Becoming A Christian.....

Do you think becoming a Christian is an ongoing process, something that happens at a specific point in time, or a combination of the two? What are your reasons for your answer?

I believe you have your initial conversion then its an ongoing process. Of reading and learning about Gods Word. Seeking out fellow believers, sitting under anointed teaching. Always seeking to know more about our Saviour. What do you think?

I believe that One either believes in and accepts Jesus as their Messiah or they do not. This is the dividing line between Christians and non- Christians. The process you are talking about is not becoming a Christian. (as if when one believes in Jesus they are only a 20% Christian and they must somehow work there way to becoming a 100% Christian,) No that process is growing in faith growing in understanding and wisdom to use bible speak putting on your armor and grabbing your sword and shield.

When a baby is born we do not say that

I don't believe the question: "Do you think becoming a Christian .....", particularly today, is the appropriate question. I see that Christians are first mentioned here:

Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

At that time, it would be appropriate to ask your question Marilyn, but not today. Here is the reason why:

Matthew 24:23-24 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Acts 20:28-29 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

False Christs and false prophets who shew great signs and wonders have arisen today more than at any time in prior history. Mormonism is one, the JWs are another and in particular the Rev. Sun Yung Moone(sp?) who recently in front of a large number of government officials, declared himself to be "The Christ". We might even consider the term "Vicar" as used of the Pope.

So in lieu of this there are a very great number of "christ followers" today, so it might be a Worthy "chat" to investigate the differences between the "false Christs" and the REAL Christ, and what it means to be a REAL Christian.

Salvation is not only a one time event, but is also a process. Someone once explained it to me like this:

We were saved from the penalty of our sin. (Justification)

We are being saved from the power of sin. (Sanctification)

We will be saved from the presence of sin. (Glorification)
