MARRIAGE

I was single until 10 months ago and I remember being so frustrated and depressed over not having someone.

If it is the Lord's will, you will find someone.

My personal advice is just concentrate on being the person you can be in the Lord and seek to please Him and then it will hit you like a brick wall and be the best thing you have ever experienced.

You know what Jesus said:

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.....

Sounds to me like your mother wants the wedding and grandchildren, but doesn't want you to be happy in marriage.

Speaking from my own experience of being married twice now, let's just say that getting married is not something for everyone (yeah, like my ex-wife).

Marriage should only be entered into when you find your soul mate. Someone you want to spend the rest of your life with. Marriage isn't there just because everyone else is doing it, and marriage isn't there to provide grandchildren for your mother. If your mother is that desperate for grandchildren then perhaps she should have had a few more children of her own.

I guess I got off easy on the grandchildren thing, because by the time I was having them my older brother had already had five children, and my sister had a son as well. Now, including my two kids, my parents have 13 grandchildren.

If you take marriage as seriously as God does, then you will wait until your soul mate arrives. Don't just marry someone just to get married. That's what I did with my first wife - what a disaster. Lots of bad memories, an illegitimate child, two reposessed cars, and a trail of tears (and a ton of debt) on both sides of the coin.

And I've often heard it said that when you stop looking for your future spouse you will find them without even trying. When you stop acting desperate then often times your change in attitude affects the rest of your life.

Look at the positives here. You don't have to change any stinky diapers. You don't have some guy in your life that smells in the morning and leaves dirty underwear all over the floor for you to pick up. And there are none of those annoying hairs in your sink from him not being able to clean up after he shaves. You are also not tied down to a family. If you want to do something you don't need a babysitter, and if you get the urge to go out of town you don't need an act of congress to get it done (or a small fortune).

Being single has a lot of positive attributes to it. You should try focusing on those things that build you up, rather then the things you think you are missing out on.
