here is where we don't want modern cultural usage of the word to affect us too much. look at this definition of violent and rethink the word a little bit. Definitions of violent on the Web: * acting with or marked by or resulting from great force or energy or emotional intensity now read this scripture: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. that's ephesians 6:10. the entire passage thru verse 18 implies energy and intensity.

'made by man's sinful nature' doesn't work. that's not the way it originally was. all God created was 'very good'. a sinful nature wouldn't be classified as good. all creation is corrupted. i think it's more accurate to say we inherited corruption, born into a corrupted world.

Jesus Christ is Israel., see this according to justin martyr: Justin Martyr on "the true spiritual Israel" [6] Jesus Christ ... is the new law, and the new covenant, and the expectation of those who out of every people wait for the good things of God. For the true spiritual Israel, and the descendants of Judah, Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham (who in uncircumcision was approved of and blessed by God on account of his faith, and called the father of many nations), are we who have been led to God through this crucified Christ. [6. Circa AD 160] English translation from the Dialogue with Trypho xi, in The Ante-Nicene Fathers of the Christian Church, eds. Alexander Roberts and James Donaldson, vol. 1 (Eerdmans, repr. 1987), p. 200. Isa. 4:2

pope calls for world political authority from the article: Benedict said "there is an urgent need of a true world political authority" whose task would be "to manage the global economy; to revive economies hit by the crisis; to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis and the greater imbalances that would result." Such an authority would have to be "regulated by law" and "would need to be universally recognized and to be vested with the effective power to ensure security for all, regard for justice, and respect for rights." Maybe it shouldn't matter, but i can't seem to give up a 'national identity' even though i know that i am just a pilgrim passing through. how should we really view patriotism?

Your forefathers killed thousands of native Americans (who they regarded as animals) and 'owned' humans as their personal slaves while fighting for THEIR freedom. They certainly weren't concerned too much with the freedom of EVERY human. In the midst of this hypocrisy they had some good ideas and a 150 years after they died their ideas were shared with people that weren't necessarily 'white' or men. Inspite of it all...they believed in securing THEIR freedom on the back of the LAW. When you break the law, you undermine the freedom YOUR fore-fathers died to give YOU. i'm not for breaking the law, but in the republic of the united states of america, all laws must comply with the u.s. constitution - and it is the people's job to make sure the lawmakers do this. of the people, by the people, for the people. we are in a unique position here so can't be compared with the way other countries work. it is the people's responsibility to make sure our freedoms are preserved. -
there is a force at work in the world that just never stops bombarding us with empty promises of everlasting happiness if we will only keep killing ourselves trying to get money and beauty and fame. no one has time to stop and see that the rich, the beautiful and the famous still aren't fulfilled without God.

America's Lost Freedom and the 'Obama Deception'

you're raising a lot of questions, particularly with that last statement? are you referring to God's words at the tower of babel. He did say "nothing will be impossible for them". also: do you hold to the possibility that, since we were given 'knowledge' at the garden of eden, we are supposed to learn all there is to know about the universe we live in? i ask because i've thought about this also. -
America's Lost Freedom and the 'Obama Deception'

i watched this entire video some time back. promise to get out of iraq? not happening. the transparency issue on legislation so that everyone can see them on the internet before they get passed? didn't happen. even congress doesn't have time to read the bills. the fema camp thing? i can't see it happening. there was a thing about lots of extra coffins being readied in several national cemeteries - i don't remember if that was in the movie or not, but if a lot of deaths were expected, wouldn't it make more sense to use cremation? so i don't think that makes sense. the national service issue was raised while obama was campaigning. i don't like it, but it's gonna happen. bush had a similar idea that he brought up in a state of the union address in either 2006 or 2007. so i guess the bottom line, according to what my research shows so far, is that some of it is true and some is just speculation. -
The view that the universe is old relies on things actually being what they look like - so light from distant stars, as an example, doesn't just look like it took hundreds of thousands or even millions of years to travel the distance between a star and our eyeballs but actually did take that much time to travel that far. So. . .unless god is trying to trick us and created a false history things actually are what they are. This concept can be applied equally to the age of the earth. why would you presume that light has always traveled at the same speed?

WN: Self-serving Republicans gave Democrats cap and trade victory - W
Fraught replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in U.S. News
they were looking out for their home states. i don't like this cap and trade, but at least that was right up front before election time. whoever voted for obama voted for cap and trade. with that being the case, why wouldn't the congress pass that? -
you've answered your own question. here's your quote "Maybe it's because I never got into a truly good bible based church. Maybe it's because I've never truly been around a good group of Christians. Or maybe it's my complete lack of knowledge when it comes to the bible, and the story of Jesus and everything that happened." i've just read your words, so i know you're literate, a good writer, actually. so as the the last maybe you stated, what is your excuse? why do you not know the bible or the story of Jesus? We're supposed to be ready to defend our faith but you're not ready to defend it even to yourself. i think you'd better get busy.

A spiral galaxy consists of a spiraling disc of dust, gas, and stars orbiting a central "bulge" with a much denser concentration of dust, gas, and stars. Galaxies are pretty much just clumped up groups of stuff and as more stuff clumps together it generates more gravity pulling more and more stuff in towards itself. The center of the a spiral galaxy contains a huge amount of material and, in some cases, possibly even a really big black hole. The gravity generated by all this mass "pulls" on the surrounding matter making it spin. Think of it as a glorified solar system. The AIG article you're quoting from is citing Russel Humphreys very problematic assertion that "Stars closer to the center of a spiral galaxy orbit the galaxy faster than stars farther away. Over many millions of years, the difference in orbital rates should wind the spiral tighter and tighter. We do not see any evidence for this in galaxies of different ages.

i wasn't going to post after all the good answers you already got but i'll just add one very important thing. Expect to mess up, we all do but remember that "to those who love the Lord, all things work together for good" AND remember that not later, not next year, not when you're good enough but RIGHT NOW, you have the Mind of Christ. He lives in you to will and to work for His good pleasure. Amazing, huh?

it sounds to me like what you really have here is a trust issue. you do not completely believe that this is why she has given up intimacy. i think what you need first is a long talk with her to get to the real issue. if it turns out that the real issue is her new found faith in God, and you are still in love with each other, that can surely survive lack of intimacy for a temporary time and you would need to respect that.

hey, that's where i got the statements !!! under a heading, fast facts. i guess it didn't pan out here the way i thought it would. i was hoping some evolutionists would jump on and tell me why it wasn't true. well, better luck next time Ah, sorry. I did read your post, but decided not to argue the case. I am not familiar with physics, you see. I would say that any argument making the claim that the universe is very young, is very flawed. I don't think you will find many astronomers backing statements from AnswersInGenesis. My first criticism of the argument is that its raison d

it's only a "lose" for us when they are released alive. These murderers should be the ones who lose/lose their freedom or their life. dear american patriot, i understand how you could feel this way. it's a hard thing. however, as we grieve for the loss of our american liberties, we can't lose sight that these guys are being held without fair trial, that they are innocent until proven guilty and however bad it could be to let them go, it's worse to hold them. the right to liberty is at stake.

These three threw me off. Anyone have an explanation? for number 2: how do you expect to exercise discernment if you don't make a judgment call? yes, he says to look at the beam in your eye before you look at the splinter in another's eye. that's right, tend to your beam first but don't neglect to tend to your brother either. scripture gives explicit instruction on how to exercise judgment over our spiritual siblings. that's a light answer. for #3, everything happens for a reason to those who love the Lord, not to everyone. non-believers are ruled by chaos. as for a blueprint? well, it's too simplistic. which one of us can just get up every day and and know exactly what we're supposed to do? i don't know anyone. all we can do is face the moments as they come. if God had a blueprint, don't you think He would give it to you?

How do you know that? Why would the magnetic fields of planets and moons weaken over time? hey, i'm the one asking the question here. i guess you'll have to be patient and wait with me for the answer.
-
Spiral galaxies rotate much too quickly for an old universe. They would be twisted beyond recognition if they were really as old as secular astronomers claim. how about this one? The magnetic fields of planets and moons in our solar system are consistent with their age of a few thousand years, but are much too strong for an age of billions of years.

ok. i hadn't heard of CWB - clear word bible, i find it's called. i will check that out. i want to thank all of you here who have pointed out things i didn't know and directions to go in to find out other things. all your valuable input is appreciated.
