen 17cm over the same period, which calls attention to your next unjustified assertion, that coastal cities are not being flooded. I'd bet that coastal cities have faced flooding that reflects a 17cm rise in ocean level. Stop fighting facts. Yes, there is a fact of sea levels rising, a few inches. Yes there is the fact of groundwater being depleted. What is in dispute is that they are related. Also you have said, With out providing evidence. You see we use groundwater, for cities and for farming. A lot of it if used in farming goes into the plants grown and evaporated back into the atmosphere, as for cities, people drink the water and use it for cooking cleaning etc, and the wast water goes to treatment plants where again a lot of it is lost to evaporation and recycled back on to farms etc. The fact is this, you can not correlate the amount of groundwater levels are dropping with the rate the oceans are rising directly, there is no proof or evidence of this. There is no way to measure or track exactly how much groundwater is making it to the ocean in any direct amount. The title of the orginal article should show the political bias of said report. "Groundwater greed driving sea level rises" This statement is not fact, nor did they show any corroborating evidence of such. They made assumptions based of of facts, this is akin to stating, John, who hates Edward is a murderer because Edward was killed in an act of murder. You see those are the only two facts you have, you can assume that just because John had a motive he is the killer. However with out providing further evidence you can not make this as a statement of fact.

  18. RENO, Nev. (AP) — A World War II-era fighter plane flown by a veteran Hollywood stunt pilot plunged Friday into the edge of the grandstands during a popular air race, killing three people, injuring more than 50 spectators and creating a horrific scene strewn with smoking debris. The plane, piloted by 74-year-old Jimmy Leeward, spiraled out of control without warning and appeared to disintegrate upon impact. Bloodied bodies were spread across the area as people tended to the victims and ambulances rushed to the scene. Authorities were investigating the cause, but an official with the event said there were indications that mechanical problems were to blame. Maureen Higgins of Alabama, who has been coming to the air races for 16 years, said the pilot was on his third lap when he lost control. She was sitting about 30 yards away from the crash and watched in horror as the man in front of her started bleeding after debris hit him in the head. "I saw body parts and gore like you wouldn't believe it. I'm talking an arm, a leg," Higgins said "The alive people were missing body parts. I am not kidding you. It was gore. Unbelievable gore." Among the dead was Leeward, of Ocala, Fla., a veteran airman and movie stunt pilot who named his P-51 Mustang fighter plane the "Galloping Ghost," according to Mike Houghton, president and CEO of Reno Air Races. Officials earlier said Leeward was 80. Renown Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Kathy Carter confirmed that two others died, but did not provide their identities. Stephanie Kruse, a spokeswoman for the Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority, told The Associated Press that emergency crews took a total of 56 injury victims to three hospitals. She said they also observed a number of people being transported by private vehicle, which they are not including in their count. Kruse said of the total 56, at the time of transport, 15 were considered in critical condition, 13 were serious condition with potentially life-threatening injuries and 28 were non-serious or non-life threatening. "This is a very large incident, probably one of the largest this community has seen in decades," Kruse told The Associated Press. "The community is pulling together to try to deal with the scope of it. The hospitals have certainly geared up and staffed up to deal with it." The P-51 Mustang, a class of fighter plane that can fly at speeds in excess of 500 mph, crashed into a box-seat area in front of the grandstand at about 4:30 p.m., race spokesman Mike Draper said. Houghton said Leeward appeared to have "lost control of the aircraft," though details on why that happened weren't immediately known. Houghton said at a news conference hours after the crash that there appeared to be a "problem with the aircraft that caused it to go out of control." He did not elaborate. He said the rest of the races have been canceled as the NTSB investigates. KRNV-TV weatherman Jeff Martinez, who was just outside the air race grounds at the time, said the plane veered to the right and then "it just augered straight into the ground." "You saw pieces and parts going everywhere," he said. "Everyone is in disbelief." Tim Linville, 48, of Reno, said the pilot appeared to lose partial control off the plane when he veered off course and flew over the bleachers near where Linville was standing with his two daughters. "I told the girls to run and the pilot pulled the plane straight up, but he couldn't do anything else with it," Linville told the AP. "That's when it nosedived right into the box seats." Linville said after the plane went straight up, it barrel rolled and inverted downward, crashing into an area where at least 20 people were sitting. "If he wouldn't have pulled up, he would have taken out the entire bleacher section," and hurt thousands of people, Linville said. Linville said the plane smashed into the ground and shattered like an enormous water balloon, sending shrapnel and debris into the crowd. "It was just flying everywhere," he said. Leeward, the owner of the Leeward Air Ranch Racing Team, was a well-known racing pilot. His website says he has flown more than 120 races and served as a stunt pilot for numerous movies, including "Amelia" and "Cloud Dancer." In an interview with the Ocala (Fla.) Star-Banner last year, he described how he has flown 250 types of planes and has a particular fondness for the P-51, which came into the war relatively late and was used as a long-range bomber escort over Europe. Among the famous pilots of the hot new fighter was WWII double ace Chuck Yeager. "They're more fun. More speed, more challenge. Speed, speed and more speed," Leeward said. Leeward talked about racing strategy in an interview Thursday with LiveAirShow TV while standing in front of his plane. "Right now I think we've calculated out, we're as fast as anybody in the field, or maybe even a little faster," he said. "But uh, to start with, we didn't really want to show our hand until about Saturday or Sunday. We've been playing poker since last Monday. And uh so, it's ready, we're ready to show a couple more cards, so we'll see on Friday what happens, and on Saturday we'll probably go ahead and play our third ace, and on Sunday we'll do our fourth ace." Houghton described Leeward as "a good friend." "Everybody knows him. It's a tight-knit family. He's been here for a long, long time," Houghton said. He also described Leeward as a "very qualified, very experienced pilot" and that he was in good medical condition. He also suggested Leeward would have made every effort to avoid casualties on the ground if he knew he was going to crash. "If it was in Jimmy's power, he would have done everything he possibly could," Houghton said. The National Championship Air Races draws thousands of people to Reno every year in September to watch various military and civilian planes race. They also have attracted scrutiny in the past over safety concerns, including four pilots killed in 2007 and 2008. It was such a concern that local school officials once considered whether they should not allow student field trips at the event. The competition is like a car race in the sky, with planes flying wingtip-to-wingtip as low as 50 feet off the sagebrush at speeds sometimes surpassing 500 mph. Pilots follow an oval path around pylons, with distances and speeds depending on the class of aircraft. The FAA and air race organizers spend months preparing for air races as they develop a plan involving pilot qualification, training and testing along with a layout for the course. The FAA inspects pilots' practice runs and brief pilots on the route maneuvers and emergency procedures. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., issued a statement saying he was "deeply saddened" about the crash. "My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives and with those who were wounded in this horrific tragedy," he said. "I am so grateful to our first responders for their swift action and will continue to monitor this situation as it develops." ---- Associated Press writers Cristina Silva and Oskar Garcia contributed. 19. I realized it would be good for me to post the baby steps to financial peace as set forth by Dave Ramsey, who I am basing this series off of. There are seven of them, and I'll deal with each one a step at a time, but here is the basic outline. Next entry, part two, Savings.
  20. If you want I can split it for you off to the General discussion. The new music forum, is for music videos.
  21. I think what we have here is an argument of semantics, and have gotten into a debate but lets look at Candice's original op. You see its that last part that is causing the whole issue. You see, I know Candice well enough to know she does just fine as an Evangelist. Her very op is about higher theology, and even how she left the first church where she first got saved in. She is not speaking here of the basic theology of who God is, who we are, who Jesus is, and why we need him. She was speaking of higher theology and stuff that can only really be understood and dealt with on this side of the fence, as an unbeliever can not fully fathom a lot of it. This higher Theology or study of God is not needed to reach people. Again all you need for a basic gospel message is to know Jesus and understanding what he did for you. If you have not, Try watching the video Here is a man of God who for years and years and years and was responsible for thousands of souls saved, and yet he never said more to them then. "Are you saved, and if you died tonight are going to heaven?" While handing them a Gospel tract. Yes any study of God can be labeled theology, and Andy you may correct me if I am wrong but I don't think she was asking about that. Now it comes down to this, is knowledge or the spirit more important? I would say both are important, both have there place but the most important thing is love. Now by Love I am speaking of 1 Cor 13 love, the Love of God. You see I have won theologacial debates and lost the person. I Have been blown out of the water as a teenager by the question of where did God come from. You see I have failed on both places. I have lead a person to Christ using the knowledge I have received by a life time of witnessing and training as a missionary. I have also lead people to Christ by simply blessing them with a tank of Gas when they were stranded, and being lead by the spirit, was able to lead him to Christ, and he already knew the basics, he had not yet made the leap. You see at both times it was the Love of the Lord that lead me. You see a good base of Apologetic theology is always helpful, but we all learn. Is one who just becomes a christian to wait until he goes off to seminary or bible college to start telling people of what the Lord has done? Is that not what a witness is but simply one that describes what he has seen the Lord do? What about youth, such as I was a young 13 or 14 year old boy when I was blown out of the water by an atheist that I attempted to witness to. Yes I have seen scripture pulled to prove both sides of the argument, lets use common sense. Yes, if your called to be an Evangelist, it is good and even to be studied up on the basics of Apologetic theology. Is there room for mistakes? There has to be, as I don't know a single perfect person who has a perfect theology outside of Christ. Remember, as it has been said before we do not save anyone, Jesus does, all we need to do is point to him, through our lives, our words and our deed. If you have not blown a witnessing opportunity, that means you are not witnessing. I would rather people try and fail, with the chance of planting a seed and learning, then not ever trying to lead someone to Christ. As for the office of Evangelist, if you are called, yes, equip yourself the best you can, but I would say study those things that pertain to witnessing first and foremost. Good sound answers to atheists, and evolution, Muslims, and Mormons, yes they all have things that need to be known to effectively debate and lead them to Jesus. But again, never forget, it is not us who does the saving, all we do is point the way. One last thought, I was always taught by all the Evangelists in my church, that there was one, most important thing when it came to evangelism. That was Prayer. Effective evangelism starts with prayer. Even spur of the moment times, like when that guy ran out of gas, my wife prayed while I talked, even a "Help give me wisdom" Lord as you start can be effective. Yes you do need to know God to make him known. Yes Missionary's train a lot to go on missions trip, but what ever level you are, be ready to tell people about Jesus.
