  1. Is she also tipped? If not, she should call state immediately. Well she been working there for about a month I think she received one tip... Most fast food restaurants I have seen are paying salaries above minimum wage because of a shortage of workers. I am surprised Taco Bell is paying a salary that low, and considering the fact they are a nationwide outfit, it would seem that they would know they would have to comply with federal law. Ya the reason my sister doesnt speak up is mainly because she worked at some other places which were really rude. And this taco bell is really kind to her so she's willing to lose 40 cents per hour. I think the the minimum wage here is 7.20 and she get paid 6.80. sorry I didn't see this one the first time. Minimum wage is $5.15 per hour.[u that's federal and they've talked about it but haven't changed it yet!
  2. Is she also tipped? If not, she should call state immediately. Well she been working there for about a month I think she received one tip... yeah, but for the most part people don't tip taco bell employees... she should call the state department of labor.... there are laws for a reason!
  3. I've been watching this on TV very closely... they're now saying at least 6 confirmed dead.... Father, please provide strength and encouragement for these families at this time..... AMEN
  4. What keeps me alive is pure faith. Faith that God will bring you through and use this experience in your life to glorify Him. It's hard. Trust me.... I UNDERSTAND more than you know. All I can say is pray. Pray it through... Don't stop praying until the results come. I'll be praying for you.
  5. Phillipians 2:12-13 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Each person has to find their own way to God through Christ. For your friend (and I feel the same way) it's avoiding the foul parts of the world. We are required to live in the world without being worldly! I try to avoid people with foul language, because it affects me personally.... Garbage in, garbage out! But I believe each person can be convicted differently without anyone else being convicted the same way. For example: I am a member of a VERY small church where I sing a special quite frequently. I had a very strong conviction that when I stood on the pulpit, I should remove my shoes. It sounds strange, but it's the way I felt. I prayed about it and discussed it with my pastor, and decided that I would remove my shoes when standing at the pulpit. A few months later, while doing my devotions, I read in Exodous where God told Moses to remove his shoes because he was standing on holy ground -- and then it all made sense to me! (Ex. 3:5) Does that mean everyone should remove their shoes? NO. Does that mean that I'm wrong in removing my shoes? NO. It simply means that I was personally convicted of that and therefore I obey.
  6. It kinda horrifies me that he got 2 charges dealing with his ID and public drunkenness, but nothing referring to how incredibly dangerous the stunt of his was!
  7. Right on! I have learned something from EVERY one of my bad memories... even if the lesson was just to protect myself better in the future. (ex: I learned 1st hand why women shouldn't walk alone after night.) Also, I wonder what the long-term effects would be.... I already would forget my head if it weren't attached, I really don't need memory problems!!!
  8. Romans 8:31-39 31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 5:8 8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Anyone teaching that God hates sinners and not their sin will never be able to reach the sinner in Christ's name. Homosexuality is NOT the unforgivable sin!
  9. I wouldn't go that far. It doesn't mention Christ at all. From what I've been taught, satan doesn't mind people believing in God as long as Jesus is out of the loop. I didn't say it was a Christian movie, I said it had a Christian theme.... and I was referring to Bruce Almighty... as I have not yet seen Evan Almighty. But even though it didn't mention Jesus and even though it had some areas that were questionable... the theme was that No Matter What, God is God and we have to let HIM be God and be in Control of our Lives! AND that, dear, is a very Christian theme! I like that somewhere in Hollywood, someone found this to be a message worth spreading!
  10. I remember when Bruce Almighty came out... the previews looked terrible and I didn't want to see it because I thought it would be sacrilege.... but when my niece made me sit down with her and watch it I REALLY loved it. Great story... great point! I love that Hollywood can still create a movie with a Christian theme! I truly home Evan Almighty does the same... I'm looking forward to seeing it!
  11. The fact of the matter is that Bush doesn't care. He's not up for re-election anyway, so if he can help out a buddy before he goes... then he will. Too bad we can't all be on his friends list... we could act as we please with no consequences. As for Libby being punished... a man with as much money as he has - this is an insignificant fine and the 2 years probation is like shaking your finger at a child saying .... "Don't do it again.. I'll be watching you". I think Libby's punishment is as effective as a parent grounding their child and letting them go to a party with their friends that night! But, then again, he's a friend of the president! So, he can do what he wants!
  12. Did you ask God for Salvation? If you did, then you will be saved. God knows that salvation is best for you, right? It is always in God's perfect will for a person to be saved, right? Nevertheless, you had to (or have to) ask! Keeping in communication with God keeps us focused on Him. If we're depending on Him for what we need and want, then we're on the right path! If you're not comfortable asking for specific luxuries or even asking for the healing of your mother -- then pray about that. Pray that God's Will will be done and ask for him to guide your prayer life. In Matthew 6 Jesus taught us how to pray. He asked that God's Will be done, but he also asked for God to provide "our daily bread" This is where we ask for what we need. I'm praying for you.
  13. I have one that my parents bought me when I was born. Th title of it is "The Childrens Bible" It has been in production since 1965, and is still being printed because I've seen it in Christian Book Stores as well as pamphlets for it in Dr's Offices and such. It is published by Godlen Press in New York and says "Western Publishing Comany, Inc. Racine, Wisconson" It is a story bible... It tells stories in order of the way they happen in the bible and as far as I can tell, they're all there! It's beautiful, it has maps and pictures and is just one of my most prized posessions! I've had this Bible for almost 30 years and cherish it very much! I remember my Dad reading it to me as a child...
  14. When I have those kind of days I get a friend to sit down and have study time with me. Usually we'll discuss what we're reading and by the time we're done I go home and start researching what we discussed in further detail. Another idea is to make notes in sunday school, church, etc... and when you're having one of those days, pull out your list and research those things you wanted to check into a litte more.
  15. I heard somewhere that they found her son hiding in the closet may possibly have been a rumor though.
