Pride vs. Brokenness

The question was asked: "how do I love myself more?" That is very difficult to achieve. I want to stop feeling like I'm "less than" over and over and over again.

My life in the last few years has made me feel less than in regards to relationships and occupation. I lost my job and it has been extremely difficult for me. I have faith that God knows exactly why this is happening. The comment of pride and humbleness being the flip side of each other and they both make you focus on "me, me, me" is true. When I read that, I felt even worse about myself. Even worse. It's like a vicious cycle.

also, why is it that Christians "seem" to struggle with self-esteem issues more often than those who are not Christians? This has been my experience and certainly isn't a blanket statement whatsoever. Just wondering if others have observed this as well. pip

The self esteem question about believers is just not valid. Nonbelievers normally are full of pride. Maybe this is what you 've noticed pip. I've actually noticed the opposite.

Hey, I have been looking for a foum like this for awhile, great site.

I have to say that I am lucky enough to have found good 'ole country' churches, even in D.C. where I am stationed in the Navy we have been able to find a church that seems to have a majority of 'humble,' instead of 'pridefull,' members.  Its so much easier for people to keep coming to church with no 'pride-bred,' my story is better competition.
