The Judaic Law of Moses was given to the Hebrew people only; it was never binding on Christians and is not binding today.

The Troas disciples were gathered for worship on "the first Day of the week (Acts 20:7). The Corinth Christians assembled & contributed to the Church treasury on "every first Day of the week" (1 Cor.16:2). Plainly, Moses Law (including the Jewish Seventh-day Sabbath) was directed to the Jewish nation as shown in Deuteronomy 5:3, and Nehemiah 9:13,14 for starters. The Apostle Paul makes it abundantly clear

How does this qualify it for the changing of the Sabbath?

Because there are instances that show that the disciples met on the 1st day?

Gee...I know several churches that meet on Wednesday nights for Bible study...

Is this your only proof of Sunday being sanctified and made holy?

Holy Writ clearly states that, in the present age, the true children of God are distinguished NOT by their observance of "days," nor by their obedience to the Mosaic code - see Galatians 3:10,11, 19-25; 4:8-11; Col. 2:13-17). In the Holy scriptures, NEW MOONS and SABBATHS (2 Kings 4:23) are linked with Colossians 2:16,) ie, NEW MOON AND SABBATH......and both the NEW MOON and the JEWISH SABBATH are passe now! The PENALTY for Jewish Sabbath-breaking is DEATH (Exodus 31:15). One cannot simply state that one will keep the day but obliterate the PENALTY for its breaking. Do you have a FIRE ON in your house on the Jewish Sabbath? DEATH is the penalty. Do you GO OUTSIDE your house on the Jewish Sabbath? DEATH again. (see Exodus 16:29). How can a follower of EGHW go to a church service on the Jewish Sabbath when the Bible commands them TO REMAIN INDOORS on Saturday?! Won't somebody rise and tell?

If SDA folk are to keep the Jewish Sabbath, then WHO has been designated by them to PUT TO DEATH all who fail to do so? Look at Numbers 15:32. The Mosaic code doesn't amounto zip if one calmly with straight face does away with the PENALTY for disobeying Jehovah God.

And too, Jehovah clearly declares in Colossians 2:14 that Israel's Sabbaths - all of them - would cease. "And i will cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her SABBATHS, and her solemn vows." Hmm. Jewish sabbaths are indelibly linked here by Jehovah to "new moons" and "feast days", none of which are incumbent today upon the Church of the Living God.

"Stand fast in the LIBERTY......." Thanks, Apostle Paul!

I agree. But let's look at this a little bit closer Arthur:

I believe you're quoting Colossians 2:16-17 "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ."

There are 2 types of Sabbaths that I would like to bring to your attention:

1. The Sabbath of creation.

"Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." Genesis 2:2-3

2. The day of atonement was also called a sabbath

"Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD...It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath." Leviticus 23:27, 32

One Sabbath was in regards to creation, the other sabbath in regards to the sacrificial system.

Remeber what Colossians said? - "...Which are a shadow of things to come."

Which Sabbath was done away? Sacrifice sabbath or creation Sabbath?

Hebrews lets us know: "For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those SACRIFICES which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect." Hebrews 10:1

So I agree, the sabbath has been done away...but not the Sababth in regards to God's creation. The sabbath in regards to the sacrifice of Christ.

Oh yea, Arthur...you never addressed my question -

How does the Bible define sin?

Posted

Do we all agree that Christ is indeed the Messiah? Do we all agree that He was indeed God manifest in the flesh? Do we alll agree that He did indeed die and rise again the third day according to the scriptures. Do we all agree that we are indeed saved by grace and not works?I cannot understand the obvious divisions in Christiandom.. I ask this question. When we let doctrinal quarrels get in the way of our witness for the Lord are we not allowing satan to slip in... I believe with all of my heart and soul that no man or woman is ever going to truly understand the mystery of our Lord as well it should be..We are definitely living in perilous times and should treat every day as the day we could expect The Lord.. I am convinced that His coming is indeed very close and am doing everything in my power to stay studied up on His word and not let issues such as these to take my mind off of His magnificent coming to take His church home. I am but one person but I implore you all to just focus on the Lord and to try to let tht Holy Spirit guide you in focusing on the harvest.. In His service and love,Jina

Paul said SABBATHS, not some, ALL. You have no right whatever to pick & choose the Sabbaths that suit your SDA tenet. They're ALL gone now....including the Jewish Seventh-day Sabbath given as a specific sign between Jehovah AND ISRAEL, not the Church Church. ALL Sabbaths are passe. Now we stand on RESURRECTION ground, not that of Judaism any longer.

THANK YOU, LORD JESUS FOR CALVARY!

Arthur, let me reason with you for a second.

According to your beliefs you are saying that the Sabbath was done away with because of the death of Jesus Christ, right?

Well then that brings me to another question...How come the 7th Day Sabbath was created before sin?

The Bible says "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." Genesis 2:2-3

It would be one thing if the Bible said "God blessed the 7th day because man sinned," but the Bible says "because he had rested from all His work."

You previously quoted Galations 3:19 "It [the law] was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator."

The Sabbath was created before transgression......why would the death of Christ remove it?

I will jump in here to offer a compromise that I think is reasonable and perhaps, with some reflection, will be acceptable to those holding a strong position one way or the other.

The early first-century Church was made up originally mostly of Jews. They undoubtedly met on the seventh day, Saturday, continuing their normal worship. Indeed, they had to be corrected about requiring circumcision and keeping all the laws of Moses. These Christian Jews were causing trouble in the synagogues and met with hostility from their fellow non-Christian Jews, so they started to meet on the first day of the week, Sunday, as recorded in Acts. I think this is what may have prompted Paul to write in Colossians 2:16-17

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
