  1. Thanks for sharing that article. I suppose the guessing games continue. One thing for sure, one day someone will be right. I do wonder why so many are just waiting for the Lord to return when clearly so many are still lost?
  2. Oak, I am rather unsure about advice but I can this one thing. I feel you need to do what keeps you say from further injury. It is a tough situation you are in. Praying for you!
  3. good point!
  4. I am not against teaching people how to learn, but it just seems so many today want someone else to tell them how to do things or what the Bible says. I hear time and time again, "Well, what does the Bible say about this?" Does anyone search the Scriptures for themselves. James 1:5 says "If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." We are to study to show ourselves approved. You learn about the Bible by reading the Bible. There is no magic formula. Pick it up and read it. Pray about it and the Holy Spirit will guide you. Romans 8:26 tells us the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We should be depending on God to teach us, rather than looking for the "cliff notes" shortcuts to knowledge.
  5. The governement has some tough immigration laws: 1.There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, and all government business will be conducted in our language. 2. Foreigners will not have the right to vote, not matter how long they are here. 3. Foreigners will never be able to hold political office. 4. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no foodstams, no healthcare, nor any other government assistance programs. 5. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage. 6. If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay, but options will be restricted. They are not allowed to own waterfront property. The property is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country. 7. Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving of a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies. If they do they will be deported. 8. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail. Those are some tough laws. So what's the problem? Why should we be having immigration problems? The reason is, those laws are not the laws of the US, they are the immigration laws of MEXICO! Congress get a clue. (* From J. Michael Waller, VP of Information Operation at the Center for Security Policy, Mexico's Glass House)
  6. Tigger, I agree with your thoughts on this with one exception. The word God is not the problem. God can be anyone or anything to people. Most don't care if you say the word God, but boy, say the name of Jesus and its freak out time. Just lines up with Scripture. Jesus told us they hated him before they hated us, because before he came their sins were not "pointed out to them" (pharaphrased). Onelight, Amen!
  7. If there were no laws, anarchy would rule. It would be anything goes and only the strong would survive. All you need to do is look at any country where gangs (for lack of a better word) take over and start raping, killing and burning down villages just because they have the will and manpower to do so. They decide who lives and dies. Is that the kind of society you want to live in? Laws are passed to keep those things from happening. Yes, they still happen, but at least you know if the person or persons are caught, they are put in jail. You have to legislate morality in order to avoid chaos. When you have no laws saying what is right and wrong, then anarchy rules. All freedom at that point is gone. You cannot live freely in a country where gangs take over, because you never know when or where they will strike and you can be sure your religious freedoms will be gone. Those types have no interest in God and I am sure they kill those who do. Just look at how many missionaries that have been killed working in other countries that have civil strife because of militants who go around killing anyone they choose. There are many people who enforce the laws of this land that I imagine are not Christians, yet they know that its wrong to kill, they know its wrong to rob peope, they know its wrong to rape. There is a sense of right and wrong placed in all of us by our Creator. Most people want to live by that knowledge regardless of whether they acknowledge where it came from or not. They may not accept God, but they know what is right and wrong. Anyway, those are my thoughts on legislating morality.
  8. It's hard to believe an airline would intentionally let someone on board that has no seat and then force them to ride in the bathroom. That violates sooooo many safety violations. Sounds like another person trying to make a quick buck. I could be wrong, but it sure seems that way.
  9. No one can impose (force) their beliefs on any one. I guess the question is, do you intrepret having Christian beliefs shared as "imposing?" I know some people are aggressive in how they share their beliefs, but you cannot force someone to believe something they choose not to believe. One always has the freedom to walk away and not listen, or to not read something they don't want to.
  10. Satan cannot repent because he has already been judged! Jesus says in John 12:31, "Now judgment is upon this world and now the ruler of this world shall be cast out." Jesus was anticipating His cross as a triumph over Satan. And He says again in John 16:11, "The ruler of this world has been judged."
  11. It seems to me that if a town has a curfew imposed on it, the authorities have the right to stop a peson and find out why they are not obeying the curfew. We lived under Marshall Law for about a month after Hurricane Katrina and you expected to be stopped if you were out passed the curfew that was set. You would think people would appreciate the fact that they are trying to help stop some of the violence in that town. Just my 2cents.
  12. Kenny, not all who claim to be Christians are, so not all killings under the name of 'christianity" are done by Christians. I don't quite know how you got hatred out of this message. Not being tolerant of what is called sin by God is not hatred. I don't tolerate bad behavior in my grandkids but it doesn't mean I hate them. It simply means they know the rules and are expected to abide by them. God has given us rules or standards to live by and anything short of that is not tolerated. As Christians our standards should be the same as Gods. That does not mean hatred towards others.
  13. Well maybe it's just me, but if you want Muslim holidays move to a country that is predominately Muslim and not expect every country you move to, to change their holidays to accomadate you (Muslims).
  14. Onelight are you referring to the Aprophycra? If so, the answer about the Complete Jewish Bible by Stern is no. I can't speak for any others. I was in Borders today ans looked at at the index. In the OT, they listed books that are not in my NKJV. This was a concern to me. Would you do me a favor and compare the two and let us know? I do not want to get the book I looked at confused with the one you are talking about. I did not get the authors name ... sorry. Thanks Glory! God Bless, OneLight Onelight...the Complete Jewish Bible has all the books your KJV or other translations have the difference is the names are in Hewbrew and the OT is not in the order you find in our Bible, but all of them are there. I really like the CJB...its very interesting but does take some getting use to.

  16. LadyRaven, point taken and what a funny story about the "rubber".
  17. I enjoyed reading the information that those of you shared about the why's of some of the traditions we have. Most everyone says 21 gun salute and we know what it means without being so technical. I can understand being technical if you are doing a report or you are in the military or doing your job, which requires exact terminology, but in the course of conversation, I am not sure that it is that important. I have never seen a scientist freak out because we say the sun is setting, when the sun is not moving, its the earth rolling over. Just some food for thought.
  18. Lol, well I guess those who thing its wrong to kill an animal have no problem killing plants. Mmmmm...come to think of it I have killed a few plants just by bringing them home . I guess plants don't have the same rights as animals....
  19. Lol, floating....way to go. No need for me to post the key you got it right. It's fun to challenge the brain once in a while. Thanks for playing along. But, I will post the key just because I said I would: I once made a remark about the hidden books of the Bible. It was a lulu, kept people looking so hard for facts, as for others is was a revelation. Some were in a jam, especially since the names of the books are not capitalized, but the truth finally struck home to numbers of readers. To others, it was a real job. We want it to be a most fascinating few moments for you. Yes, there will be some really easy ones to spot. Others may require judges to help them. I will quickly admit it usually takes a minister (refers to Ecclesiastes) to find one of the 17, and there will be loud lamentations when it is found. A little lady says she brews a cup of tea so she can concentrate better. See how well you compete. Relax now, for there really are 17 books of the Bible in these sentences. (One preacher found 16 books in 20 minutes. It took him three weeks to find the seventeenth one.)
  20. Ollkiller, telling you that you were wrong was meant to be funny, thats why I put the little smiley after it. I am sorry if it seemed rude to you. I meant no offence.
  21. Fresno Joe...amen to that!
