America's 2 Party quagmire?

It's a joke that in the world's most powerful nation and most prideful democracy that only 2 political parties for the past few centuries have had a realistic chance of winning an election.

The question I ask is why not every American have 2 votes? If every American voted for 2 parties of their choice, smaller parties would stand much more of a chance to gain support and growth. For example someone right leaning could vote Republican and Libertarian while someone left leaning could vote Democratic and Green.

I have an idea for voter reform......

first off.... anyone wishing to run for office would be required to register, and then there would be a primary election.....

the primary election would consist of a "yes" or "no" vote.....

meaning.... the names would be listed and the voters would then vote yes or no for that candidate to be placed on the second round of votes......

if the candidate does not achieve a minimum of 2/3 of the votes being " YES " they would be dropped for the second round....

if they are dropped from the list, they are now no longer eligible to run for that office that election period.....

if no one running makes the 2/3 majority, then round 2 would be looking for other candidates to run for the office....

on the political side, if a person holding a public office, commits a felony, they are then to be dismissed ( committes, tryed and convicted )..... and the position would be vacant until another person is found and elected in..... and the person having been removed from office due to said felony, would then no longer be eligible to hold public office again...... that means congress, senate, president, or even vice pres... for that matter, govener, or even mayor or sheriff and and....

if a military member is convicted of hot check writing, they are punished and even reduced in rank, and if such action continues, they can be removed from military service with other then honorable conditions...... what about the congress??? wow, all that cheating and thieving... and still walking free.....

hmmm

anyways, we could weed out the politicians that we do not need or want in office instead of allowing the political convention deciding who they want to be in that peticular office........

let us bring this country back on line.... let it be a government for the people by the people..... instead of this so called perverted state of government that people are calling a democracy.........

Ah....Voting twice makes no sense. If everybody could vote twice then we could all cast two votes for the same person.

The problm with the third party candidates is that few people every really take them seriously - and not enough get behind their candidates in the electoral process.

What really needs to happen is that election campaigns need to get $0 of funding from the government. All funds need to be privately raised, and the sources publicly divulged. That would solve most of the problem.

well of course if everybody had 2 votes they should not be able to vote twice for the same person. If a person does not want to support anybody but one person they would simply forfeit their 2nd vote.

We have basically a 2 party system because there has been no credible 3rd party candidate to challenge the Republicans or Democrats.

Basically they are all advocating a different brand of anarchy. The Green Party wants to put animal/plant life over humans. That ain't gonna happen....

The Liberterians want it to be every man for himself and that ain't gonna happen either. Most Americans don't think that is a good idea so Libertarians will only get about 3-5% of the vote.

I want someone who is "pro" something.

With Democrats we have folks who are "pro" liberal agenda. With 50 years of proven failed policies that they are STILL promising to the ignorant masses. They promote a sociological view devoid of anything moral or godly because they want freedom FROM religion. That is what makes them so paranoid and irrational about GWB. He "might" be a christian and we can't have that now, can we??? :suspect:

They had depended on class envy to gain power for so long but this is no longer working as well so they are doing their best to divide the country over the war or the economy or inventing a million other things. They only win if they can stir up enough strife and defile everyone with lies and half-truths.

Republican candidates are the only alternative I can see as a christian. It's not like they are even close to being Jesus but at least they seem to acknowledge that there is such a thing as "right and wrong" as opposed to "legal or illegal"

That could change by the next election but for now that is how it is.

Republicans are also small government. It's the Democrats that want the government to do everything for the people - socialized health care for everyone, a free welfare check for every illegal who crosses the boarder with his hand out, open boarders, free trade, etc. etc.

But you can't have it both ways. The Libertarian party says, "No big government at all, at any time." But you fail to realize that here and now the states are running away with the law! We have the ninth circuit court - a very liberal court - handing down a decision that the words "Under God" are unconstitutional and cannot be recited in school. We have state court judges handing our marriage licenses in violation of their own state constitutions, and we have supreme courts handing down judgments that are in direct violation of the Constitution of the United States.

So we need the feds to step in and take control of these situations before they get too far out of control. The Republican party - George W. Bush - is the only party that has enough gumption to step up to the plate and say "No more!"
