Was Melchisedec Jesus in the Old Testament? There isn't much said about this mysterious character, but the evidence provided in Hebrews and Genesis may show that Melchisedec is Jesus. Let's examine the scriptures in Hebrews and Genesis.

Hebrews 7:1-4 (KJV)

For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of Righteousness, and also King of Salem, which is. King of Peace;

Without father, without mother, without DESCENT, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

Now consider how great this man WAS, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham

gave the tenth of his spoils.

Now let's take a look at Genesis.

Genesis 14:18-20

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he WAS

the priest of the Most High God.

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth:

And blessed be the Most High God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Those are some pretty convincing verses there. Now based upon these two passages from scripture, could this have been none other than Jesus?

Greetings Crusader4Christ,

IOW, Christ was made high priest AFTER THE ORDER OF CHRIST?

I would hesitate in drawing such conclusions from such a limited amount of information available. We are not to ADD nor take away from what is written.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

I apologize for drawing such a conclusion, DE. However, the similarities between Melchisedec and Jesus are exactly the same. Jesus is the Prince of Peace, the King of Righteousness, Jesus was and is the Priest to the Most High God. Unless I'm mistaken, the similarities are exactly the same. But by the same token, I may be wrong. I withdraw my assumption about Melchisedec definitely being Jesus. Thank you DE.

Greetings Crusader4Christ,

No apology necessary. Today, there are many who continue to insist that Jesus had been "incarnated" as Melchizedek. As far as what the scriptures say, Jesus was sent "in the fulness of time" and born of a virgin and grew in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. I believe God had prepared "Melchizedek" just so that there was an "example" for Christ being made a "high priest". So the similarities are there for a purpose.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

What is also particularly interesting is just where did this King and Priest come from...surely Abraham was the progenitor of the Jewish race...distinguished by faith in the 'Most High G-d'...and yet here is a man...a king and ruler no less....who has a relationship with Almighty G-d...and to whom G-d has obviously revealed Himself...and who dwells in the land that will eventually become Israel.

If he is a ruler ...then he has subjects under him whom must also follow the leaders example of faith.

Again another thing to contemplate is that kings came from foreign tribes...the Goyim as they were later called...until Israel themselves demanded a king and got lumbered with Saul...1Samuel 8:4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,

1Sa 8:5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

Also as a priest there must have been some sort of sacrificial system in operation and a structure that followed laws given by G-d for the purpose of righteous living...it is likely that this stemmed way back to Adam and Eve...and subsequent generations either bought sacrifices to G-d Almighty...or emulated the Believers and developed their own system of worship to idols and demons.

There seem to be pockets of true Believers dotted around the known earth, even after the diaspora of Babel...Moses when he fled to Midian became the son-in law of Reuel=friend of G-d..also named Jethro=pre-eminence..later Jethro even advises Moses in how to facilitate his leadership...and the strong impression given is that Jethro hears from G-d.

Exodus 18:17 And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.

Exo 18:18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

Exo 18:19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

Exo 18:20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

Exo 18:21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

Exo 18:22 And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.

Exo 18:23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.

Exo 18:24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.

Hello Crusader4Christ.

This is just my opinion. There is little to back it up with from the scriptures.

It is not Jesus. Hebrews 7:3 ...like the Son of God he remains a priest forever.

He can only be the Holy Spirit in my mind because there is no one else like Jesus but Him.

He is a Priest. The Holy Spirit is still interceding on our behalf. Rom 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

Jesus is the second in the order of Melchizedek.

The Mormons have an order of Melchizedek but as I explained to them that Jesus was given this on the basis of the power of an indestructible life which they don't seem to have. Heb 7:16.

DLB...I checked out the first site you posted which is complete gobbledegook and is unbiblical nonsense wrapped in a nebulous New-Age pseudo-spiritual theology...I presume you did not check its content and just wanted to offer some thoughts on Melchizedek. The thing about the Melchizedek priesthood is that it is non-transferable so any group like this one or the Mormons ...claiming to have priests of that Order are a picnic short of a sandwich.

I include a short excerpt from the site just to show those that are curious exactly what it contains.

No mere man or even Angel would allowed himself to be called the King of Righteousness,( no man is righteous,no not even one),or the Prince of peace! No man, no matter how Holy, would tell or have someone call him to be (like unto the Son of God).No man whether speaking literally or figuratively would take on these titles unless he was either God, or a vain deciever.

Jewish Rabbi's, and historians, try to make this figurative, but in doing so they conceal that any man pretending to take on this type of title, even figuratively is comparing themself to God. They are afraid to face the fact that this Melchizedek may have well been the one who their descendants put to death and cried( let His blood be on us and our children)!

It is much more reliable to read what is plain, than to make it so figurative that only a mystic could make sense of it, and change the whole meaning.

The Lord is showing Paul a Great Mystery about Jesus being a high Priest after a Godly priesthood (Melchizedek) and not after a priesthood of a man. God is speaking plainly through Paul here to gentiles, and Jews for the edification of the church. But those Jews who have rejected this new spiritual priesthood of gentiles and jews becoming one spiritual body, are being brought forth to diminish our new heritage and promise to Abrahams children. And these scriptures prove that the old covenant believers and the adopted and grafted in gentile believers, are now one and completed in Christ, now the spiritual Kingdom, or Israel of God! For God has not forsaken or replaced the children of the old covenant, but the root and natural branches that recieved the Messiah have entered in , along with those un-natural branches, without heritage, are joined now also as one Holy Nation!!!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
