Nobody ever realizes that the third-wave Christian doctrine of biblical infallibility is only about a century old. Sigh.

First of all the Cathoilc church is a false church that teaches a Salvation by works. They teach that the pope is vicar of Christ or in other words he thinks he is christ on earth. Of course they want you to think the Bible is not the word of God because they believe that the church teaching is above the bible.

Clearly, you know very little of the Church other than what you've probably been told all of your life. So please don't Catholic bash...just do your homework. PS: nowhere in our doctrine do we use "vicar of Christ" (vicar is a Prot term, anyway) and I can assure you, the Pope is not supposed to be Christ, just a leader who tries to live and lead by his example.

A cult? Hardly. Methodists, Catholics, Lutherans...those churches don't claim that the Bible is infallible, yet they are Christian. Look, the Bible is a tool for us, from God through the words of men (part of the Incarnation really, the words of man and the Word of God). Acknowledging that the Bible was written thousands of years ago with a thousand year old understanding of the earth does not detract from its meaning. In the Bible there are passages about burning fornicating priest's daughters, stoning people for any kind of sexual sin, etc and so forth. This is in almost direct contradiction of Christ's Gospel of Compassion. The messages, the stories of the Bible are all good - I believe in the Bible as our foundation. But it is blind to ignore the contributions of man, and the analysis and careful interpretation that must then be taken is important.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You bring up an excellent point, but allow me to offer you an alternative view.

We know that God's words are powerful. In John 1:1 we learn that in the beginning was the Word (logos) and that the Word was with God and that the word was God. We know that all things were spoke into exsistence through God's Word. This means that His Words are obviously perfect. Now, we have to at least admit that the Bible contains the Words of God. There is no doubt about this. If it didn't then none of it would be true. In order for it to have truth in it, it has to have some element of being God breathed. Now let me ask you, how can perfection and non-perfection co-exist together? The obvious answer is that they cannot. So either the entire Bible is the Word of God or none of it is. It cannot contain the Word of God (perfection) and man's opinions (imperfection).

We know that all scripture is God-breathed. Now when Paul said this to Timothy, he was talking about the Old Testament. However there are other scriptures (which I won't go into at this time) that shows us that Peter and Paul taught that the Gospels were equvialent with scripture and that even each other's writings were equal to scripture.

As for the apparent contradictions, what you're seeing is the levitical law. The punishment for the law showed the severity in breaking it yet was rarely (if ever) enforced. The point to all them is that it shows the consequences of all sins is death. All sin leads to death. This becomes harmony with the Gospel when we see that we need Jesus Christ to save us from this inevitable death. He took the punishment for these sins. Thus, these apparent contradictions are atually a harmony within it.

I hope this clears up the issue a bit.

Just saw this post, sorry to make two seperate post.

You need to study your faith a little bit more :emot-questioned:

The Catholic church has always traditionally held that the Bible is infallible but not the only source of authority. They believe and teach the Bible is infallible but that so is sacred tradition and that sacred tradition is equal to the Bible. In other words, Catholicism disagrees with sola scriptura and not with biblical infallibility.

I am afraid you are quite wrong. I was raised a strict Catholic. I almost went into the priesthood. Thank God that never happened! I recently had a Papal apologist over here who conceded that I understood Catholcism quite well, and he admitted he was not able to answer the Sciptural arguments against Rome, and he admitted that our explanations of the typical catholic prooftexts he could not answer.

In other words, not only did he concede I knew catholicism, but he also conceded that he had no answers to my answers to Rome twistings of the Scriptures. It was obvious he saw the light that night, he just refused to come to it.

Perhaps you shoud study church history, you would see the Pope believes he is Christ on earth, the head of the church, the Holy father. These are all the names, titles and offices of Diety which this kook takes for himself. There's a good reason why real Bible believing Christians have referred to the Pope as the antichrist for the 1500 years the papal idea has existed.

Guess I'm not a real Bible believing Christian. I don't think the antichrist will have a thing to do with the Roman church.

Oh, and btw, there has not been a single papal decree that has said what you've asserted. While certain Popes have asserted it, it's never come out in a Papal Decree thus the church doesn't teach it.

And you have read ALL the papal decrees? What Rome does IN PRACTICE, states her positions whether she tries the Clintonian tactics and parsings you attempted, or not. They bow before the pope, kiss statues of "saint peter" in rome to the point of wearing out his toe. The little known secret is that statue is NOT of peter, but of Zues, who they renamed Peter when Pagan Rome became Papal Rome, and renamed all their gods, godesses, and pagan ritutals with Chritians terms and names. Rome is the bloody whore of Rev 17, the Babylonian Harlot drunk with the blood of the martyrs and full of the names of Blasphemy, like Head of the church, Holy father, Pontifex Maximus, Mediatrix of all graces, queen of heaven, transubstantiation, etc. She is full of idolatry, sexual immorality and lies.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
