Respect during Prayer

Recommended Posts

I was in the chat room today, went into the prayer closet room where someone was asking for prayer. While some of us were praying for this person others were carrying on conversations. I made the comment then about this and will make it here.....there are many rooms to choose from...

I would think that the prayer closet means that room is a place for prayer. When someone is there asking for prayer and others are prayign for them, there should be respect before the Lord????

People who just want to idly chat could go to one of the many other rooms? When we come before the Lord to pray for or intercede for someone, I would think there could be some reverence before our Father and King.

I was told by one who was just conversing during prayer that they do this all the time like that makes it ok....personally I find it quite rude that people can't take a few minutes from just chatting especially in a room designated for prayer to have reverence before the Lord while others are praying and/or interceding for another who is sick or hurting.

There are many rooms available for idle chat but shouldn't the Prayer Closet be for PRAYING??????

Some were very rude about the fact that they could chat during prayer while someone was receiving prayer etc and I find taht offensive to my Father, Healer, and King. I am sure He was not to happy with that response either.

Since when do we find it ok to not be in reverence when we are before our Lord?

I sure hope that this is NOT the norm during prayer especially in a designated room for prayer???

We owe Him our utmost respect at all times but especially when we are coming before His throne in petition for ourselves and/or others.

If your not comfortable or do not want to hear or be involved in teh prayer time then why go to the room where they are praying for someone?

Hi SeasofMercy welcome to Worthyboards.

You make a good point...sometimes we just duck into a vacant room whether it is the 'prayer closet' or any other just to get away from the hubbub of the upper room and try to have a more personal conversation...I will try to be more sensitive to this in the future and choose a different room. In the L-rd. Botz.

I think on the net people forget that conversatons are just the same on the net as in real life. I agree with you seas.

I don't chat, I go into forums cause I can't keep up in chat but to me if you have a prayer closet and people are praying you wouldn't chat there because it is like walking into the church or sitting in the church having a full on conversation while the rest of the church is praying.

I think people need to be made aware it is no different to physically being in church or a home group or prayer meeting when people are praying. You wouldn't carry on a conversation there so why do it on the net.

Hello Seas!!

Nice to meet you!!

I would like to apologize for that occurance on behalf of all the chat moderators. I know we have seen that happen before and usually if one of us is there we will encourage people to go to another room.

You are perfectly right and I will mention it to the moderators that may not see this if they don't read the boards often. Prayer rooms are for prayer. I would not find that in my prayer room here at my church, so why should an internet place so clearly labelled be any different. If you see this happening and a moderator isn't in that room but is in chat (names are in blue), please message them to come and help you.

Thank you Seas for bring this up. Your comments and observations have not gone unnoticed.

Bless you and I hope you will come back and chat again!!

Seas,

For the most part, I think I agree with you.

But in my observation, a lot of people depend on these online forums way too much. A chat room or bulletin can be a part of a person's spiritual discipline, but we all need in-person fellowship and encouragement as well.

I hear ya Steve.

I also here Seas. It can be very frustrating to be in a room when people are talking and someone needs prayer and the mood and thoughts are interrupted by other people chatting about whatever. They have the right too.......but we do need somewhere we can focus.

As for people relying on online forums too much - yes it most certainly happens. But it is so nice to have a need and login to chat and have someone right there, instantly to pray. I know I have needed it at times. And praise God for those who were in there to love on me and care for me.

but we all need in-person fellowship and encouragement as well.

I would be the last person to ever argue that point with someone!! :) AMEN!!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
