  1. @Michael37 I get a kick out of that word "cuppa." I first heard it from Marilyn C. I asked her "What IS that?" lol (She lives in Australia.) So now a question for you in New Zealand. What is a gingernut biscuit? Is it a sort of cookie? I like all things ginger Would it be similar to an American gingerbread or ginger snap? Does it have nuts in it? Sounds yummy and like a good choice to accompany a cup of tea.
  2. @Michael37 I really like this thread. It is relaxing and interesting to see how we all differ. It is fun sharing. Who knows? Maybe we will end up trying each other's ideas.
  3. I like Celestial Seasonings Lemon Zinger. Also, Sleepytime (which has a blend of Chamomile, spearmint, lemongrass, tilia flowers, blackberry leaves, orange blossoms, hawthorn and rosebuds.) For upset tummy, Mom always recommended peppermint tea. Traditional Medicinals has a good one I enjoy.
  4. @naominash You already are edifying the body of Christ, including me! When I see the wonderful work God is doing in your heart and life, I rejoice. It is so encouraging! I have been praying for you a long time. To see you and your husband together in Him is such a blessing.Praise the Lord!
  5. For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
  6. @sugarbear Awww. I love you, too. What a sweet poem you have written for me! It means so much. I feel the same about you. Our friendship is one of my most favorite things that has happened to me in my years here at Worthy. The Lord is so good!
  7. 1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee. Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To the cross where Thou hast died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To Thy precious, bleeding side. 2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, By the pow’r of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, And my will be lost in Thine. 3 O the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend! 4 There are depths of love that I yet may know Ere Thee face to face I see; There are heights of joy that I yet may reach Ere I rest in peace with Thee.
  8. @Amanda Frances I love this hymn! It brings back special memories. It takes me back to when I was just a girl. My parents took me and my brother to church every Sunday. (It was a little bitty one. ) In our church hymnal there were quite a few by Fanny Crosby. She became a favorite writer of mine. Her poems resonated with me. She wrote the lyrics to a huge amount of songs. In 1877, she met William J. Kirkpatrick, a well known composer of gospel song tunes. She collaborated on many hymns with him. She wrote the words while he wrote the music.
  9. "When the sun goes down, he will be clean, and after that he may eat the sacred offerings, for they are his food. He must not eat anything found dead or torn by wild animals, and so become unclean through it. I am the LORD." (Leviticus 22:7-8)
  10. @nzkev Excellent verses! I love it! Thanks. And then it goes straight into the three scriptures that were my first ever 'life verses' that I memorized years back. (Ephesians 2:8-10) "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." This explains that the gospel (good news) is that Jesus paid it all... Why? Because I couldn't (and NONE of us could.) The great news is that salvation is a gift...which means it is impossible to earn. Any 'works' (fruit) that result in a Christian's life come after they are born again. And they are not contrived or forced by our efforts. Instead, they flow freely as a result of the love in our hearts for our wonderful Savior. It comes naturally to want to please Him. After all, look what He did for us on Calvary. The works themselves must be attributed to the Lord and go to His credit (not ours.) Philippians 2:13 says, "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." So ALL the glory goes to Christ alone. Both for salvation and the sanctification that follows... Phil 4:13 says, "I can do all things THROUGH Christ who strengthens me." So again, the praise goes to Him alone! I don't even see at as 'work' to serve God. It is pleasure. Reading the Bible daily doesn't do anything for God. Instead, it is there for our own benefit because it is our spiritual food (we enjoy it! )and it strengthens (nourishes) us. It also guides us. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (psalm 119:105) "Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16) Righteousness (salvation) is transferred to us through Jesus Christ's perfection and perfect sacrifice. The Lamb of God without spot or blemish. Hallelujah! "Knowing you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot." (1 Peter 1:18-19) His righteousness transferred (imputed) to us!! A sacred trade-off that is wonderfully mind boggling. Thank You, Jesus!! I'm forever grateful that Jesus Saves!
  11. "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession." (Hebrews 4:14) "God presented Him as an atoning sacrifice through faith in His blood, in order to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance He had passed over the sins committed beforehand." (Romans 3:25) "And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:4) "Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us." (Romans 8:34) Hallelujah!! Anybody got any scriptures that go along with these?
  12. I am starting this thread to proclaim joyfully to all who read it: Jesus Saves! I ask that we confine this thread to that glorious truth only. (No talk of OSAS or OSNAS.) This is to honor Jesus Christ and not compare/dispute doctrines. Scriptures and testimonies about salvation are welcomed and appreciated. GBU.
  13. An excellent passage of scripture I memorized years ago about Salvation and would recommend to all to memorize: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:8-10)
  14. @Dennis1209 Yep. I remember being taught this years ago about the protective canopy shielding earth from the dangerous radiation. Your theory about shorter life spans could be related. Btw, thanks for continuing posting the Bible trivia questions. Sorry that I keep on not discovering them in time. Keep in mind...I'm only a poky little turtle. I can't keep up with that speedy 'go, go, go Beau' @BeauJangles LOL Just kidding, brother.
  15. @marvelloustime Good article. Isn't it wonderful how God gives us what we don't deserve? Protection is one of many such things.
  16. @Amanda Frances You are welcome, dear sister. You have been such a source of encouragement in my life.
  17. @Rebecca Pickles We feel the same way about you, Becky and you'll be in our prayers, too.
