  1. My pastor preached this passage recently, according to him the passage should not be taken out of context. At that time Paul was preaching against the false Woman teachers in the Corinthians church,so the message is only intended for them. Some people may disagree with this.
  2. I posted the same question recently and the thread got locked
  3. Indeed, so. Our posts should always be with grace. But not at the expense of truth. Jesus did not say to the Pharisees "You brood of vipers" and "you whitewahsed tombs" with the intention of causing suffering and humiliation, but rather to alert them to the truth of their hypocrisy. It's a fine line and one that we can only tread under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus, Ruth Its a massive skill actually, to be able to "rebuke" someone and yet not cause them humiliation or provoke an angry response. probably takes years of experience Do you, in all honesty, (and I genuinely seek your honest response) think that we should set out to avoid an angry response when we speak the truth? The Pharisees weren't exactly hugging Jesus when He called them a brood of vipers. They were big-time angry! I'm not suggesting that we should seek to arouse anger by our words, but rather that if we speak truth and it arouses anger, then that goes with speaking truth. Let those who are angered give account of their anger rather than suggest it is wrong, per se, that they should have been provoked to anger. In Jesus, Ruth Hi Ruth, Couldnt have put it better myself, though I do think that we, as Christians, should at all costs at leasttry to avoid arousing anger. After all, we preach peace and not war. I think this was discussed in another thread, cant remember which one.

  5. Bingo! The urge to toss in that one little jab becomes too much to resist when we are posting in response to someone we feel has slighted us. Can we imagine Jesus behind a keyboard posting the same way? t. ...but what glory to suffer the slights just as Jesus did! I think it can be a very hallowed experience to learn how to take slights without feeling a need to rejoin. At the risk of sounding as though I am advocating self-flagellism (which I am not) there is something very glorious and liberating about suffering, (i.e. putting up with in silence, as a lamb to the slaughter) in just a very small way, the kind of taunts that our Lord Jesus suffered. In Jesus, Ruth Good point, sometimes we need to back of a little to prevent an unnecessary argument

  9. Then nothing would be God's "norm" after the fall of man
  10. I'm pretty sure there are pills now for this "burn" Paul was speaking of, given that it's 2007, the medicated generation. That is, if someone truely had a problem. There are diet pills and people find nothing wrong with taking these, why not antisexdrive pills? They take day-after pills(just in case), possibly killing a child, why not prevent the whole problem before it starts and take an antisexdrive pill? They do it for perverts who target children. Pharmaceutical companies won't put money into this type of research like they do birthcontrol pills because it would make too much sense for satan's cause not to do so. It's better not to marry, ever. I'm sorry if that sounds horrible but, hey, Paul agrees. Nah Paul never said marriage was bad or anything. Singleness may be an even higher calling, but marriage is God's norm.

  18. Blessings Melvin, Good that you would want to learn right from wrong. The Catholic Religion claims to have more books of the Bible that , also included is their right and necessity to pray to the Saints. Now I don't have a problem with recognizing or reverencing the Saints, as we should all want to immulate Saints as that is where we all aspire to be as well, but we all know that our God is a "selfish God" in that He wants us to always give thanks and praise to HIM only! With our small minds here on earth we would love to be able to give the Blessed Virgin Mary thanks and praise for the mere fact that she was the Mother of the Most High! But we also know from reading that the "Most High" is also God the Father! And I believe that God sent "a Son" on earth to give us someone "human" that we can relate with and to because even if we try to comprehend HIS spirit it is very difficult to put something "Objective" with the primise of a "spirit." But we all can relate to a "SON" of God being of Human Flesh as we are. So God only gives us what we can grasp and understand! Hope this helps. Blessings Cajunboy Well put thanks. But I'm sure its not a necessity to pray to the Saints?
