Elijah = John the Baptist?

Hi,

John the Baptist was not Elijah but he did come in the Spirit of Elijah. Meaning that he was turning Israel back to God through repentance. This was also Elijah's ministry.

Elijah has yet to come. I believe that Elijah will be one of the Prophets in the tribulation period. They will be killed and rise again.

I believe the the two prophets of the tribulation will be Elijah and Enoch. Those two have not seen death but according to scripture man is appointed to die. Physical Death is something we are all appionted to. Yet Elijah and Enoch have not seen death yet.

Mal 4:5-6 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: (6) And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Notice the key words before the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

Please give the following your consideration (my comments will follow):

1 Cor 15:35-44 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 0 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

1 Cor 15:51-53 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Luke 9:30-31 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: 31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

2 Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

There is the "natural" (this earth and all creation) and the "spiritual", the abode of God's heaven and all spiritual entities including angels. The "natural" CANNOT inhabit the "spiritual realm".

Certainly Elijah ascended into heaven while He was yet alive, BUT, we see that in order to enter heaven, we must be CHANGED. Please notice that Elijah and Moses "appeared" in their GLORY. Do you think they appeared to Jesus and His disciples WITHOUT the express direction of the Father? Of course not. For whatever purposes, they were SENT to Jesus.

Now consider, the TWO WITNESSES WILL DIE. If Moses and Elijah had "already been changed" and received their "glorified" bodies, then what you propose is that they "reincarnate" in the flesh, and then DIE AGAIN. According to Heb 9:27, such cannot be the case. I hope you don't believe in REINCARNATION??? Once you go to heaven, you are FOREVER changed. It can be no other way according to 1 Cor 15.
