the Celestron C14 EdgeHD is a 14 inch refelective telescope that costs about $6,000.

the Skynyx2.2 is a new breed of camera's that costs about $3,000 it's monochrome and has some really good sounding things about it.

cound it produce these pictures from paris....

it might be for we don't know the light frequency it's actually recording. You can get much higher resolution momochrome pictures shooting through the atmosphere than you can color. If these are truly real, I'd really really like to have the set..... but not ten thousand dollars worth.

Thanks Nebula. I will look into it.

I am adding this comment. Those are amazing pictures! Where do you find all those fascinating web-sites dealing with astronomy?

You're welcome!

I have an iGoogle account - use it for my homepage. A few of my "gadgets" (stuff that shows up on the page) are "Universe Today", "New Scientist", and "Science Daily". This article came from one of those.

Another gadget is "Earth shots Photo of the Day" - I may have posted these once in a while.

And sometimes I check out the "Astronomy Picture of the Day" website.

Amazing! I'll never forget the first time I saw the moon through a backyard telescope. My parents bought me an inexpensive one when I was a kid and it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen. Seeing images on television or in books or magazines (didn't have the web back then, LOL) is just not the same as seeing it live like that. I remember it gave me chills. Made me even more of a stargazer than I already was. :mgcheerful:
