Which day is the Sabbath and is it still valid today?
faith pleases God replied to tff's topic in General Discussion
under the new covenant, we are committed to the commandments of Jesus, not Moses. We are not bound by the ten commandments any longer..... Edited to add that if we live by his commandments of Love, not only will we not break 9 of the ten, we will not even want to.... As for the Sabbath, We are in his rest and that's all the time. As for taking a day off, yes that is a good idea for our mental health, but it isn't a commandment to follow under this covenant. At least that's the way i see the subject. That is true. But I still do not take His name in vain, have other idols, murder, steal, commit adultery, etc... the law is good still...right? If you love God with all your heart mind and soul, you would never even want to do that...... if you love your neighbor as yourself how could you do any of those things to them.... Read the last half of Matthew chapter 25, and tell me which if any the ten commandments did those people going to hell break. You can keep the ten commandments all the days of your life and never break a single one and still go to hell. The laws given to Moses taught people to fear God and do his commandments...... Jesus's laws of love teach us to do those things out of love not fear, and to want to do them not just out of fear. The law of Moses says one must be killed for not keeping it holy. I do not believe we are to be under the law but it has benefit still and has practical benefits. -

I truly just want to know God and think there may significance in keeping this day holy. I own my own business and can work everyday. I intentionally rest and set apart Saturdays for the Lord and draw great refreshing and strength from it. I don't have proof and am not quite sure but God is very deep and miraculous in His creation...there may be a deeper significance unrealized and know about our chemistry or universe and resting on that day. -

BTW-I do not think this is a salvation issue or has anything to do with that. -

I also believe in worship everyday. By all means!! I do not think we are bound by the law. Is it not one of the 10 commandments. Do we keep 9 of them and disregard this one? Not keep this day holy? -

None of my Christian friends go to church on Sunday as the Sabbath.... Going to church is not a rest, it is a lot of work for a lot of people. We go there to worship and eat and have fun and enjoy each other's company praising the Lord..... but a day of rest...... not even close. You're right. But isn't the Sabbath day a day set aside unto the Lord to worship, fellowship, and learn. Kind of how Sundays are used. They went to the synagogues on the Sabbath right? -
Mark 16:16 says, "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." Whether one can be saved without baptism... we are certainly supposed to be baptized.
-
The assistant pastor said it is okay for a believer to baptize a believer and there was no requirement to baptize or be baptized as long as it was understood.
-
They understand sin and repentance. They want to be baptized. They have given a declaration of faith in Christ. They believe they are to follow Christ with all of their hearts and can articulate this with sincerity.
-
I believe we should be baptized! Acts 2:38 says, "and Peter said unto them, `Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" Matthew 28:19, 20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit Mark 16:16 “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; Acts 8:35-38 “Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.” Acts 16:31, 33 “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.”

The Sabbath day is from friday evening to saturday evening. But Jesus is the true Sabbath. When I got saved, I entered into His rest. I don't need the sabbath day when I have Jesus. So you also agree that the Sabbath is from Friday evening to Saturday evening. I do not understand how you can say Jesus is the true Sabbath. The Sabbath is God's rest. How can Jesus be God's rest? Jesus is God's son. If we need to rest on the Sabbath like God, then we should rest on the Saturday, right? what you don't seem to understand is that the Sabbath is a picture or foreshadowing of Jesus as our rest. We rest in Christ for salvation, we rest in Him for all that we need. Jesus is the epitome of God's rest. He is what the Sabbath day was pointing to. When we enter into Jesus, we are entering the rest God has provided for our hearts. First of all, you did not answer my questions but you tell me that I don't seem to understand. I would like answers to my questions Please. Maybe I will understand after you have answered my questions. I understand somewhat. To keep the Sabbath day holy is one of the 10 commandments. It is certainly friday evening to saturday evening. I believe we are under grace but know the law is good. I want to understand God more and there may be something special if you keep it and honor God with it. Keeping it on any day we decide doesn't really make sense to me because God said to keep that day holy, and it was on the 7th day he rested, not one we choose to decide. I haven't found that in scripture to decide our own sabbath. This scripture is true but it is also true that what ever you do you should do by faith and not be doubleminded. That being said, I am free under grace but see the importance in a sabbath. Col. 2:16 Let no man judge you in food or drink, or regarding a festaval or a new moon or sabbaths, -
I have a 8 year old and a 6 year old they both want to be baptized. Should I baptize them?

How to pray for Jerusalem and for everlasting peace.

I stand in continual prayer for the peace of Jerusalem with all of you! Amen! -
Even though his name is Barack Hussein and has a Muslim name it is interesting on how so many would deny this. Some even believe he is a Christian because they heard him say it. I've once heard it said that, " Your actions speak so loud, I can't hear what you are saying." I have thought for a long time he is a mole that has infiltrated us and he is certainly paving the way for Muslims to infiltrate and setup. Isn't it amazing? Why would we ever elect someone with a Muslim name right after 9/11? He has appointed a Muslim as a Homeland security adviser! As this guy pointed out if there is a moderate Muslim that only means he isn't a true one.

Matthew 6:19-21 says,"19 `Treasure not up to yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust disfigure, and where thieves break through and steal, 20 but treasure up to yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth disfigure, and where thieves do not break through nor steal, 21 for where your treasure is, there will be also your heart."

Joel Osteen. False Prophet?
faith pleases God replied to ChristServantSean's topic in General Discussion
I agree. If those who hear of things through Joel and truly seek and draw near to God then they will find Him and He will draw near to them. The Church is us and the Holy Spirit will do His work in a person. At least Joel can plant seeds. Although it is the stagnant and lukewarm that I am concerned about. The ones that believe they can live a life of lasciviousness and compromise that need to hear the elementary teachings of spiritual milk of living a life of repentance and not continuing in sin that I'm concerned for. The ones whose minds are carnal and set on the things of this Earth and not on things above. He seems to tickle these ears and his message lacks; and may give some false confidence that they are just fine. A message of grace incomplete without repentance is by all means dangerous and a heresy. This life is not merely about prosperity and just being happy and better. This life is about mourning over our sin, taking up our cross and dying to ourselves. Knowing we are naked, poor, wretched, and blind. We are to live by faith not by sight. He preaches this but for prosperity, well-being, betterness and happierness sake. However us who walk by faith in repentance and truth understand the mysteries of God. And we are filled by Him! Although we mourn our joy is complete. Although we suffer we are thankful and healed. Although we are weak He strengthens us. Although we are rejected and despised, we are accepted and loved! Our life is not our own but His...and we lack nothing. Praise God! -
Joel Osteen. False Prophet?
faith pleases God replied to ChristServantSean's topic in General Discussion
In interviews he clearly compromises the word of God and truth in order to appease someboby. Whether he does this for fear or acceptance sake it is a distortion to avoid conflict. James 4:4 says, "You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." -
Joel Osteen. False Prophet?
faith pleases God replied to ChristServantSean's topic in General Discussion
yes, repentance and salvation should always be preached first and foremost. sadly though i've never heard olsteen preach on either of those subjects. i've heard a lot of motivational speaking and a lot of talk about what God will do for you, as though He were a genie in a bottle, but i've never heard one word from him on sin, its consequences, or salvation through Christ alone. if you have, i hope you'll share it here! i wasn't sue from what you posted whether you were supporting his preaching or not. you are right though about phil 1:18. that's a verse i've needed to have handy many times, and it always seems to escape me when i need it! I am against his preaching for the sake of the cross because repentance and salvation are the heart and seed of the gospel. If there is a watered down and diluted message of the cross this preaching is certainly it. I am concerned that he leads many astray as cults do...However, I am reminded of this scripture is why I wrote it and hopefully some come to Christ through it. In interviews he clearly skews the gospel and compromises it with no denial. -

Repentance and salvation are spiritual milk and should always be preached first and foremost. Becoming a better you for the mere sake of is not what the kingdom of God is about. That being said... Phil. 1:18 says, "But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached..." -
Pope Stirs Controversy with Evangelicals

Pope Francis tells atheists to abide by their own consciences, saying God's mercy has no limits. How's that for controversy if you believe there is no salvation for anyone other than Christ? -
Should I leave my church?
faith pleases God replied to redordead's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
It is all about seeking truth and being a sincere seeker of the Lord. This cult may be good hearted and well intended but it is deceived and teaches false doctrine. What is more important than loving and following truth? -
Palestine was never a nation, never had a king, never had a language, and have never had a capital. The Arabs in the area of the conquered Ottoman Empire in this territory were given a land after WW2 its name is Trans-Jordan. 3,000 years ago and now Israel is a nation, has had many kings/ministers, Hebrew is its language and Jerusalem is the City of God. It is the undeniable capital of Israel and God gets to decide whose land it is. Zechariah 12:9 On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.
