I live near a small town that has been around since the birth of our nation. There are still some old buildings around that have been here that long. Some of the buildings are being done over, back to their original shape (Log Homes). One of these buildings is where a youth group meets to study local history of the 18th century.

Once a year they have an event where people come in period attire and somebody reads the Decoration Of Independence and every year they ask me and other men to dress as Colonial Militiamen, to fire a volley of muskets after the reading.

After the program was over there was an reception with light refreshments, all the other militiamen didn't stay and I decided to go back to my Jeep (a block away) to put my equipment away before going to the reception. I put my rifle and pistol in the Jeep, I also put my tomahawk, powder horn and possible bag in the Jeep. For some reason I didn't take my rifleman's knife out of my belt and went back to the reception.

Back at the reception there came a woman with her grandson, they missed the program and her grandson wanted to see the rifle volley so badly. The woman in charge of the event asked me if I still had my flintlock pistol with me to show the boy and I said I didn't. I could see the disappointment in this frail little boy's face (he was 4 or 5 years old).

The woman and her grandson left the building to go home. Now I believe God speaks to us through the heart and God told me to show the little boy my rifleman's knife. I went out and asked the little boy if he would like to see my knife (which looked half his size), he held it and I answer questions about the knife, plus answered questions about the colonial clothes I was wearing, buckskin leggings and so fourth.

They both thanked me for taking the time (5 minutes) to talk to them and went on their way. When I went back inside, I found out way God asked me to seek the little boy and give him a little history lesson. I over heard a lady say to another lady, "You know that little boy that was just in here, he is terminally ill and most of the organs in his body are on the verge of starting to shut down".

Hearing that just floored me, on the way home I was in tears and I said "God if I only knew of the child's condition before hand, I would of went back to my Jeep, got all my stuff and given that boy a lesson in local history he would've never gotten in school".

God spoke to me again from my heart, God said "If you would of known of that little boys condition before hand, then my lesson wouldn't of been learned by another child of mind (me)".

What was the lesson I learned, you might ask. The lesson I learned was when God asks of you to do something, do not question him by saying why, if God wants you to do something, just do it because there is always a good reason.

Brother, thank you for sharing. I also have learned this lesson, sadly to say, more then once before it sunk in. It is never too late to show this child what you wanted to show him. Find him and do so.

God Bless,

Alan

I have done similar things before, and need to listen to the message.

How many times at church, at prayer meeting, God has placed something on my heart and I have not spoken, only to find it goes directly toward the days sermon. Not once, but often, so it is not coincidence, it is the Holy Spirit.

It is why, when I hear messages like I posted a week or so back, I speak in faith. I had no answers to my post, but that is not the issue, the issue is that I heard and I spoke. I do not know what the results were, if any, but the Spirit told me to talk.

I am trying to practice that now, and it sometimes takes a lot of faith to get up and speak on an issue that may not affect anyone.

Brother, often the message we get is for us, not for others, even though we speak it in faith.

FYI, the message was "Sometimes when dealing with someone with a broken life, they pick up a shard of that life and cut you with it", "Our task may be to bleed for them".

He did.

Blessings

My problem is not recognizing the difference between God and my wild and crazy imagination.

Amen! Listening and obeying His will is often times so hard when we put ourselves into the middle of it!!! What a great day you had and better yet what an awesome day that boy had! I bet he tells everyone around him all about that knife and what you taught him.

What was the lesson I learned, you might ask. The lesson I learned was when God asks of you to do something, do not question him by saying why, if God wants you to do something, just do it because there is always a good reason.

And who says God doesn't work in mysterious ways unknown to us. What a wonderous God we serve!

shalom,

Mizz

I would like to thank everyone for their thoughtful comments.:group-hug:

Neb, I think we all have that problem at times, knowing if it is God speaking to us or is it just our wild and crazy imagination. I coming to realize when it is my own imagination talking (and at times that's scarey ), it is when I'm spending time thinking about the subject.

When the Holy Spirit is talking to us, it just comes right out of the blue and your like "whoa, where did that come from". That is what is so cool about when God is communicating with us, most of the time it is when we least expect it.

Isn't God AWESOME?
