It is very strange to read the differences to me. This is from Matthew 24:7

KJV

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Their version

Ethnic groups and nation-states will fight against one another, and famines and earthquakes will strike in various places.

Nations and Kingdoms are made of of more then one ethnic group. Nation-states sound like New Hampshire against Vermont. Not the same picture being painted.

I was going to post this a few days back, but I was fairly Cretan it would make it here without my assistance.

What about that ethnic groups bit? It seems not only to be talking about States, but that piece also seems fairly out there.

I think it's a very distorted view and I won't be purchasing it for my use.

People have been rewriting God's Word for a long time. I just stick to what I know is Truth. The simpler they make it the weaker they make it.

Yeah, every version has something people can complain about.

What I see is another attempt not to change the Scriptures but adjust the language to modern times.

And I didn't say it's preferred - for example the way they translate "Holy Spirit" is a bit weird. But the notes they put to the side are informative. And when studying a passage, it is always useful to see how various translators deal with the translation for a more complete perspective. I just add this one to the list.

And it's not like they are trying to make homosexuality acceptable like certain other modern translation(s). :whistling:

I recently was made aware of Conservatives re writing the bible to better siut there needs. Especially so they can attack the left and make Jesus look more capitalist than socialist. This is not good! I dont care if your a conservative to the core. The bible must not be altered to meet individual needs. I know it has been altered before and Liberal christians have done it in the past with gender equality and such. I have a link that talks about it.

http://conservapedia.com/Conservative_Bible_Project

OK, instead of reacting to your analysis, I thought I would check it out for myself. And I am not seeing what you are seeing. I don't see anything in there about politics. I skimmed through the Introduction of the link, and I really got a different impression about the project.

Also, I followed the links to read some of the text, and I found it to be very educational. Some of their translations seem weird, but next to key "changes" were explanations to why the changes and what the original text stated.

You should check it out before jumping down their throats.

(I opened it up to Matthew, in case you are interested in what I looked at.)

Neb, in their guidelines for what bias they want to have in their translation, they list this:

Express Free Market Parables; explaining the numerous economic parables with their full free-market meaning

That didnt concern you? The parables were never about money, but about spiritual matters of God. They are putting a monetary spin on them.
