Really wish I could give you a quick fix.. but I too deal hard in this area.. Been learning a thing or 2 and have been making progress but have to admit there are those days when i truly wish to crawl under a rock..

The best way I can say it is when you get that negative thought.. you need to quickly dismiss it... just tell yourself that you do not accept it.. you may have to do this many times during the day .. The enemy certainly knows what buttons to push and i hate to admit it but there have been times when i have listened to them and even for a minute believed them.. Sometimes they get so overwhelming strong that it takes all i have to get it under some sort of control.. Usually some good music to take your mind off of what you're thinking can help.. But with what you said about focusing on the good things and the Word is definitely a step in the right direction in purifying your heart and getting control over your thought..

The mind is very much a battlefield but with anything that you give practice to it does get easier..

Yes unwanted thoughts do surface from time to time. They are on display around and tempting us. It takes an effort to dismiss them but then He is allways there to help us.

Blessings

Greetings Biscuit,

Have you ever tried fasting as you pray? I have been challenged by thoughts also..from one time or other..and some was becoming hard to escape. But I began to fast and pray. Soon those scriptures of deliverance became alive in me and I began to gain a stronger sense of faith..I was empowered. Try reading Mark 9..it will give you a more clearer picture how powerful fasting is..Jesus shared this with the disciples when they came to Him..wondering why the foul spirit..wouldn't come out for them. His respond was..This kind can come forth..by nothing..but prayer and fasting.

I pray that your deliverance will be manifested soon..In Jesus Name, Amen.

Thanks, @Joyful.. Yes, but will try that again. Thank you for your prayers.

2 Cor 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Rom 12:12 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

We all need to wash our minds by reading and mediating in the Scriptures and by prayer. The Lord has told us that His grace is sufficient for us, there is nothing we have to contend with that we can't overcome because in Christ we are more than conquerers.

Great posts,

I too have battled this area. Mainly I try to keep focused on the truth. I put scriptures on my iphone and will stop to meditate on these if things get too loud.

Also, it helps to hang around others who are heavenly and faith minded. I don't have co-workers who talk faith all day, so I have to stop and get man's wisdom

out of my head and put God's wisdom back on the throne. Indeed it is a battle, but we, in Him, are overcomers and will prevail. Yahoo

Oldshep gave a great answer.

God designed us to get victory on this planet through his Word. Jesus said, whatsoever you say, if it's a belief system that comes from a heart that is not filled with the victory of the Word, it can come to pass with disastrous results. Your mouth can kill you, or can save you.

The Word did not say you have what you think or fear. It's what you set action to, and speak.

Fear is faith for something bad happening to you in the future. It's perverted faith. You speak that, then as Job, all that your feared can happen. It gives the devil a place.

Even sin thoughts, is fear of missing out on something, or not being fulfilled in something. It's designed to be acted on, and spoken so the enemy has a place to work in your life. The devil has to seek those he may devour, we are told to resist him, steadfast in faith.

Faith speaks. You can't combat thoughts with thoughts. God made you so that once you start speaking the word, your mind can't focus on the thoughts. Count backwards in your mind to 10 then say your name at about number 5. What happened to your counting backward to 10? It stopped when you said 5.

Even if you have goose bumps on goose bumps, Heard the most awful news, have massive thoughts about porn or some sin, you have the right to speak and choose something different. You have the right and ability to speak the word over the situation, and the thoughts must stop.

Feeding the thoughts though is like feeding a stray cat. Both will come back to eat again, and more often.

Jesus Is Lord.

How does a Christian control unwanted thoughts (sometimes evil thoughts)? Is this part of a process (i.e. sanctification)? I know we are to resist the devil and are told to "capture" every thought. Do these thoughts come from self or the enemy? I do not hear the "voice" of the Holy Spirit.

The voice of the spirit works with reason and logic and his word. Thoughts will always come. We must resist and repel these thoughts.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
