I've been reading some headlines about the gas prices in CA skyrocketing.

Any comments?

Some thoughts:

1. "California" is what happens when the liberal/statists are given free reign to run the asylum.

2. From what I understand, gasoline sold in California has to be specially formulated (because of environmental regs), and only a couple of refineries produce it. Fires in one of those refineries have caused shortages - thus the high prices. Moral of the story: You've (voters in California) made your environmentalist bed. Now lie in it.

3. Gov. "Moonbeam" Jerry Brown declared he was going to rescind the regulations and ease the shortages, as gasoline from other states will be made available. What will happen to the environment? What happened to the liberal/statist philosophy that high gas prices are "good for you"? Aren't we supposed to be more like Europe?

4. California is a lost cause - politically - and this illustrates it. A Ronald Reagan could NEVER be elected governor there (as he indeed was in the 60s).

Blessings!

-Ed

Ive been scared the prices would then hit az. Cali's gas tends to filter our way. So far, just a tiny penny increase in price. Unless it shot up since last night lol.

The summertime blend of gasoline sold there is rather expensive to make, and they don't produce a lot of extra toward the end of summer..... then one has an refinery fire and one has disaster.

As for the gasoline sold there, when i would visit Los Angeles in the late 50's and through the sixties, I was always sick as a dog by the time we got back home. Western California has some serious environmental problems because of the geography. Air tends to hold things in the air there because of the mountains being close to the sea and when you overpopulate the area as we did, you get very unhealthy conditions. I had to turn down a very good career job in LA because of the air pollution in the early 70's

So, I personally don't mind them doing whatever they need to improve their conditions as long as they understand we don't have that problem and shouldn't have to live under the same restraints.

I've not heard from a single person that they are upset with $6.00 gasoline, but it's the pits when they run out and that's the serious part of the problem.

The californians in chat last night were a tad bit cranky about gas above $5 a gallon.

the problem in California won't last very long. It's about time to use a different blend of Gasoline and they should have plenty.... and the prices will go down quickly.

I'm wondering what ethanol is selling for. in California.

ethanol isnt effictive and cant be used in older cars. it tends to cause problems with the older fuel pumps and the power loss on them is noticable. my trucks are e-85 capable. chevy and lot of cars have been planning for e-85 for some time. but dont run e-85 in your lawn equipment.
