I'm currently studying the Scriptures around Luke 22:32, and in particular, the meaning of Jesus telling Peter, "and when you have been converted "strengthen your brothers".

:) Hey Suzanne~

I'm gonna put forth my personal "conversion" testimony here...

While I was in jail I read the Word and believed it to be true. Told others about Jesus and thought I was going in the right direction. I was still hung up on "world stuff", like how to manipulate things to get out maybe... You know the spirit of controlling situations by "myself".

After I truly accepted Jesus in my heart as LORD and Savior I was converted. I wanted things HIS way. I gave over control to my NEW LORD and Master... CONVERTED!!!

Praise the Lord... I haven't been the same since!!! :thumb:

My cmmentary says "when you have returned"

Kinda spooky really. We know that satan was wanting to utterly destroy Peter but was not given permission. Yet he was able to "sway" him for a while. And of course Jesus knew that  beforehand yet Peter did not. I think maybe Jesus was saying that when that time period was over and Peter was out of satan's grasp.

Thanks Suzanne, for bringing this verse to my attention.

Thanks Eph,

But in context of the word, (my "Strongest" Strongs  :)  ) has some interesting correlating verses that use that same word.  I think you will have some food for thought after you look, if you have a concordance for a word study.

Dear Karen,

You and I have had the very same understandings from our life experiences in conversion.   :thumb:   If you have a way to look at the verse, you will see that, that is exactly what Peter went through as well.  Pretty awesome, I am glad to see that I am not the only one who has come to that conclusion, and it was reaffirmed for me by that very verse.  I "think" and I stress it is my opinion, that this verse has to do with "affliction and repentance for the believer to receive the wholeness of conversion"  I'll wait for others to post their views, before I add any more of what I understand from Scriptures.

Karen, we're on the very same page, and Eph, you're just plain special to me cause we don't always get along.

:D

:P

In His Love,

Suzanne

Hi traveller,

Actually this verse came to life for me a while back in a discussion with RCruise (I think ?)  RC-are you out there?  That's when this began.

My cmmentary says "when you have returned"

Yes, but what's really cool, is if you go and look at the word meanings.  It is a combination of 2 words, but I'll wait until some have had the chance to look it up if someone else has a concordance?

That's where the study is really good.  (thanks for posting traveller, I hope you can look at it some more.

In His Love,

Suzanne

I'm visiting too many threads to delve my deepest, yet...

Jesus knew 1.)He was to be betrayed  2.)Simon (not Peter per se) was desired by the enemy 3.)Simon was earlier given by the Holy Spirit the revelation of who Jesus was 4.)Jesus knew Peter long enough to know that his faith was weak (personally, I've never walked on the water) 5.)Jesus had confidence that His prayers were answered in the affirmative by God - John 11:42 6.)Jesus knew that Peter would 'turn again.'

Keep seeking this one - it's good :thumb:

Here's an excerpt from a commentary on 22:31:

tsth - good commentary (goes off the subject a little, but then don't we all - like I was saying the other...see?)

Back to it...

I think we could all put ourselves within that verse in that we are called to strengthen our brothers (Eph. 5:19)

Yet, if this is to be for all the apostles, then would Peter's denial of Christ (spoken by Jesus immediately after) be taken as a type of our lives before Christ?  I think that makes good copy, but I also think it stretches the point like a house built wider than its foundation.  In other words, I believe that Jesus was speaking to Simon because he was not to be the son of perdition - he was to be the little rock (Cephas/Peter) for Christ - - after all he was to write 2 of the 66 books.  To me that means that God has a place for each one of us individually which only He knows.  (a difference between Christianity and communism - we have distinctive places in the eyes of God and are to come together only AFTER we have "turned again".)

I hope my distinction was written clear enough -

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
