An epiphany that came to me this morning while walking my dog: Of course there was no rain in the beginning. (probably i'm the last person to realize this but okay, i still haven't seen it on this forum) the waters were separated, right? so there must have been just the right amount top and bottom. using common sense, this would have lasted for some time. evaporation and condensation continue for awhile until enough extra water vapor has built up and tada - rain!

i see the headline became 'obamaworld' instead of 'obamanation'. interesting. i like the logic angle. the difference in what this administration says and what it does makes my head spin trying to keep it straigtht.

you don't need a scripture. anyone who knows God even a little bit should know He would absolutely abhor this. you can try isaiah 11: 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

nope. i don't even know any. weird, huh? i stumbled across a couple of bible study videos that just got me to thinking seriously about this. (btw, i don't have an answer to my e-mails yet though). also, in response to what you said about the eternal hell/eternal soul aspect, i don't see that the bible makes that very clear at all. i'll check out some other posts on this site to get a better start on it. i don't want to drag this post on and on.

hey, i've sent a couple of e-mails with questions of my own and some i got from you all so i'll be checking out what they say. in all seriousness, tho, we have all got to have a support network of real live people around us that aren't playing around. i guess that's what i'm mainly looking for and just haven't found yet where i'm at. btw, no one has mentioned yet 2 of their beliefs which i figured would leap out right away. one is that we are not born with an immortal soul which leads to the other that there is no eternal hell. i would say those are two that are are very controversial, much more so than anything ellen white could have to say. i'm not so sure you're right about Jesus having been michael - the teaching i heard named Him as the Son of God. but that i will find out about asap.

i didn't say the only one. but the watching seems to be left out of a lot of other denominations. Why do you feel the need to belong to a denomination in order to watch? well, you've got a point there ! LOL maybe i'll just start my own internet church of fraught just kidding.

your replies have been great. i will definitely have to check out the abortion thing. i'm pretty radical on that issue. also regarding the foods, as far as i can tell, that's an advisement for good health, but maybe not a requirement, i'll see. one thing i see that there are misunderstandings about is the post about '2nd phase of atonement'. it's a little different than that. yes, Jesus' atonement is finished but now He is busy in the Holy of Holies being our high priest and preparing to come back as Judge, which is biblical. i guess i'm tired of what i think of as motivational seminar sermons. i can listen to tony robbins or dwayne dyer if i want to hear more about how to make the most of my life or how to be happier. i just think we're supposed to be watching for Jesus' return and that's pretty much the most important thing in a christians life whether it's today or 100 years from now. Jesus commanded us to watch and that seems to be the main job of the 7DA.

Perhaps i'll be kicked off this forum, but i am truly considering converting to a seventh day adventist church. It will not be an impulsive choice. Here is what has happened: I have been praying for wisdom and insight for some time. Certain traditional preachings i haven't been able to accept after many many sermons preached in their favor. Other things i do believe as truth, i can't hear a sermon on no matter what preacher i try to listen to. I finally heard this weekend some adventist sermons. I don't know everything about them yet, but i am taking it under serious consideration and would ask for prayer and godly counsel in this matter.

I don't really know of any regular Christian that is opposed to scientific inquiry pertaining to how the world works. Most Christians are not opposed to science per se. We use science every day when we make our food, brush our teeth or drive our car. An opposition to the Evolutionary model is not an opposition to science or the scientific method or any of the science disciplines. What most of us oppose is being told that the Bible cannot be taken seriously as a genuine, historical account of the origin of man, and that we must adopt a theory that is predicated on the absence of a personal Creator. If we don't accept the evolutionary model, we are cast as anti-Science and I don't think that is fair. I realize that you are not saying that, but a lot of those who support the evolutionary model do. Shiloh, can i use one of your above statements? It is perfect for something i need right now. An opposition to the Evolutionary model is not an opposition to science or the scientific method or any of the science disciplines. great way to put it!

Absolutely right. I see this in others and i see it in myself. if evolution is correct, earth is a random accident and so am i. my life now has one eye on eternity. if i believed that i am here by random accident, i would have both eyes on the here and now, because that's all there is.

Christians risk rejection and discrimination (UK)
Fraught replied to nebula's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
in ways, it is already here. you know that you are ridiculed by the scientific and academic community for your beliefs. my own son, who always esteemed me for my intelligence, doesn't see how i can possibly believe in Jesus Christ, or even the Creator God described in the bible. it is a painful truth to accept. -
i can't agree that it is a distraction since it is the very thing that keeps many people that i know from believing in God. this is not abstract thought. these are real living people who are unsure, because of darwinian evolution, that God actually exists. if a person doubts the very existence of God, it is impossible to even get to Jesus Christ.

Hello Fraught, sign of the end of the age----the meaning of the word "age" means "world." As far as preaching the word in all nations, and then the end will come. Well since the ressurrection of Christ there has not been a generation yet that has been able to do it. And I do not believe they will be a generation that will do so. I get this belief of mine from the book of Revelation that fits right in with what you are seeking I might add a few extra verses that will show you what the angels are doing at the end of the age. Revelation 14:6,7---And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth and to every nation and kindred and tongue and people vs.7--Saying with a loud voice Fear God and give glory to him for the hour of his judgment is come and worship him that made heaven and earth and the sea and the fountains Read Matthew 24:31,32 Revelation 1:7 In the two verses above it plainly tells us that this one angel will fly in the air having the everlasting gospel to preach to all that are living on the earth every nation, kindred, tongue and people. Now you can see that this one angel has a message to proclaim, preaching the everlasting gospel and when this angel has done this to all that are living all over the world that then the gospel will be fulfilled in the verses that people are right now believing that man will be the one who will do this whenever it comes time but it will not be saints who brings this to past but an angel of the Lord and when the angel gets finished then shall the end come. this is not too say that we shouldn't stop evangelizing because we should and have been sent forth to preach the gospel and teach the word making disciples of them. But there is nothing we can do to make the coming of the Lord take place. For it will be done supernaturally as this angel will usher it in. Well I hope I have helped and have not been confusing. blessings OC yeah. i wasn't aware of that part and i'll look at it tomorrow. what i really want here is to know & not to speculate. if it hasn't been preached to all the nations, which nations exactly do not know of Jesus Christ? Surely, in this time, knowing all the nations, we should know which ones. Can you help with that question?

but why? it just doesn't make sense to me that God would just plant some primordial ooze and add in some noxious gases , whirl things around violently and wait to see what happened. what's the point. the only possible way old earth theory works if there is a gap between gen 1 and 2, the gap theory, i guess it's called. even then, nothing was alive on the earth so it explains only sedimentary layers. there is no way to get around the fact that death did not exist until the fall. therefore, animals and people at the same time. i don't see how that can be questioned at all. if we could admit there are things we don't know yet, this would solve a lot.
-
I hope you are right. I know i'm sure trying to make sure my lamp is full of oil. I agree with you about every single person but i would think that it has gone into every nation by now. 'And then the end will come'.

Jesus finished up a lecture with "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." A question we should all know the answer to, and i don't. Has the gospel of the kingdom been preached to the whole world as a testimony?

my understanding was that countries in the western hemisphere have been typically christian. i.e. beginning with the roman church in europe, then protestantism and then spreading to new lands west of there. the eastern hemisphere being primarily know for hinduism, islam, various pantheistic religions, etc.

What a great and timely question! I really want to add a small piece of the answer. I say timely because I just heard this answer over this past week-end. i was reminded that we are called to be a witness, to tell people about Jesus, that He will reconcile us to God. we are not called to convince. i think it's easy to miss the trees for the forest. there are a lot of questions that people have and it would take years to learn all the answers. so don't worry about that. you tell the good news and let God do the rest. if the person you witnessed to is still sincerely seeking, God will put the next right person in their path.

matter is defined by its limit now. natural laws have been put in place that define physical reality as we know it insofar as our historical knowledge extends. however, it may not have always been so. could 2 generations past have imagined this question?: is there a way to make an object more solid? no, but we can. it makes me wonder what questions we cannot yet imagine. (edited because i'm not always clear-spoken. as to solidity, i am referring to the relatively new knowledge that the majority of a solid object is really empty space, as far as we can see)

i haven't yet done this but i have a great belief in being prepared so perhaps i'd better do the same LOL -
the fuss is about this statement in the original post: "the Bible is very clear about GOD being of a male persuation and HIS personification was also in the same male image". The Bible is actually very clear that God is a spirit. Also God has addressed "O Daughters of Jerusalem". Was He speaking only to the women. Obviously, these are figures of speech. Or, perhaps the Bride of Christ will be only women.
