Jesus came here to introduce us to the Father and pay the penalty for our sins, thus making it possible for us to directly know the Father throught Him.

1. Scripture plainly teaches that sin is not inherited.

Greetings Dr. Hall,

While I agree with you that sin is NOT inherited, all men from Adam on are under the curse of death - you shall surely die! I agree that a baby, a child, the morally immature or mentally incapacitated are "pure", but the curse remains in our physical bodies. You might say we are subject to the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, meaning we all eventually run downhill. But I disagree with you about the "spirit of a man". It is formed even while yet in the womb. The "spirit of a person" can be correlated to his "heart", or his "nature", or as I once heard Charles Swindoll say, his "bent". It is the guiding light of his body/soul combination, either for good or for evil. God doesn't GIVE "evil spirits". The "pure" spirit begins as it is affected by its surroundings, again either for good or evil. By the time it reaches childhood, the "spirit" is pretty well formed and is guided or misguided by his parents or others around him. That is why: "Raise up a child in the way he should go...." His "spirit" is moldable. God reaches out to this "spirit" and if and when it responds to HIM, that "spirit" can now lead the body/soul combination into the Kingdom of God.

But as for your initial question: "What was Jesus mission?", it was to satisfy the requirements of a Holy God that is upon the whole human race. Jesus "mission" was to make the Father happy and it was by God's "good pleasure" that Jesus went to the cross on behalf of the whole human race.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

OK, what is the difference between sin and sin again? The truth is original sin is something Jesus never spoke of. Why because it didn't exist in his time, it was a concept created later and firmly established by St. Augustine. In Jesus's time you simply had to repent for any sins you caused.

He may not have called it "orginal sin," but the concept is all through the New Testament. It is kind of like looking through a microscope. There are organisms that existed long before we could see them and identify them. They did not come into existence only when we could identify them

Augustine might have codified the term "Original sin," but that does not mean that he orgininated the concept. It was already in the Scripture long before Augustine. Romans 5 is a good place to start.
