Ya know....it all comes down to attitude and what our motivation is. All of it. Making sure we have the truth and or new ideas or knowedge...or making sure we tell people the truth...or stand up for righteousness...means nothing (1 Cor. 13:2 -if I knew everything about everything, but have not love, what good am I?) if we are not motivated and filled with love (1 Cor. 13:4-7 - patient, kind, not proud or rude, or demanding of it's own way...).

The flesh has it's way of doing things...but God has His way...(Gal. 5:19-23). Love has to be the foundation...the reason and the means of delivery.

God's ways many times don't seem logical to the flesh, so we argue in defense of doing what seems natural to us...but many times God's ways are contrary to the flesh's ways...

Gal. 6:1-5 Gentleness...humility...not thinking oneself too important...do what you should and then will have the satisfaction of a job well done.

Blessings to you all....

No brother I meant exactly what I said, we should have a new understanding of God daily. I understand that God is Just, Love, Compassion. I understand these things through revelation. Furtermore I understand these things more and more through more revelation, and experience in walking with Him.

Amen ruck!! Of course God stays the same....however, that "same" is still endless to finite beings like us and we will never find the end of Him...therefore WE need to continue learning more about Him...peeling layer after layer of the onion, as it were. God doesn't change, but we have to. God doesn't have to grow, but we have to. God doesn't have to mature, but we have to. God doesn't have to grow from carnal thinking to thinking with the mind of Christ, but we have to. Phil. 1:9 "I pray that your love for each other will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in your knowledge and insight."

"If anyone thinks they have found the end of God, then they have a very little God, and a very big head". ~ J.E.Sorge

P.S. I would never have imagined way back in 1977, when I was saved, that I would have experienced the many layers of God that I have. For one thing, I didn't realize there were SO many layers, AND what those layers consisted of. His ways ARE much higher then our ways, and His thoughts incomprehensible...

Also, the carnal mind cannot comprehend, and then live the spiritual....so it takes time and insight and growth.

Grace to you,

Yes, but that is not what was stipulated. Ruck repsonded to someone else who was saying that we should examine the new things that someone like Oprah is presenting so that we know how to counter them. I maintain we merely need to know God. There's nothing new under the sun.

I'm not sure what the relevance in this discussion is to that quote, could you explain? :emot-hug:

Part of the reason that debates become unedifying here is beacuse folks often talk right past and at each other without ever absorbing what's been said.

Peace,

Dave

Well, 1st...I think the 'argument' started over the words 'new ideas'...yes? To me, this is semantics. Some say 'poe-ta-tows' and some say 'poe-tay-toes'. It is rediculous to pick at words...I am really sorry, but it is. It is like straining gnats. If one looks at the words 'new ideas' in context of the verse AND of the topic, I think it is quite apparent what was trying to be said...at least to some who realize that, as I said before, that God is infinite, with ways that are far above ours; therefore we will be learning about Him and gaining new (to us) insights about Him for the rest of our lives.

Not absorbing a meaning of someones words sometimes has to do with spiritual maturity. I look back and realize there are things mature Christians and teachers would say that I didn't understand then, but now I get it. Christianity is not a religion lived at the surface...it is one with much spiritual depth and we grow deeper and deeper into it (hopefully) as time passes.

For me He is more then just a figure or character from a book. He is real...and endless...with huge depth...and width....therefore I will everyday be learning something more about Him and gaining more and more insight. If He was small, shallow and 1 dimensional as a human or a book character...then yes, I could say that it is easy to know Him...that we could merely know Him and thats it...no further insight needed. However, He is much more then the words in a book...that is why He even says that His ways are far above our ways and His thoughts above our thoughts. The bible is given in words because that was the best way to relay to limited humans who He was....yet, we can't live on the bible alone because the God of the universe cannot be fully contained in human words. Which is why we also need a personal relationship with God and Christ Himself. Then after that we grow from faith to faith. Yes, there is nothing new under the sun as a whole...meaning there is nothing that surprises God...but there are lots of things new to us. I learn things everyday about God and His creation and about people......I uncover new things all the time.

My thoughts..

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
