Two Christian women held in Tehran prison

Rom 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rom 5:2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Rom 5:3 More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

Rom 5:4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,

Rom 5:5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Rom 5:6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

Rom 5:7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person--though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die--

Rom 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Lord Jesus, we pray for your swift and sudden hand in this matter. Just as Paul was thrown in jails for his love of You, and released by Your hand again and again, we pray for release of these women in your name. We pray for healing by Your hand of all illness, and we pray for Your merciful hand upon those who detain them for their faith.

Dear heavenily Father,

I bring these two Iranian sisters before you in prayer, who are suffering for thy name's sake in a God forsaken land, asking that you divinely intervene on their behalf and compel and convict the judge who is causing them to remain in prison to permanently release them and make a way for them to receive the medical care that they so badly require. Bring about a miraculous healing for thy name's sake and encourage them to continue to gain strength from you. In Jesus name, Amen.

On Wednesday October 7th there was a new and a more promising development in the case of Maryam and Marzieh, the two young Christian women who have been imprisoned in Iran for their Christian faith since March 2009, reports FCNN.com.

On the morning of October 7th, 2009 Maryam and Marzieh were unexpectedly taken to appear before the court to face three charges: anti-state activities, propagation of the Christian faith and apostasy.

There was a new judge presiding, and unlike the previous judges, he was sympathetic. He acquitted Maryam and Marzieh from the charge of anti-state activities, which rarely happens. This is a great relief for the two women and their lawyer was very pleased.

As a result, their case will now be transferred from the revolutionary court to the general court that will now have to consider the other two charges.

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;

make known his deeds among the peoples!

Sing to him, sing praises to him;

tell of all his wondrous works!
