He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

"And they overcame him by their own blood"

No they didn't - they overcame Him by the blood of the Lamb:

"And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony. And they did not love their soul until death." (Rev 12:11)

"For everything that has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? " (1Jn 5:4-5)

Faith in Whom? Faith in what?

"And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony. And they did not love their soul until death." (Rev 12:11).

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound? Let it not be! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" (Rom 6:1-2).

Would Paul have told anyone to work out their salvation with fear and trembling if there was no need for it?

"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, cultivate your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure." (Php 2:12-13).

Are the following verses really speaking about something which is an impossibility for those who have become partakers of the Holy Spirit?:

"For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good Word of God and the powers of the world to come, and who have fallen away (apostatized); it is impossible, I say, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify the Son of God afresh to themselves and put Him to an open shame.

(For the earth which drinks in the rain that comes often upon it, and brings forth plants fit for those by whom it is dressed, receives blessing from God. But that which bears thorns and briers is rejected and is a curse, whose end is to be burned.)

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you and things that accompany salvation , though we speak in this way." (Heb 6:4-9)

What things accompany salvation?

"For everything that has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? " (1Jn 5:4-5)

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

No they didn't - they overcame Him by the blood of the Lamb:

"And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony. And they did not love their soul until death." (Rev 12:11)

So how do we overcome the flesh, the world, sin and temptation?

Faith in the blood of the Lamb:

"My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He is the propitiation concerning our sins, and not concerning ours only, but also concerning the sins of all the world." (1Jn 2:1-2)

"Well, because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be high-minded, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, fear lest He also may not spare you either!" (Rom 11:20-21)

Faith in Whom? Faith in what?

Faith in the blood of the Lamb:

"My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He is the propitiation concerning our sins, and not concerning ours only, but also concerning the sins of all the world." (1Jn 2:1-2)

Faith in the blood! Faith in the blood! There's nothing overcomes except faith in the blood!

And what is it about the blood that we are to have faith in?

"My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He is the propitiation concerning our sins, and not concerning ours only, but also concerning the sins of all the world." (1Jn 2:1-2)

This is why Paul said we stand by faith:

"Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:" (Rom 11:20)

"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God." (Heb 3:12).

Faith in the fact that we should not sin because we have died with Christ but if we sin, we have an advocate with the Father: Jesus Christ the righteous who is the propitiation for our sins.

Is there any way that someone who has faith in the blood of Jesus could have His name blotted out of the book of Life?

Look at Matthew 7:21-23. Also read the parable of the ten virgins.

yep! Hebrews 6:4-6, !0:26,27, 3:7-12, 4:11 These passages are speaking to Christians and are impling that they could fall short through disobedince.

Look at Matthew 7:21-23. Also read the parable of the ten virgins.

In Mat.7:21-23, the context is false prophets coming in the name of Jesus, and how we will know them by their fruits (Mat.7:15-20). What do false prophets do?

"Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works? And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness!" (Mat 7:22-23).

In the parable of the ten virgins, all ten of them were asleep when the bridegroom came - just like "the church" went to sleep when Jesus asked them to watch and pray with Him. How do wise virgins take oil with them?

Through faith in the blood of the Lamb. Who gives us that faith? The Holy Spirit. But this is being debated in the other thread...

This thread is about how do we overcome the world, the flesh and the devil?

By adhering to the Word of God as a whole, not just bits and pieces.

It's certainly not our own power by which we overcome...

Jud 1:24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy,

Jud 1:25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

Rom 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

2Pe 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

1Jn 4:4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

1Jn 5:4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.

1Jn 5:5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1Jn 2:12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name's sake.

1Jn 2:13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, children, because you know the Father.

1Jn 2:14 I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

1Jn 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world--the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions--is not from the Father but is from the world.

True, but we have to at least put alittle effort into it.

Of course we do! We have to run the race.

It struck me yesterday (haha... I'm slow) that it's a running race, not a walk. Why do people call it a walk, when we are told to run? Running is so much higher intensity than walking... it is more effort expended, more focussed. We put a lot of effort into it.

We do overcome by the blood of the lamb and our testimony. What Christ has done for all those who believe in Him, no one could have done for us, not even our good deed. But if a christian chose not to follow God Word and will, will suffer the choice of that, which is sin. Hebrews 6:4-6.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
