Yet, for some reason I just don't pray often.... are you like this? I don't know what it is, maybe I'm just being lazy.. but there are some prayers that seem like I never get answers to - the ones where it is for myself. Does that happen to you? But then I wonder if there is ever 'enough'?

That seems like a good measure to me.. I'm not trying to be a super saint. I just know that I can make an impact on the world through prayer, yet I'm not doing it... so that's why I'm disappointed.. Sad to say I am lacking in that arena. When I first got saved I didn't know hardly anything but finally began praying earnestly and sincerely after some months. It went on and finally reached a point where I would pray for hours on end. And yes I do have Jesus as a constant companion and within Him to a large extent in daily communion and conversation. But still lack in my formal closet prayer life sadly to admitt. Not too long after being saved I was on church visitation and came across the unholy woman with three children. I saw plates in the floor and their eating from them such as an animal. After a few visits I asked the woman if I could have the children. I told her; they will be fed, clothed, schooled and taken to church. I had the little girls (2, 4 &5) for a year and a half when my wife came to me and said, the girls mother is coming for them tomorrow morning due to the welfare people. She said I have prayed for two weeks but nothing has happened. I know if you ask God; he will do it. I was floored for her to say that she thought that much of me. I prayed and asked God to remove them from her. Thirty minutes later the phone rang and the girls father was on the line saying, I have heard you have the girls - I want you to know I have accepted Christ and love the Lord. I would like to take my girls and raise them. And I said so? He said, I promise they will be fed, clothed, schooled and taken to church (my exact words previously). I said come and get them. He kept his promise and now the girld are grown and have families of their own. It is amazing what pray can do. Not by power nor by might; but by the spirit of God. He can do. And the children said in the wilderness; can God prepare for us a table in the wilderness? And, we Christians say: God CAN! What a great God we serve. Awesome! Thank you for taking the girls in and being an instrument in God's hands.

We were created for that very purpose. We should go back to it.

I used to do that last summer until one man who didn't know me spoke to me at church that God saw the dedication with my prayer time he even knew what time of day it was and how I actually did it.. and I got lazy from there on because I knew God liked my effort. A similar situation happened too with the Sunday school classes.. I need to not be swayed by these messages unless God says to stop.
