Texas couple is upset that their daughter was denied admission to a private school. The school says it does not agree with their lesbian lifestyle and therefore the school would not be a good fit for her because it does not back her own personal values taught at home.

Jill and Tracy Harrison were married in Canada in 2006.

Last month they filled out admission forms to enroll their daughter, Olivia, into St. Vincent

She is a child. This is wrong. She did not choose her parents anymore than we did.

Without getting into the same sex marriage thing, the school is wrong.

What is next? Your father is an alcoholic? Your mother is an adulteress? Your parents hate each other and are divorcing?

The school is about as wrong as it can be....

I think the school is protecting themselves. This could lead to so much trouble for them if they ever make any statement against homosexual marriage while this child is a pupil. The parents aren't going to stop at enrolment, they will push a whole other agenda once they have paid tuition. The school doesn't wish to start any of that. I do feel so bad for the child

It is a private school and can set its own rules and as such is not "wrong." Furthermore, there is a difference, here. The school is clearly not expecting that all of its students come from pristine households. If they did, they wouldn't have any students at all.

This is an attempt by these lesbians to impose their lifestyle on to the school and a reasonable person can assume that they knew what they were doing and how it would be received. Furthermore, their marriage is not recognized as legal in the state of Texas.

What has that got to do with anything? Do we now impose punishment on a child for the sin of the "parents"? This is about a child, and she should not be torn between politics, religion, and school rules. She is an innocent.....

It has everything to do with it. They misrepresented themvelves as father and mother of the child and as a legally married couple. The school is not under any obligation

The child was not being "punished."

The school is not at fault. The couple made the decision to place their child in a private school that they would have had reason to believe would not condone their lifestyle and the engaged in deception. The couple created the problem, not the school and the school is private and thus as the right to enforce its own code, which the couple would have been made aware of at the time they enrolled the child.

I feel sorry for this little girl as well, fez, but a school that doesn't receive taxpayer funds is not obligated to accept anyone. Not in this country anyway. These two women must surely have considered that their lifestyle would be detrimental to the child before they applied. Maybe they are trying to open legal challenges. Anyway, if this child was the only one in that school with homosexual parents, do you really believe she would be readily accepted? Maybe they should try to enroll her in a madrassa; they'll find out very quickly that Christians are not the only ones who don't accept their perverted lifestyle.

Allow me to ask a few questions for the child's sake. How do you think the girl will feel about a school that teaches homosexuality (the lifestyle the two moms live in) is a sin and that all sin is punishable by forever being separated from God is one does not turn from their sin? How do you think this will effect the child when it comes to a student - teacher relationship? Does anyone believe the child would be happy in this school?

These questions have nothing to do with holding the truth from the child, but the relationship the child would have with the teachers and other students as she goes through the school year. I see the two women as very irresponsible and very unloving to the child.

The one that gets confused is the child. Lesbian/gays want to believe it is alright but t is not. They wave flags in victory when they become legalised under human law or call for discrimination if not. The reality is that this child like any other in a case like this is the victim.

Praying for the child
