my apologies georgia, i don't know why i was thinking you weren't a believer! i must have confused you with someone else that's relatively new or something!

and yes, sometiems a husband "submits" to the wife, as in realizing that she's got a better suggestion or whatever. it's called compromise, and it works both ways. like i said, the head is turned by the neck. while the man has the final authority in the home (aside from Christ), the wife has a tremendous amount of influence on his decisions. a truly Godly marriage is one where the husband and wife work as a team, compromise or otherwise come to mutual agreements whenever necessary. a man who disregards his wife's imput and just decides "i'm the head of the house, i can do what i want no matter what you think" is NOT being a Godly husband.

little attention is ever given to the fact that a marriage is MUTUAL submission, and that the husband serves his wife as much as the wife serves the husband! the biblical definition of submission is never 'doormat'.

Super Jew you rock! That's exactly what I was trying to point out...much of the Scripture must be interpreted and taken in context. That's how I view the "submission" bits - just the context that the male authors of the various books had at the time. The Bible is filled with it. Doesn't make it any less important, it's just worth paying attention to.

I don't mean that the wife should never submit to the husband's will, there should definitely be times when this is the case. But there should also be times when the husband submits to the wife. It works fine in my family.

Well sure. My husband is submitting to my will this weekend in fact. He wanted to go to his uncles and I wanted to go away together alone. So, he knows it's important to me, and he's relenting, knowing this and he'll make the best of it and we'll have a great time. It doesn't mean he never considers his opinion or his values or his ideas are better or greater than mine at all. It's not that he never takes my will over his own. It's not about that at all. But when it comes to important decision that affect the family, he may have one idea, I might have another idea and neither of us can come into agreement. If that's the case, I will quite graciously submit to him and he'll submit to God. We'll both submit to God actually, but I trust that my husband's final decision will be a good one, within God's will.

Oh meant to point out...re my parents, by "emotion" thing I was saying that my mom is probably LESS likely to make a decision based on emotion than my dad, so if you say that the less emotional of the two should be the one to make the decision, it would be my mother.

And Romeo and Juliet was a play, and it was by a genius.

Hahaha it's okay LadyC, no one's picked up on it yet: George's blue girl comes from the song "For You, Blue" from the album "Let It Be," the song written by George Harrison, who is my favorite musician and (dare I say?) hero. It's a cool twelve-bar blues song...

This is your first wrong assumption. So you believe that the Holy Spirit had the power to inspire men to write the Scripture, but not enough power to preserve it's integrity throughout time in spite of differing cultures?

ITA Tess! With this and everything else you've said. But, I don't think the OP believes that the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible, as evidenced by the "the Bible is written by men" comment. That has been used as an excuse forever and the attitude (though the OP may not realize it) that goes with it is that they were just writing in their own pride and were fallible, so we can't trust it 100%. That, of course, is heresy. I can't count how many times I've heard unbelievers use that line when arguing for something unBiblical.

The Bible was written by God and is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

I guess you have to be a believer to understand.

You hit the nail on the head, girl! It's just one of those things the Holy Spirit does in you. Yep, you have to be a believer........and willing to "undo" all the garbage the World has told you regarding "submission" and understand the Biblical concept. It also helps to get rid of any pride.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
