Welcome skankxygon,

There are no requirements to be a member here. All we (servants and members alike) ask is that everyone treat each other with respect, and keep the langauge clean. I doubt these will be issues you have to worry about. The focus is on the Lord, so there is a bit of zeal towards unbelievers on the board. Otherwise, we welcome the chance to talk about issues facing Christians, Christian topics, news, questions, dilemnas, or just plain silliness. I hope you enjoy your time here with us.

God bless

While the threads may be a bit disutrbing they do give us the chance to discuss things. Some do bother me greatly, however I am sure that not many of you will agree with me on who Jesus, The Father, and the Spirit are, so it is hard for me to put someone else down for thier beliefs.

Just remember that there are a lot of people out there in this world that are much worse than anything here and we should know how to deal with them, and these controversial conference boards are very good to make you not only know what you believe, but also why you believe it; and that is extreamly important, especially in this time in history. As the great deception comes it is important for all of us to understand what, why and how to express the things that we believe.

With the 37,000+ denominations in the world it is way past listening to others for your doctrine, so I think these discussions are good for us all...... and maybe just maybe we might reach some.

There have been things here that I have changed my mind about that I doubt would have happened had we not had some of these discussions..

I do agree that people have started not treating each other with the respect that everyone diserves, and it is not just the newbees that are doing that, and that should stop.

On the subject of Jesus being married, I hear this many places where I work and it is good for me to have the back up of those here to know better how to approach it with the outsideers, so I think I have learned from these threads, even though I will admit some have made me angry and I had to put my keyboard away for a while.

I'm not talking about "seekers" or those who are truly curious...I'm talking about those who either post things to deliberately instigate an argument, or just sometimes fail to show the proper respect and honor to the Lord. .....To enter this site for the purpose of insulting our known beliefs is cowardly and dishonorable.

Just thought I'd quote myself for clarification. As I think I've already stated, I love to defend my beliefs and think that disagreements can even be healthy. I believe in iron sharpening iron and also believe that we should be ready to give an answer to those who are genuinely seeking.

This post was in reference to several new posters who seemed to be posting controversial things to spark division, to offend and to cause conflict...for the sheer sport of it. It's one thing to have an open discussion and disagree, it's another to "bait" ppl and argue for the pleasure of argument.

Discussion helps us grow in our faith; it doesn't really matter whether the discussion was provoked or not...in the end, it works to strengthen us as believers. If a topic that is disturbing or uncomfortable is brought up, we have every right to simply ignore it. The person who posted the topic also has every right to say what he/she wants to. Jesus promoted tolerance, and we should tolerate different ideas, even if they seem a bit off at first.

As I stated above, I agree that discussion and even disagreement can be healthy. But I do believe it matters if someone is trying to provoke an argument or not. Re-read my initial post for Scriptural references.

If a topic that is disturbing or uncomfortable is brought up, we have every right to simply ignore it.

I believe we are obligated, as believers, to expose false doctrine and defend our faith. If someone is posting something that is borderline blasphemous, ignoring it is not the proper response. Likewise, if someone is posting merely to instigate an argument, they should be corrected in love..not allowed to seed in division.

Jesus promoted tolerance, and we should tolerate different ideas, even if they seem a bit off at first.

I don't mean to sound picky, but I disagree that Jesus promoted tolerance. Jesus promoted love, which goes beyond just "tolerating" one another. And Jesus did not tolerate false teaching. I agree that we should show eachother grace, especially those who are seeking (as I've stated numerous times). But Jesus most certainly did not tolerate disrespecting His authority or those who sought to divide believers. This is what this topic is about: those who purposefully set out to start topics just to get a rise out of ppl.

Kia ora.

Added note: twice now on different boards I've mentioned in passing the similarities between Jesus's teachings and socialism (and the hippie movement, of course, being part of my own pacifist persuasion). Both posts have disappeared. Would the moderators have taken them off because people would have found them offensive? Socialism isn't evil...I'm just curious why they wouldn't leave the posts up for me to explain, because they are very valid.

Reiteration. Anyone have any idea? Curiousity is getting the better of me, I'd appreciate any thoughts. I don't want to bring it up if it's immediately going to be shot down for being controversial, because it's not meant to offend, it's merely a thought.

I was actually referring to this board, sorry, I meant two different threads.

I do know Jesus. I also know socialism. I think often people misinterpret socialism to be the way that it has been put into practice (unfortunately due to the greedy nature of people it has never been and I'm sure will never be successful as a form of government). Socialism is a great thing, if it would only work. It's exactly what Jesus was about.
