There's a bit of a panic going around here and I want to put more scriptures up on my facebook for people to calm them. I don't like seeing people worry so much about something that's in God's hands. I can't imagine not having God in my life right now. I know I would be a total mess right now without faith.

I think most of us would put in a really big Amen about not having God in our lives right now...... I'd be terrified at the things going on around us even more than the H1N1.

I drove my wife down to one of the schools this afternoon where she got the H1N1 vaccine. They are giving it to kids six and above for free here. My wife has MS and their school nurse instructed her to go get vaccinated with the kids today.

This flu seems to hit younger people much harder than us older folks. Most likely the older crowd has been exposed to something similiar years ago.

Last week late we had 20% of the students absent tuesday and wednesday....... and that's not normal here for the regular flu even at it's peak. We really haven't gotten the flu season started yet.

It's going to be an interesting winter.

Oh Lord. My daycare called and said the girl has H1N1. My son was there today. It's all around us here. God, please protect our family.

More scriptures would be great!

Do not fear. No matter what happens, He is in control.

Luke 12

4 And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

5 But I will warn you of whom you shall fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yea, I say to you, fear Him.

6 Are not five sparrows sold for two assaria? And not one of them is forgotten before God.

7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore do not fear, you are of more value than many sparrows.

My husband deals with patients all day, including those with swine flu. Ive had the swine flu already. For me, it was mild. For others I know its bad. I read an article about a 20ish yr old man who is likely not going to survive this, who has been in a medically induced coma now, in the hospital for 3 weeks. He cant breathe on his own at all.

Supposedly those who were born in or prior to 1957 were exposed to a similar virus and may have some immunity. The virus appears to be very easy to catch. This is my first cold/ flu in about a decade. So far tho, the mortality rate is lower than the seasonal flu. Its just a different population (younger not older) who seems to be most at risk.

Teach your kids to wash their hands, use hand sanitizers, and to cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze. This is the best way to protect them, and you too, from the flu. The cdc website has a lot of useful information.

I would like to add that for the most part, you only need to worry about a fever if it gets over about 103 F.

Not always true in a small infant - they can get quickly dehydrated with 102 and some accompanying side effects like diarrhea or vomiting. With children - it's best to stay in contact with your pediatrician.

Well, I don't know if parents should do this or do this because I am not a parent but maybe you could buy your boy one of those mask things so he wont catch it at school?

They are giving them to children in one of our county school systems - large county and they had over 4,000 kids out of school in the last 2 weeks... Even though our little one was tested negative and THEN came up positive for H1N1 - the pulmonary dr. still wants her to get the vaccine... God is good and He is still in charge and watching over us.

I was kind-of thinking of us older people, but thanks for clarifying.

Actually - I very frequently run a low-grade fever (especially when I have an unusually high SED rate) and when it is 101 - 102 ... I am not doing well at all... I usually feel so ill I take my work and go home... I've a friend who has a very low body temperature (97?) and when she gets a temp of 100 - she's miserable. And - as I said, I had a child who convulsed at 103 and another who could have 105 and play and run around...

Yeah that's weird.

The point, though, is that at a too high temp., the heat starts to damage your body. I've heard that happens around 104 F.
