Could some one please tell me if the Menorah was one of the instruments of the tabernacle. Does the Menorah have the Star of David on it when it was first made. Where did the Star of David come from? Is the Star of David a masonic symbol? I know questions, questions, questions...but I need to know...I am on a need to know bases.....

Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Yes it was a piece of the Tabernacle 'furniture', it was in fact, the only source of light in the Holy Place.

Many believe the original Manorah did not have three 'rows' of arms like the replicas we see today, but rather the six arms--while all the same height--were in a hexagonal formation. The hexagon suggesting the Star of David.

Some Masonic groups have adopted a six-sided star, however they have adopted mostly Muslim symbols, including the eight-sided star of Suleiman the Magnificent. I have not seen a Masonic symbol with the actual Star of David, which is six-sided and composed of two interlaced equalateral triangles.

With a blessing,

Leonard, a sinner

There's already been a lengthy discussion on the Star of David here:

Maybe you can check that out and see if your question has been answered already. OK?

Peace!

These two pictures show a view of the Arch of Titus in Rome...it depicts some of the things taken from Jerusalem including the Golden Menorah of the Temple in the war of CE 66-70.

Many Rabbis now believe that this Menorah is hidden away within the vaults of the Vatican in Rome and I think one even claims to have seen it there.It is certainly a possibility.

Exo 25:31  "You shall make a menorah of pure gold. Of hammered work shall the menorah be made, even its base, its shaft, its cups, its buds, and its flowers, shall be of one piece with it.

Exo 25:32  There shall be six branches going out of its sides: three branches of the menorah out of its one side, and three branches of the menorah out of its other side;

Exo 25:33  three cups made like almond blossoms in one branch, a bud and a flower; and three cups made like almond blossoms in the other branch, a bud and a flower, so for the six branches going out of the menorah;

Exo 25:34  and in the menorah four cups made like almond blossoms, its buds and its flowers;

Exo 25:35  and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, for the six branches going out of the menorah.

Exo 25:36  Their buds and their branches shall be of one piece with it, the whole of it one beaten work of pure gold.

Exo 25:37  You shall make its lamps seven, and they shall light its lamps to give light to the space in front of it.

Exo 25:38  Its snuffers and its snuff dishes shall be of pure gold.

Exo 25:39  It shall be made of a talent of pure gold, with all these accessories.

Exo 25:40  See that you make them after their pattern, which has been shown to you on the mountain.

The "star of david" did not come to symbolize the jewish people till after the time of Yeshua ...it was originally used on a flag, granted a jewish community to symbolize self rule, in gratitude for thier part of a military victory and came from the pagan symbol for luck.......it came to be known as the star of david as he was our most famous king/ruler and who we choose to identify with as a "man after G-ds own heart". This is the explanation given by an older rabbi, a wonderful man who truelly sought to honor HaShem in all he did and made jewish history his lifes passion.

There are actually two menorahs employed in Jewish life today. The seven-branched menorah, which is a replica of the Temple menorah, is used today during Yom Hashoah. Six of the seven branches stand for the six million Jews who were murdered in Hitler's madness. The seventh, is used to symbolize the 1 and 1/2 million children that died in the Holocaust.

The middle (4th) branch of the seven branched menorah, is called the "Shamash" or "servant" branch, and I believe it is a reference to Yeshua. I can start another thread on the theology of the menorah, if anyone is interested. Granted it will be coming from my point of view, so it will be somewhat subjective.

There is another menorah consisting of nine branches. It is used during the eight days of Chanukah to celebrate Israel's victory over the Syrian dictator, Antiochus Epiphenes.

Those not familiar with the Story of Chanukah can read about it here.

The Story of Chanukah

The menorah used for Channukah consists of the eight branches for the eight miraculous days that the Menorah stayed lit even though there was just enough oil for only one day. The ninth branch serves as the "servant" branch and it is used to light the other eight.

The Chanukah menorah can have a Star of David (which is not a pagan symbol, I repeat, NOT a pagan symbol) or it can made into various designs. Chanukah menorahs are made from brass, wood (with metal inserts), soap stone, clay, glass, crystal, and other materials.

They can look like anything. I have seen a menorah that was made to look like the western wall in Jersusalem! There is no end to what you can make. Your imagination is the limit.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
