  1. As I understand dreadlocks wern't meant to be a style thing, even though some wear them well as a style. They were associated with the Nazarite vow of Samson, and if I'm not mistaken with Jesus being a Nazarene, which sounds like a continuation of the same order. However I understand Jesus put all that to death on Calvary, including even the Royal Law (the Ten Commandment), disarming all accusation against a believer. He took away the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, nailing it to the tree. Jesus bore the curse of the Law and destroyed every curse thereby, that means men can be liberated from even the Nazarite vow through faith in Jesus, to whom, through whom and for whom it was anyway. On a religious level it is akin with righteousness by works, and circumcision, and legalism, none of which will save you but rather grace through faith in Christ. Christ has launched for us "a new and living way" and one that "excelleth" the old -school and, we are told, has "better promises". I hope I didn't go off-topic or was it only a hairstyle issue lol?
  2. Yes, but the Bible clarifies that and that is my point. The Bible is careful to note that Jesus was talking about His body and not the literal Temple. We do not have ANY textual indicators that Jesus meant anything other than three days and three nights when he referred to his burial and resurrection. Furthermore, He cited Jonah's spending 72 hours in the belly of the fish and he used it as a literal event. No attempt was been made by Jesus or any other biblical writer to make Jonah's time less than 72 hours. It is treated as a litera event and Jesus expected to be understood in the same literal fashion. I have since my last post been persuaded that there may be more substance to the 3days/3nights matter.
  3. Thanks, that was a blessing.
  4. CaritateDei, would you consider reviewing this: Link? The counting of regnal years can sometimes be difficult or 'easy to make a mistake in' even amoung those familiar with such. I would ask if you would be so kind as to examine the link provided. Within, you may perhaps find a 'verse' or 'two' that may be of interest to you. I was impressed with the link if I may add, and was pleasantly enlightened. If it adds any further substance to the discussion I was surprised to notice that, "the next day, which followed the day of preparation..." Matt27:vs62, was still even more time to account for. If the Jewish day begins at dusk then...??? Let the experts work it out (lol). Also if the ninth hour is about 6 o'clock the Jesus' would have been still on the cross therefore would have been placed in the heart of the earth between then and dusk, or was it rather a spiritual descent? Through the fact that He gave "up" "the ghost"? Solomon tells us that the spirit of men rise and that of beasts descends to the earth Ecc3:21.
  5. ROFL Since you are using a saying that I use all too frequently: I hope your 'bait' is fresher than mine. I can't promise to get it out tonight as I am tired. However I shall do the best I might and you may count on it by this time tomorrow. Now, many people think this Shabbat fell on a Friday (since God's seven-day cycle begins at sundown on Friday evening). However, as we mentioned above, John 19:14 tells us it was not a regular Shabbat, but a High Holy Shabbat. Therefore, the Judeans wanted the bodies of Yeshua and the thieves off the crosses before sundown. This means that Yeshua was placed in his grave before sunset that evening. John 19: 41 In the vicinity of where he had been executed was a garden, and in the garden was a new tomb in which no one had ever been buried. 42 So, because it was Preparation Day for the Judeans, and because the tomb was close by, that is where they buried Yeshua. (Sterns Complete Jewish Bible) The above Scripture shows that Yeshua was placed in the heart of the earth approximately 5:00 p.m., or before sunset on the day He died. Seventy-two hours must end at the time we start the counting - about 5:00 p.m., or before sunset, that night. Even on the eve of His death, the LORD kept and fulfilled the Passover: He died on Wednesday the 14th of Nisan, and He rose some time after 3:00 p.m. on the Sabbath exactly three days later, depending on when He was placed in the grave. The Sabbath is in commemoration of YHWH's rest at creation (Genesis 2:2), and Yeshua's rest after His redemption of mankind. The Sabbath is for a reminder of the sign (three days and three nights) of who Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) is: He the Lord of the Sabbath. Now, exactly how do we know that He died on the 14th of Nisan and that, that particular 14th of Nisan fell on a Wednesday? Because the 14th of Nisan is the day on which God declared that the Feast of Passover should be celebrated FOREVER (Leviticus 23; Exodus 12:14)! And because of a series of events that took place just prior to the crucifixion: http://www.therefinersfire.org/resurrection.htm This was helpful, thanks.
  6. I believe Jesus took opportunity of the image of Jonah to tell the scribes and pharasees the type of things that he would suffer ahead (and partly because of them), and the passage is more of a rebuke to their corrupt generation, and esteeming Nineveh and the Queen of the South for their repentance. IMO the greater emphasis here was not on the 3 days/3 nights, it may be how it was translated that made it stand out beyond measure. The adversity was probably trying to exploit a misemphasis.
  7. Jesus told them also of how He'd rebuild the temple in 3 days (3 nights wern't mentioned here), and He was referring to His body John 2:19,21. This implies He meant things lighter than the way we've been taking it.
  8. Are you saying, its not the day its the message yes.
  9. Again, you are failing to account for the fact that it John tells us what kind of Sabbath it was, AND the fact that we still have to reconcile Jesus own words that he would be in the ground for three days and three nights and it is impossible to get 72 hours out of Friday evening to Sunday morning If I might add, that another prophecy is fulfilled in "only" Jesus legs not having been broken despite their hastening of sabbath preparations. This may be instructive of the fact that things are still valid, and to observe the burial part rather than the time detail.
  10. 3 days were at least involved. Let's not neglect the value of the Lord sufferings and embarrassment (shame), pain and "bloodshed" on our behalf (evidence of love), and not let it get eclipsed by maybe unnecessary over-emphases of time detail. I had a guarded laugh at how troublesome this matter has been, though the wonder of Calvary which had me reeling for a season, is where I believe the treasure is, and that death couldn't hold Him.
  11. Regarding the calendic integrity of Christmas and Easter and the like, the church is not subject to the demands of meticulous rudimentary processings whether natural or mystical but must essentially express it's world over-comeing liberty, in the grace of God.

  13. Because mankind is being restored from a fallen state, through the gospel, scientific mind grope for substance as knowledge increases.

  15. I agree with this. I'm also reminded of John 1:4 that "...the life (Jesus) was the light of men." When a child is born of a woman they enter into a set-up where their "peace and fulfillment" is hidden in their freewill decision to live for Christ. Things may even seem to get worse but praise God, they'd be glory-bound.
  16. Be encouraged, I hope you have christians who can reassure and refresh you, and you them. As I understand the godly will suffer persecution on many levels, but don't grow weary, remain faithful to the Lord without apology.
  17. With mixed marriage, the Christian faith is the only thing that will defend it, once it's godly.IMO
  18. Jesus in His prayer in John 17:5 mention of how He was with the Father before the world was, and again in John 18:36 that His Kingdom is not of this world. The Bible was inspired from a position of victory to those who were receptive to the Holy Spirit like Abraham in Heb 11:8, and this is still the case in those who are saved.
  19. I once read a book that ssuggested we remain on our knees in prayer until....I think it went on to talk about the Holy Spirit manifesting, though it also talks about brokeness. I did it then that was some years ago and I want go there again, because it was a rich experience
  20. I believe the only answer is found in Christianity, that both persons must deny themselves, and the traditions of men and the associated, and go forward in God's vision and liberty. May these things be known and honoured among both families and friends. May God's grace be abundant in your marriage.
  21. That we're to live by faith and not by sight. I've been considering this alot lately, this angle on it might justify alot of people. It might also be the context of His advising us to pluck out our eye were it to offend. Also that he made His eyes a flame of fire. These seem to speak of ruthless integrity and faithfullness. IMO.
  22. hi angelique, you sounded pleasantly mature in how you presented your post. It reminded me of when Jesus challenged the rich man to let go of his riches and follow Him. Similarly I hear Him challengeing us to let go our secret abilities and powers. Could we do it? Is Christianity worth it despite all we've experienced? I imagine your sensitivity might increase to try to keep you interested or overwelm you, but never give in. Know that the Word is the eternal faithful no matter how simple it may seem amidst all the mystery and perplexity you may be faceing, the Word is the truth to set us free.
  23. I very much agree. Maybe inviting the unsaved to Wb can be similar to inviting them to church, though not to be substituted of course. It would be very helpful in answering their initial questions.
