Ok, thanks Paperflower. I wasnt sure whether that was someone who needed help or if it was spam. It reads like a real person with a real need and I felt bad when reading it.

They make it sound that way to appeal to your heart; notice they don't call you by name? It's a mass e-mailing; they troll for the small number of people who will respond and then they hit them for money. Believe it or not, some people will give these criminals access to their bank accounts. Please stay far away from this, coffeespiller; this person is most likely in Eastern Europe anyway, not Iraq.

I think everyone with a computer and an email address has gotten something similar to this - it's a scam - do not open any attachments or respond to it. Block the sender as sending junk.

I got an email that promised me half of 52 million dollars if I just let them deposit the money in my savings account.

Are you guys telling me that isn't true?

I get at least 100 of these a day. I've managed to teach outlook to delete most of them, but it's still a pain. I think it started when I was active on some of Alex Jones's web sites. I didn't make a good impression there....

Sometimes they work through a person's email address book and will even use the name and apparent email return of a friend. They can make it sound like a friend is stranded somewhere and needs your credit card number to buy plane or bus tickets etc... or even just to have you wire money to them.

NEVER respond "blindly" to a plea for help on the email... if it is from a friend... call that friend on a phone or contact by snail mail or something to verify it is truly from them, before you ever reply. 99.9% of the time it is a scam, so assume it is before you ever do anything besides delete.

God wants us to be "fishers of men" not "Phishers of men"

I have got ones that would address me as dear kind maadam and they said something about illness and something about beneficairy and then it asked for like a lot of personal info like social secuirty and number and address and bank info. It said to call this number but the number looked VERY long distance and some emails I wasnt sure about talks about God and stuff.
