Jesus' body and blood being truly present in bread and wine. Especially when it's explicit in Scripture!

Cite specific scripture to support your position please.....no conjecture, no private interpretation; just pure and unadulterated Word of God......

Thanks!

Serving Him,

Bob

How much easier and 'cleaner' things would be if spirit never dirtied itself with matter...much less bread or wine, mere basic things. But God approves of matter

Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you: except you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you.

He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.

For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed.

He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood abideth in me: and I in him.

(Jn 6:54-57)

Can't get much more explicit than that. If you acknowledge the Greek words in text and the context of the verse, the literal interpretation is the only plausible one, IMO.

Now, if you would please cite specific scripture support for your position that God is One God in 3 persons please...no conjecture, not private interpretation; just pure and unadulterated Word of God. Or if that verse is difficult to find, you can cite the verse that says that Scripture is the sole rule of faith. No conjecture, no private interpretation; just pure and unadulterated Word of God.

See my point? I believe it is explicit in Scripture that Jesus commands us to consume His actual body and blood, certainly as explicit as either of the other two doctrines that you no doubt hold to.

In Matthew 26:26, Jesus said, "Take and eat; THIS IS MY BODY."

In Matthew 26:27-28 Jesus said, "All of you drink of this; FOR THIS IS MY BLOOD OF THE NEW COVENANT, WHICH IS BEING SHED FOR MANY UNTO THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS."

How does "THIS IS MY BODY" mean THIS IS A SYMBOL of MY BODY?

okay, I may be stupid, but as he was telling His disciples this at the last supper, did they start just knawing on him there or did the bread and wine turn to His flesh and blood while He was still sitting there (for He had not been crucified yet.)?

What happened to the elements at the Last Supper? While Jesus was still sitting there? Any idears? Hmmmm? :t2: I ain't talking to you Serving Him...remember we don't discuss Catholic doctrine?

"The words I have spoken to you are spirit" does not mean "What I have just said is symbolic." The word "spirit" is never used that way in the Bible.

If this were the case, when we see the verse that 'angels are messenger SPIRITS' do we then mean that angels are symbolic? How about when we see 'God is Spirit'? Do we then conclude that God is symbolic?

To deny the literal translation is to call Jesus a horrible teacher, IMO. There are well over 5 times in Scripture when Jesus corrects the people he taught when they interpreted his teaching incorrectly. He then declares the literal eating of his flesh, many of his own disciples walk out on him, and he doesn't bother to call them back and tell them, 'Hey, I REALLY meant that this bread SYMBOLIZES my body, silly!'. Why not?

My position is that the elements are symoblic and they represent the body and blood of Christ. They do not miraculously change into the body and blood. The juice or wine still tastes like juice and wine (and it is still a sugary carbohydrate), and the bread or cracker still crumbles and chews.

I never said that the practice held no significance. On the contrary, it is VERY significant.

But, to say that the elements tangibly change during the event is just inaccurate.

You conveniently left off the rest of the discourse.

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Christians are not cannibalistic, and I think one could make an argument against it solely on the basis that all throughout scripture we are admonished to avoid the eating of blood.

Joh 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

What kind of door is Jesus? Wooden double-doors? Metal? Drawbridge?

Joh 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

What form of ultraviolet ray is Jesus? Gamma, X? Or maybe He is a bulb? Incandescent? Fluorescent? Hmmm.

Psa 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings

What kind of wings does God have? More importantly, what type of bird is He?

I could go on and on...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
