Do We Answer the Census or Not?

I have heard that there are a lot of really personal questions on the new Census forms they are sending out, and they are threatening a big fine if you don't cooperate with their little program. I know we're supposed to be in subjection to authority, but what happens when a Census is asking questions that involve far more info than just the number of folks who live in your home? (That's all the Constitution authorizes them to do!) I am asking this because I have neither the time, money, or other resources to deal with the fallout of not answering the darn thing, and I also know I'm not the only one who's doing survival in this wonderful recession/depression the economy is in right now.

My question is this: How should we as believers deal with this, especially when they are asking really personal stuff?

This was covered in a lengthy thread here earlier (Friday - March 19). The questions contain the same requests for information from past censuses... it's nothing mystical. Ours asked if we rented or owned - how old we were - what we did for a living...... etc. These are done every 10 years with a purpose of planning for Federal funding - and getting important statistical data on family sizes, home sales/home growth, school information - and looking at funding for social and educational programs. It's not a government intrusion .... I like to look at old census data from hundreds of years ago - it's really neat - How many farm animals you owned - How much money you made ... the names of your family members living in your households and what they do to earn money - In many ways, census is a projector of job growth and direction. If you google 2010 census it will take you to a site and you can look at the forms and I believe you can find other information as well. Blessings.

First there are no questions that are personal information really. Nothing to worry about there.

Second answer to this is "render unto ceasar that which is ceasars."

So yes, answer it.

I received my census form this week . . . . just run of the mill questions. It took about 4 minutes to fill out. I didn't feel any of the questions were too personal or probing.

Just trying to separate the hype from reality about the Census questions. I was strung out on drugs (not a believer) during the last one & overseas for the one before that, so I wasn't sure exactly what was going to be on it. The large amount of hype in the media was making me wonder about it, but I haven't had much time to really check it out yet. Doing that this evening since I finally have a night off . . .

Only 1% of those surveyed got the long form. The other 99% are only asked who lives in the household. If you're a 1%er, just answer the questions. If you don't, someone will be knocking on your door. Now that would be an invasion of privacy.

No offense - but I didn't read your comments. My census questionnaire looks much like those I've received before - maybe it's just YOUR census. Maybe THEY sent YOU a different one........could be.....
