Confession, When I confess my sins some people see it as self comdeemnation of my self. According to scripture in 1 John 1:9 if i confess that I can be cleased of every worng. Also in the same chapter is says if you bring your sin out of the darkness and into the light it will be no more. So, if we confess to get rid of the sins in out lives, why is it that we make it out to be so hard? :prayer

Well, Ray, in my case, (and I expect in most) it's hard to think that we may be wrong about anything. We fear what mankind will think of us when our emphasis should be on how God sees us.

You bring up a good point. The Bible shows us to go to our Brothers and Sisters for help with this.

It's hard because sin is shameful. That's why we hide it.

May we all have the strength to seek out Christ to overcome sin.

Hello Ray:

Listen......a very important thing to remember first is that our FATHER did not get caught offguard by your sin/failure. HE knew this morning's news about YOU last night and all about the failures you'll make tomorrow! Whether we want to admit it or not we have evil things constantly developing in our heart (Jeremiah 17:9).

When YOU and I confess our sin (1 John 1:9) we are agreeing with our FATHER what HE already knows and has told us about ourselves. Be thankful that you feel uncomfortable about it. The HOLY SPIRIT is exposing the impurities inside you that HE wants to clean up. YOUR soul has a bitter Adversary who wants to see great disaster in YOUR life (1 Peter 5:8). And this is happening throughout the Body of CHRIST (1 Peter 5:9).

Confession usually becomes the hardest because of the sin that so EASILY besets YOU and I. We feel dirty everytime we do it and cannot even lift our eyes towards Heaven. However, our LORD/SAVIOUR tells us differently in Hebrews 4:14-16. HE knows what is going on in your life. The deepest, darkest, most heinous sins inside of us are not hidden from HIS eyes.

Ray, we make it hard because of the shame involved. We knew it was wrong BEFORE we did it, in most cases. But like I wrote in a thread in the General Forum, our FATHER wants to forgive and cleanse us MORE than we want to confess! HE is so full of agape love and bigger than ANY problems YOU or I have in our lives.

Satan never wants us to forget the sin, no matter how dark it can get to be. But GOD has promised YOU that when you confess it (agree with HIM it missed HIS mark) HE will do something wonderful.....HE will remove it "as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12). Then Ray we are to go and sin no more. Depend on HIM to help you daily. Come clean with HIM about all the sin in your life. Will you fail/sin again? Yes. Will the war continue between your sin nature and the HOLY SPIRIT? Yes....daily. Should YOU throw your hands up in the air and just give up?? No.

Ask the LORD to help you with a sincere broken heart, and a broken contrite spirit (Psalm 51:17). HE will do it. Believe it, Ray (Hebrews 11:6).

**Psalm 44:21....Matthew 6:6-8**

Confession is needed as a christian, why others would consider it self condemnation I don't know. Unless you live is a continual state of confession over the same thing. I know some people who confess and confess, ask the Lord to forgive and then ask Him to forgive again. He forgives the first time we ask. Many times we can be the one who keeps picking it up because we don't "feel" forgiven. Which then this leads to self condemnation.

Good point Naomi....This is why we should trust HIS Word (Isaiah 55:11), not our "feelings" (Numbers 23:19). Our personal feelings can deceive us.......GOD won't. (Proverbs 3:5-6....Psalm 32:1-5) :P

Confession is needed in order to restore our fellowship with Christ. While we always have a relationship, until we confess our sins, until we acknowledge that we were wrong, we cannot move on in our fellowship with Him due to our pride being in the way.

Hi Kay......:P

It is part of our growth and development into the image of CHRIST. Confessing the truth to our FATHER is not a sign of weakness, but of strength. None of us are perfect. Confession also helps to weld the bond of trust between us and our FATHER, and should make us better aware, and even MORE thankful for HIS grace and mercy always demonstrated towards us.

Wow, dead on. Maybe I'm playing with semantics here (and I apologize if I am), but I would say confession is a sign of weakness on our part so that we might bring forth the strength of God.

Like I said, it's all semantics, thus doesn't matter. What does matter is how dead on correct your post it.

Confession humbles me -- to say it out loud (whether someone besides God hears it or not.) It's not self condemnation - it's recognizing that what you did was wrong and more than anything, you are sorry for what you God. It's seeking out God's forgivness and a way to help you forgive yourself.

Why do we make sin out to be so hard? That is such a good question Ray. I supose if I knew the true answer to that - if any of us did - we may get sin licked. Figuring out why we do things is getting to the very root of the problem and that brings us closer to solving it.

But there is no getting around our sinful nature. It's there. It's how we were born. We can't get around it ourselves - if we could, Jesus wouldn't have died on the cross.

He would have rather died than spend eternity with you. Now that's humbling.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
