  1. I've been trying to trust in God for 30 years. It takes lots of guts and more than I have most of the time. Dan
  2. Gee Naomi!!!! Don't you know we're all gonna die from Global Warming first. Just ask your good alpha-male buddy Al Gore. We'll be gone way befor Bush gets to realize a facist State! You know it really gets to me with these libs. On one hand they think Bush is an absolute idiot. Then they turn right around and acuse him of something only an evil genius could pull off. So which is it? Dummy? Genius? Dan
  3. Whats that tune of hers..." If it makes to happy?. Well...hmmmm...perhaps something that rhymes with happy. Oh welll......I am thankful to God shes OK from the cancer thing. I don't think shes evil. Just pretty silly which is fine because I need some comedic relief. Being able to have a good laugh is a sign that your still in the game. (life) Thanks Sheryl! Dan
  4. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6583067.stm You know...as gloomy as the future looks with Global Warming and all. I for one feel that some more mandatory measures should be put into place as opposed to just using less toitet paper on a voluntary basis. Lets strike at the heart of the problem and once and for all ban all high fiber foods thus removing the need for so much usage in the first place! Fossil fuels and high fiber foods have to go! Dan
  5. I hope the Global Warming starts soon.. I'm sitting here in HOUSTON TEXAS! freezing my tale off. 29 degrees. Man...when the Lord decides to crank on the AC, he dosen't fool around. IM COLD!!!! Dan
  6. If you believe you can lose it, I can narrow it down to where only the last hours of your life really count for anything. Theres no way around it. Dan
  7. I actually see the Global Warming Doomsdayers as useful idiots because it would be good for the States to start using less and less oil. Oil money if how terrorist are funded in the end. I want a divorce from the middle-east oil producers. As far as "Global Warming" is concerned, I live in Houston and its been freezing. Bring it on! Dan
  8. Butero..I should clarify something. Believing OSAS dosen't mean you believe you can now just chase the flesh and be merry. I believe I am saved because Jesus saved me when I called out to him. I asked him to save me from myself as much as anything else. Myself ...is not what saves me. Because I am connected to God through Jesus I can no longer enjoy sin because of the conviction that salvation brings. I don't wish to do sin but sometimes I fall. Don't you? We fall everyday and if salvation is a minute to minute thing then its really nothing more than a crap shoot or just a simple matter of timing. So I can live like a devil and repent at the last minute? Repent means to turn around and go the other way. That happened when I got saved. It dosent mean I won't have struggles with the flesh. But if your are just having a good old time with your sin without conviction...you never were saved to begin with because the Holy Spirit won't allow that. Hes a party pooper. The problem with the false doctrine of lost salvation is that it forces a person to depend on themselves to keep it rather than trusting in what Christ did on the cross. Imputed rightousness is what seperates the Gospel (Good News) from every other religion that teaches you that you have to work for it. Believe me,,,,being good enough to go to heaven is work no one is up for. Only Jesus can pull that off. I'm free because my sin are paid for. Dan

    Suicide

Falling on a grenade is suicide. Sometimes its in the interest of those around you. What did Jesus say about a man who lays down his life for his friends? Dan
  10. I am not a big talk radio listener, I prefer NPR, but I have listened to him several times, and I even watched his show a few times back when it was on T.V. in the nineties. The man is a narcissistic, bigoted, hatemonger. As I said earlier, he can't even keep a wife. Sure, he is entertaining, but like my wife said, when she read that he was nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, she thought it must have been a story out of The Onion or something. NPRrrrrrrr! Oh No! Thats run by a bunch a leftist longhaired pinko commy treehuggin VW van drivin hippies! Dan
  11. Concidering some of the folks who have recieved this prizem I wouldn't think Rush would even want it. Dan
  12. I am American and I would vote for Charlie to be the pres over Hillary. Dan
  13. Then they should stay clear of Hillary because inspite of what she is now saying, in 03 she made no secret of her desire to get rid of Hussain. This is very documented. She was every bit as gung ho as Bush. Now she wants to defund the troops. Dan Good point but what if the Dems don't select Hillary? Thats easy. They won't win. Dan
  14. Here is your answer - James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. If you know that is good to avoid smoking and you don't do it then you sin. Whether God will hold that against you is up to him. All I can do is read the scriptures where is says that the wages of sin is death. You could be taking it in your own hands by flirting with God by purposely sinning. We could be like the Jews in the wilderness - Psalms 78:40-41 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. I have to ask myself everyday what sin am I going to allow to stay in my life that could take me to hell. It only takes one sin to keep us out. The sin that we would not repent of, not the ones we are working on, but the ones that I justify to keep in my life. Yes the wages of sin is death. This is why your current currupt body is dying. You will recieve a new body at the resurection that will be free from the effects of sin. Paul in his letter to Timothy said " I am the chief of all sinners". Notice he didn't say I was. I will conceed that if someone sins and feels good about it, they are in trouble and I would question if they are truely saved because being saved takes all of the fun out of sin. Still, believing in your ability to keep the law and believing that Jesus died for your sins are not in concert with one another. Your not trusting Jesus, rather yourself. Legalism is not freedom nor is it "Good News" (gospel). Nor is it amazing grace. Theres nothing amazing about grace thats only there when you are strong. If you could be sinless enough to enter heaven, Jesus would not have subjected himself to a horrible death on a cross. That method of execution was born out of hell itself. Dan

    Suicide

This is a very interesting subject to me. I have thought about suicide for a few years now because of a very painful disease (lupas\sjogrens & mixed connective tissue disorder with severe tinnitus)thats eating me alive. I would love to end it because I hate my life but I love my sons too much to do it. Plus I'm chicken. I don't know how much time I have but I have decided to leave it to God. I'm ready to go home. Dan
  16. Pardon me dgolvach....but I am a little confused on whare you stand and what point you are trying to get at. Can you share with me what you believe about OSAS It kind of sounds to me like you are playing "the devils advocate" to get a response... Like I said though, I am a little confused on where you are going with your statements. I am useing questions to make a point before I back up my belief that salvation is secure. Sometimes communicating on the net can be a bit cloudy because I'm really not trying to be a wise guy. Its a little humor sprinkled in and I don't mean to offend. I suppose it might come off a little differant. So I am sorry if I was offencive. My point is that the claims you are making about salvation will surely damn us all. None of us live up to that. There are areas in our lives that havent been surrenderd to God. If we were completely surrendered we would never sin at all. We are practically still sinners. I know people who preach this while they are smoking.. Please allow me some time to put a biblical case together for OSAS. God Bless Dan
  17. Can we post this up where all the smokers on the board can see? Is nicorest a sin as well? Dan
  18. Then they should stay clear of Hillary because inspite of what she is now saying, in 03 she made no secret of her desire to get rid of Hussain. This is very documented. She was every bit as gung ho as Bush. Now she wants to defund the troops. Dan
  19. What about the smokers? I will light a cigar maybe once or twice a year. Does this mean I have 6 months to repent in between smokes? I plan on doing it again. Its simple. Does our salvation hinge on Christ or our ability to overcome every sin including the small ones. Dan
  20. Well for one thing..they are our allies. They are the only democracy in that region. Even if you don't believe they are the "chosen ones", there are still very good reasons to support them. Its like asking if we should support England if they are attacked. Dan
  21. "We will sin everyday, but where is my heart in this? Do I repent or just brush it off?" If you repent today, you are fine. If tommorow you brush it off, you have just taken the down swing of the Yo Yo. Next Saturday you repent, right back up the string you go. I can biblically support that smoking is a sin. Do all smokers who don't quit go to hell? Dan
  22. There is no "Yo Yo Salvation". Usually people who don't understand make these kinds of statements. Playing with sin is like palying with fire. Eventually you will get burned. We are commanded to work out our salvation. That takes in repenting of our sins as we learn of them. Where Christians are going to lose their salvation is when they choose not repent and choose to keep their sins. Ephesians 5:3-6 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. "let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints" This means after we have become Christians. "hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God" This means that if I don't repent of these sins after I have become a Christian then I won't have any inheritance in the kingdom. As we have seen in the scriptures that God's mercy is where he wants to show it. We have seen people struck dead for small sins and people forgiven for big ones. If I am striving to do what is right then God's mercy is with me, but if I want to play around with sin then I need to aks myself what is the next sin that I committ where God will take away my name out of the book of life. So you have never commited a small sin and repented but found yourself doing it again the next day? Yo Yo salvation is very acurate. I never said sin is something we should do. I said we do it. What you don't seem to understand is that the sins you will commit today are enough to send you to hell. Is your righteousness greater than that of the pharasees? Trust me...these guys knew way more about God's law than you or I. Dan
  23. You are only partially correct here. God's word tells us: Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God. Romans 13:1 HCSB So if there is a posted speed law, and we break it; we are not submitting to the governing authorities. We are in fact resisiting them. Thus we are in direct disobedience to Romans 13:1 No question. Fender bender sin as it is, its still sin and to break one point of the law is to break the whole of the law. Speeding is absolutely a sin. So is not stopping completely at a stop sign. It is the law set by the Goverment. Its enough to send you to hell because God's standard is absolute perfection. No sin at all. So I have to ask those who believe in Yo Yo salvation if they have repented of their sinful driving habits. If you live here in Houston, I'm almost sure you haven't. Driving in Houstom almost requirres you to live in this sin. Sometime you die while in the act of commiting this sin. Dan (sinner on wheels)
  24. yeah I also actually believe that Jesus died for my sins. praise God for His marvelous work. Now what is your point is this your idea of chasing one down to get them to admit to something. OC Heres the thing OC ..I have lived long enough to hear good biblical arguements from both sides of this issue. Life has taught me that there is our version of holyness and God's. God's is the standard not ours. Anyone who believes his life is up to God's standard is decieving himself. (her) Yet, God's perfect standard is the requirement to get into heaven. When we sincerely invite Christ to come and take over we are imputed with his rightousnous. Its a total act of grace. I'm not saying this gives us a ticket to go out and have a sin party. Yet we still have sin in our lives. If you have Christ there will be a very uneasy feeling with sin because you are now at war with yourself. Yes we do change but its not an overnight event always. Its a process that we will endure for the rest of our lives. Repent means to turn around and go the other direction. If your walking down a rocky slope and turn around, its still a rocky walk up and you still stumble. I believe the Holy Spirit guides us in the right direction but the Holy Spirit is a gift. Now if you are as happy as can be and satisfied and fufilled with your sin then I would say your conversion was false to begin with. You only said words you didn't mean. God knows if really want him or not. If you truely saw your condition and called out to him, you have been turned around and forgiven through what Jesus did. I also believe that sin has consequences. Oh! Yes...David found out the hard way. But I believe we still are saved. David was after God's own heart. Its either grace or justice. We all deserve to go to hell. I don't want justice. Do you? Dan
